Especially since we can leave out all those unnecessary "u"s.   Grin

Yeah!  Let's hear it for "color" and "honor" and "favorites" and "behavior!"  Grin

So why not naybor, slay (meaning sleigh) lite, etc.  Why not just bring in a phonetic alphabet and have done with it?

I think the next generation is thinking that way - heck they are even doing away with more that that: M8, L8, NE1, etc

Will there be anything left that's recognisable as language, I wonder?  And unless someone bothers to rewrite all the classics in this new code, a whole world of literature will remain a closed book to them - until they make a remake of the remake of the remake of the movie of the book......

Oh, how many times I've wanted to phonetically re-write our language!

Anywho, back to the original topic, I've yet to see just exactly how many times that want would spin up on a Knowlege sim.  I've got a couple of knowledge sims.  The husband is Dorian, the policeman (by the way, if you want to find the absolute sweetest sim in the neighborhood it's got to be this guy!), and the wife is CAS-created.  The first day in their new home I honestly thought Dorian was going to pass out before those wants stopped rolling.  I finally had to just let it end, let him eat and send him to bed.

And I've seen this over and over with Knowledge sims since NL.  Suddenly they've gone nympho!

Well, Max is male - what's the male equivalent of a nympho anyway?

But now all he wants to do is gain skill points - back to the boring old knowledge sim that he truly is, I guess!  But Willow still doesn't want to get married or have a baby - so maybe I should force the issue?

satyriasis

sa·ty·ri·a·sis Pronunciation (st-r-ss, st-)
n.
Excessive, often uncontrollable sexual desire in and behavior by a man.
[Late Latin satyrisis, from Greek saturisis, from saturos, satyr.]

From this article at Wikipedia:  http://encyclopedia.tfd.com/nymphomania

The disorder is now referred to as hypersexuality in both genders.

Quote
Hypersexuality describes human sexual behavior at levels high enough to be considered clinically significant.

Nymphomania was believed to be a psychological disorder peculiar to females and characterized by an overactive libido and an obsession with sex. In males the disorder was called satyriasis (for etymology of the words, see nymph and satyr). "Nymphomania" and "satyriasis" are no longer listed as specific disorders in the DSM-IV.

Nymphomania owes its name to the feminine nature spirits of Ancient Greece, known as nymphs. These ethereal beings were known in folklore for their sensuality and overtly sexual pursuit of men. The term nymphomaniac is perhaps best known to consumers of pornography, where women are often described as "nymphos" or "nymphomaniacs." Satyriasis owes its name to the mythical masculine creatures of Ancient Greece, half man/half goat creatures known as Satyrs.

A recent shift in the meaning of the term "nymphomania" is now being used to describe people who never feel fulfilled after sexual activity no matter how often or intense the experiences are.

The threshold for what constitutes hypersexuality is subject to debate, and critics question if a standardized diagnostic threshold even exists. Sex drive varies widely in humans, and what one person would consider a "normal" sex drive might be considered excessive by some, and low by others. The consensus among those who consider this a disorder is that the threshold is met when the behavior causes distress or impaired social functioning.

Well, he has a beard, so I suppose he does slightly resemble a goat!  I think I probably knew that, but my memory is not what it was, and the word I need sometimes excapes me these days!

Trying to read some of the personalized license plates can be an exercise in futility.  And makes it hard to concentrate on driving!  They use a lot of letter/number combos that are supposed to be cute - like "L8 4 WRK" (and that's an easy one!).

Trouble is, I think, once you are literate, then illiteracy is both annoying and confusing!

I don't think spelling words like "color" and "favor" means you're lazy.  That's the way we were taught and that's the way it looks right.  I'm not advocating shortening words and spelling things phonetically.  It's just what we are used to, just as British people are used to the other way of spelling.  Tongue

I'm certainly not saying that the US way of spelling is lazy!  Quite honestly, as long as you spell a word correctly according to how you were taught, and others can understand you, that's all that matters!  But text-messaging has a lot to answer for.......

True.  I hate when people spell thinks like gr8 and U and R.  That's laziness to me, and I have a hard time reading it.  I think that when you are writing anything, a post on the Internet, an email, whatever, it's your responsibility to make yourself understood, not always putting it off on the person reading as if it's up to them to make sense of what you're trying to say.

Well, if you post something that no-one (except maybe other teens) can understand, you can hardly expect a response!  (At least, not one that is of any use!)

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I'm very happy with the knowlege aspiration change in NL.  I was so bored with knowlege sims--they didn't seem to love their spouses.  It made for a shortened elder stage cause they were unbearable.  The knowlege sims that do that in my game sprung the want before they ever had a relationship.  Heather(Pleasantview Uni)brought a guy home to woohoo in bed(they didn't have a double bed so I paused and bought one and three knowlege sims sprung up the want to woohoo.  Now they are married with children and they still go through the woohoo cycle every day.  Rainelle married Jimmy Pheonix(changed both to wealth)and they had the usual engagement, wedding, wedding party--then have baby wants.  It was usual till the baby turned to a tot and they both sprung up wants for another baby.  Never have seen that before.  They are so completely in love.  I think for a sim to be so devoted to their spouse it needs to be their first relationship.  If they have loved someone else, it waters down the relationship.  It also seems like not all three bolts are equal.  It is better for the personalities to match more than aspiration or turn on and turn offs.  Consort married a romance sim and he rolled wants all about her constantly.  After he woohooed he would roll want to talk to her and then all of the usual wealth wants but I wouldn't fulfil any of them and the panel would be all about her in no time.  I think Maxis has loosened the aspiration restraints a little to make room for the sims personality.  Which is good.
