THANKS THIS IS GREAT

http://www.dreamhomesource.com/

Whee! I love designing new houses but seem to end up with boxy houses for the most part (a few mansions that aren't square..). Not just square on the outside.. but on the inside as well.

This looks like an easy way to get fresh ideas for building houses.

It would be great if Maxis came out with a Sims equivalent tool (like Bodyshop).. plug in how many rooms/bathrooms/floors and style and be presented with choices.. select the choice.. change as needed (windows/doors etc).. package the lot.  And if this was Sims ready.. one wouldn't have to worry about scale and routing.. all hallways would automagically be wide enough for 2 sims to walk down.

 dreams.. dreams.. dreams... dreams.

What we need is a program external to TS2 that lets us plot down walls on a lot, and let us view it (a simple top-down view) alongside the source house plan. Yep.
Or I could stop being lazy and just print the blasted things.

I use www.coolhouseplans.com - then I map it out on grid paper, using the -2 rule that I HATE (subtract 2 from the back and each side):

1x3 lot =
10 x 30 spaces but only
8 x 26 are usable.

dammit.

If you look at RL houses, most of them is actually just boxes, with smaller boxes added. Often itīs trees, flowers that makes the whole different. Also the building material, style of windows and doors can do wonders for your house.
