Resizing a lot

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Ok, I have a couple of questions for all you out there who are so much more awesome than me:

1. Is it possible, via SimPE or some in-game cheat to change the size of a given lot? If so, how?
2. If it is possible, is it possible to change the size to something other than the standard sizes?

I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that. This just doesn't seem like a physically feasible exercise. At best, I can see the possibility for extending the depth of the lot, but extending the width of the lot, its facing along the street, seems, well, not terribly plausible.

How would you go about doing that? I can think of times when it would be nice to add more depth to a lot.

*raises hand*  What about shrinking lots?  I have a lot of larger lots that have a small house and a friggin' huge yard, and I just don't want that much space, but want to keep the building itself.

I tend to think the only real answer is to take pics of the layout to remind you of what the house is like, or make a rough plan, and then remake the house on a lot the size you want.  If it's only a small house, that shouldn't really present an insurmountable problem.  And since it will then be cheaper than the original, because the lot itself is smaller, you should be able to move your family into it if you want.

That would generally work, but there are times when recreating a building by hand would be a big pain in the ass, such as when the creator made use of cheats a lot when building to obtain just the right look.

I haven't the slightest idea, I was just speculating on what might be within the realm of possibility.

Well, it may be, too, that sometimes that explains why they used a larger than necessary lot.  If you try to build higher than normal you need more space for the roof - each floor you add takes an extra tile all round, so for a six story tower you would need a much bigger lot than you expect from the size of the floor area.
