1  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Vanishing neighbourhoods?! on: 2007 November 10, 20:24:29
I'm sorry, I only seem to come here when things go tits-up.  Sad

I have Sims 2 base game, Uni, NL, and I had issues with OFB, which had been behaving pretty well up till last week, when I noticed that Pleasantview and Strangetown were missing from the neighbourhood view. Gosh, said I, that's a rotter. I've removed the Sims 2 folder and re-started OFB. That worked really well...until I shut down the game. When I restarted, PV and ST were gone again. Re-did the folder thing. Worked again. Played nicely, then shut the game down. Went to start it up again yesterday morning, and PV was gone but ST had stuck around.

Oh, I have a non-Intel Mac Mini. What the hell is going on? No new hacks, either. Did notice a jump in one of my Uni Sims. He wouldn't shower no matter how stinky he got. Are the two issues related?

I do have CEP, but I can't remember when I updated it, either after Uni or NL. I'll keep weeding through my downloads. According to WooHoo, I had 137 corrupt files. I find that really hard to believe, but I trashed them all anyway. I am aware that I'll come to regret that, but what the hell. Re-downloading at the speed of dial-up is so *challenging*, you know?

Actually, I had downloaded some easels last night from MTS2. Those were the first things I killed, but alas...I'll keep checking.

Zazazu, stoppit! No more of the game breakage now, you hear?  Tongue

Seelindarun, THANK you! I thought I was losing it. I'm doing the WooHoo thing to all my downloads and there are suddenly a bunch of corrupted ones, so I'm slowly weeding them out. The game DOES load in its vanilla state, so it's obviously due to my crash that I'm having issues (indeed, now the game crashes at the intro instead of just hanging there)

Hello all, you may remember me as the wench who lost all custom content when she installed NL. Never did figure out why, just had to re-download everything. That was so much fun!! /sarcasm

Anywho, just got OFB and installed it, no probs. Managed to load a family to find most of their furniture was bright blue. No major issue, just used the little swatch thing to recolour their stuff. Managed to play the family for 45 minutes, then it froze. I said a nasty word and just shut my computer (non-Intel Mac Mini) off and went to bed. Tried to spark it up this morning and it gets hung up on the intro screen, right at "reticulated splines for sale $2000". WTF? I've verified disk permissions and all that but no joy. Should I just suck it up and reinstall?

All three are true.   Huh
Thanks for walking me through this, guys. I'm beginning to think that it just sucks to be me.

Thanks, that'll be my next try!

I can maybe help: I have a non intel Mac too, and have had the same problem (official unresolved bug).

So far, the only way I found out to workaround is:

- Go to /Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Config
- Open userProps.xml with TextEdit or other text editor (NOT Word or such)
- One of the first lines is:
  <AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">false</AnyBoolean>

change it to:

  <AnyBoolean key="allowCustomContent" type="0xcba908e1">true</AnyBoolean>

Thanks Marhis. When I opened up the userProps, my customcontent line already had "true" in it rather than false. This is baffling me (admittedly, that's pretty easily done)  Huh

Thanks! I'll fart around with TextEdit when I'm fully awake.

Now, now, Stupid-to-English Translator, no need to hurt yourself.  Wink

Okay, so the new custom content I've just downloaded shows up just fine, but most of my old Uni walls, skintones, furniture, etc. does NOT appear in the cc catalogue and THAT'S what I'm trying to locate. Should I just suck it up and re-download everything?

Spanks! I'll give it a whirl now!

I know, I know. Not a new topic, but I've searched multiple forums and have tried many things, yet my cc does NOT show up in game. I've lost all my nifty CAS stuff and my stylish furniture.

1. Running a Mac, but not Intel. Have base game, Uni, NL.
2. Have the NL patch.
3. CC enabled in game, but most likely I played a bit and saved before enabling. Does this cause disastrous results?
4. Downloads folder has capital D.
5. Tried removing and replacing downloads folder.
6. Have updated CEP thing.

I'd really appreciate some advice as I'm dying to get at my game.
