Please Help- What's Happened to their Free WILL???

The only other hacks that I have are not really hacks- for example- anti-line waist, Numenor's Maxis hidden things, a bag of edible food, a training cash register etc. I took everything else out (as far as I can tell) 

But for some reason, the majority of the time my adult and young adult sims are not using their free will unless their hunger or bladder are about 95% drained.  Over the course of about 8 rl hours of play time I have seen them talk to someone, joke, poke, listen to their child play piano, watch a game of chest, and sit on a couch- each of these once.  They clean up ANYTHING and EVERYTHING possible but they NEVER turn on the tv, read, play with the pinball machine or do anything else that they have normally done.  They never feed themselves or go to the bathroom until it's almost too late!  What the heck??  I really like having them make their own stupid decisions, lol!  Any ideas??

I've noticed a weird decrease in Free Will as well, although I don't use the Director's Cut.

Can't say I've seen this in my game. Visitors continue to behave like their usual, stupid, annoying selves. Once again, I place the blame clearly on tight pants.

I've seen many sims that at random times just stop using free will. They just stand there, doing nothing. Once their bladder goes really low, they do go to the bathroom, whereupon they clog up the bathroom. Occasionally they'll also go to bed when their energy gets low, and sometimes they fall asleep where they are. They don't initiate any actions. And then suddenly free will "gets turned back on" and they're back to normal.

I don't know what does it. I just figured I had a hack conflict somewhere or something, although I haven't had time lately to do research on that.

I'm going to assume it isn't as simple as free will being turned off on the lot in question.

I've noticed something simular in my game as well, but that's because the game decides to turn free will off on it's own. I start up the game, load a family. I check that free will is on, I start playing and sometimes while playing I find free will is suddenly automaticly turned off while I'm playing (I didn't do it, and I didn't even leave my computer alone...) It happens completely random for me and I never really cared since it only happens once a week.

This might have nothing to do with it check if free will is still turned on for the lot/family that is causing problems...

I think free will cannot turn off/on auto without any reason.When game cannot find the way to solve problem with some of
interactions it stop any interactions for all on lot.In most cases it may be linked to custom objects or mods with broken(invalid) BHAVs.

Sims who have 'Free Will' are generally the ones acting stupid.  Given the false advertising that is placed on many objects it's not surprising that they run to the ones which promise to boost their mood by thirty points and then obsess over them.

Even when I play with free will on, I generally tend to give them orders so as they don't screw up so much, grragh.

I do the same thing. I pretty much keep my sims autoskilling or autosocialising constantly. Only permaplat sims are allowed to wander free, as long as they don't interfere with the non-permaplat sims. If they prove to be too pesky, they meditate somewhere until they are needed for something (e.g. cooking lobster thermador for the headmaster) or until they die, whichever comes first.

Does this only happen on lots with a fountain? I found a problem with fountains and free will and just lived with it for a while. Finally got fed up with it and started eliminating downloads. Turned out to be something from MTS2, and the problem was reported in the thread as a known issue. Of course, now i can't seem to find the thread.

Free will on or off is lot speciffic, it does not apply to all lots.
It can even be turned off in lots you download and have to be turned manually back on.

*Silly dogs in my legacy house all sleep/lounge in the kitchen in front of the fridge, despite there being toys and beds all over the other rooms in the 5 bed/4.5 bath house. One actually "merged" with the fridge while watching a birth. I decided that all that kitchen time was their meditation to bring themselves closer to nirvana, and Waldo had finally achieved it. Thatcher and Dellie, of course, celebrating his ascension.

For example the legacy house has TV, treadmills, chess table, swimming pool, hot tubs, pool table, pond for fishing etc plus plenty toilets for bladder needs. This does seem to have started happening since installing BV but it doesn't happen all the time. It has definitely affected playable sims and I'm fairly sure that I've seen customers just standing there as if they're waiting for something to happen. I'm also fairly sure that it doesn't affect all sims at once, just some.

There's the global free will and then there's also a bit in the person object's semi-global attributes that can also disable the autonomy processing (which has the effect of turning off free will). It could be a hack conflicting with either of those things.

Maybe EAxis screwed with something for no reason again, and whatever they did is only effecting some people? That's right. It's always EAxis's(?) fault.

That's what happens to me just the other day. I was just playing a lot with 2 sims, when suddenly 1 of them just stood there doing nothing. When all his bars were low (red color) I checked free will. It was still on, I went back to play-mode used the maxmotives cheat. Continued playing. When an hour later the second sim started doing nothing (and sims 1 still doing nothing unless I tell him so). I checked free will again and it was OFF. (I'm not certain if I reloaded the lot before looking at the 'free will' option). I turned it back on and everything worked like when I started the game. Both of my sims had there free will again.

I've been playing a few more days (same lot, with same sims) and didn't happen again (yet).

I know there is a hack that allows you to turn off (or on) free will for each individual sim. I already checked my downloads folder and I do NOT have it. All my other downloads are up to date (triplets & quads, a few from simwardrobe, and a few awesome hacks from the directory cut)

Maybe eaxis 'accidentally' turns off free will for a certain sim in the code at random moments? And the free will option (in the options menu) shows it's on, since not all sims have free will off? (does this last paragraph make some sense?  )

Sometimes I like to stick a bunch of sims together in a house and see who hooks up, which is why I let them get on with their chattin' and flirtin' on their own (I have ACR installed). Other times I get fed up with them being so stupid that I just throw my hands in the air and let them kill themselves if that's what they want to do. And then sometimes I take offence at their stupidity and go, "Fine! If you don't want to do anything, then you can just bloody well stand there until you do!"

I do have Bathroom Uses You, I just thought that you had to set something up in game for it to work (and I've never really got around to that for some reason).

I haven't noticed Free Will turning itself off. Of course, I've never checked either. I rarely play with Free Will off so I didn't think to look. If it happens again, I'll check it out.

I found it very peculiar that it was never ALL of the sims that turned inactive, which is also a reason why I didn't check if Free Will was off. It did tend to spread, but I don't believe everyone was ever affected at the same time. I have all expansions up until Seasons, and I never noticed this problem before I installed Seasons.

I do have Bathroom Uses You, I just thought that you had to set something up in game for it to work (and I've never really got around to that for some reason).

You have to place the TP in the bathroom. Then it works, keeping the bathroom clear of clog and managing load balancing and queuing so that sims don't jam up in front of one bathroom and ignore the others, then pee their pants.

I have a community lot that has treadmills and if they get hot they will stand there till their temperatures are back to normal--I also know if you use the InSIMinator static motives--it will take away free will till you turn them dynamic again--they will only go sit down or make the bed.
