Brightness/Gamma issue?
« on: 2009 September 04, 09:25:35 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I play most of my games with the brightness/gamma lower then the default as I have a LCD screen (Dell E207WPF, A lot of people say it has dodgy colouring like blacks and greys are too bright) but with The Sims 3, just before the game starts up the screen brightens and then the game starts and all of my changes for the contrast and gamma and brightness have almost no effect. Can anyone help me because in Windowed mode The Sims 3 looks really good (colouring anyway) but in fullscreen it seems too bright.

The configuration for this should be in your drivers. Or, you know, you could just use Windowed mode.

Ok, i'll go through my display drivers. If I can't fix it, well i'll just play it in Windowed mode.

ATI drivers allow multiple configurations, i.e. one for normal windowed apps, one for 3D apps (like the Sims), and will set up to auto-switch when you open full-screen programs.  If you have an ATI card the Catalyst Controller is pretty easy to go through to set up.

I have an Nvidia card and I found the 3D Settings for multiple programs (Thats how I forced V-sync on) but there was nothing about the brightness.
