1 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Are ninjas ... people? on: 2007 December 11, 15:08:13
I was using TJ's Crystal Ball to find a date for one of my Sims, and a ninja was one of her matches. I chose not to summon him, fearing that he might be a weird class of NPC that you're not supposed to do anything with. Is this accurate? Or can I have little ninja babies?
2 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims stuck on vacation on: 2007 October 12, 15:10:29
This is different than the issue karen posted about. Two Sims go on vacation to their vacation home, leaving grandpa and a kid back home. They have a lovely vacation, go back home, get their extra want slots and perks, and then... get on a van to go on vacation again. The game takes me to their vacation home, where the trip meter says "Time to go home" but no van comes and using the telephone to end the vacation does nothing. I can't play the home lot, since they're on vacation, but I can't end the vacation, either.

At this point, I'm fine with killing them both off, but are there other solutions to this?
3 Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: Anti-Redundancy *CRITICAL FOR BVp0* on: 2007 September 21, 19:22:06
I got BV this week and installed this hack before playing it. Now, it is entirely possible I'm an idiot, but I haven't seen a single tour guide. Where are they supposed to be? Is it possible that this hack prevented *any* from spawning? Should I take it out, play the game, and then stick it back in?

Flaming me is more than welcome.
4 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More realistic/difficult relationships? on: 2007 July 13, 14:34:50
The readme for enemies accumulate is a little confusing...
Um, where might one find this readme? After poking around a bit, I see that there are quite a few hacks that are only available in the director's cut, which doesn't contain a rtfm file.

And if this has been addressed elsewhere, please forgive me: is there any sort of hack that makes romantic relationships decay? I had a romance sim who "settled down" and turned into a wealth sim, and even though she hasn't called any of her university lovers in ages, she's still in love with them. She's not even friends with a good chunk of them -- it seems that love would decay faster than friendship if not maintained. Or maybe my game is broken? I don't know.
5 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity leave for dads? on: 2007 June 28, 19:03:27
Okay, that's what I figured I'd have to end up doing. I just didn't know what the Maxian odds were. Cheers.
6 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maternity leave for dads? on: 2007 June 28, 18:11:33
My understanding of the mod is that you can either choose the number of babies, or you can set the odds. I don't want to choose (since I like the idea of possibly getting twins), but I don't want the mod as-is since I don't have any interest in having three or four babies at a time. With ACR installed, my Sims are popping out babies often enough as it is. So I'd either like a mod that just allows the player to pick which parent will stay home after every birth, or find out what the Maxian defaults for twins are so I can simulate it with TJ's mod.
7 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Maternity leave for dads? on: 2007 June 28, 18:00:13
Is there a mod that allows you to choose which parent will stay at home with the newborn? I know that TwoJeff's trips/quads mod allows it, but I don't really want to introduce more babies into my game. I'm a bit frustrated with the whole forced housewifery thing in my hetero couples. And the nanny is right out.

If no one can think of one, does anyone know what the default odds for twins are? 10%? I suppose I could alter TJ's chances of multiple births to zero for triplets and quadruplets and whatever the Maxian default is for twins, I guess.

Please feel free to mock me as you choose. Cheers.
8 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My pets don't die soon enough. (Age duration hack?) on: 2007 January 05, 18:12:24
I know, maybe I'm a callous bitch (er, that's pretty likely), but the idea of my pets living for 20-some sim days as an adult bugs me. I want to adopt a kitten on the same day that I have a Simkid, and then have that kid cry when Mittens dies before she starts college. I did a search and it looks like TwoJeffs had plans to do an age duration hack at one point, but I haven't found anything. Is that still in the works? Has anyone else done a similar hack?
Part of the reason pet lifespans are the way they are is that if pets dropped dead with an average lifespan of 12 days or so, the turnover rate would be very high and you'd get a lot of DEAD CHARACTER FILES everywhere. Huge mess.
Oh, right. And the more dead pets, the sooner the apocalypse. Gotcha.

Okay! Fewer pets for everyone!
9 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My pets don't die soon enough. (Age duration hack?) on: 2007 January 04, 20:55:15
Ah, gotcha. Thank you!

And I don't want to edit my game files -- I'm happy with my non-BFBVFS game. I might try it later, but SimPE is completely unintuitive and slow and terrifies me a little. So I'll just have little Fluffy put to sleep via your cake.

Really want I want is for TwoJeffs to do the work for me.
10 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My pets don't die soon enough. (Age duration hack?) on: 2007 January 04, 19:39:52
You can get my birthday cake (there are versions with or without the anti-ageing patch) and with that you can choose when any sim or pet ages up to the next stage including dying.

Alternatively I have created an isolated "agecons" BCON that you can edit with your prefered life stage durations.

Look on http://simlogical.com/dinnerbell/index.php
Well, shit. I have your cake! I just didn't know it worked for pets. Would Merola's mind control mirror work, then?

And ... uh... your second sentence appears to be in English, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Smiley

12 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Dumb question, re: pets' last names on: 2006 December 30, 11:05:10
Pet last name strings exist, but are empty. Just create your Pets in CAS as a separate family, and do not give them a last name at all. You can always merge them in with some Sims through the neighbourhood screen.
Ah, thank you. I like to create my own pets and then move them into target families, anyway, so this should be okay. And using SimPE is always an option, even though it frightens me.
13 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Dumb question, re: pets' last names on: 2006 December 30, 03:51:45
Is there any way to remove a pet's last name other than SimPE? I don't know why, but it bugs me to see cats and dogs with surnames.

Also, are there any mods/hacked objects that help develop pets relationships with each other? I had two cats I wanted to breed, but they hate each other. I could edit their relationship in SimPE, but I was just curious if there was another way about it.
14 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Um. Musical pee? on: 2006 December 23, 17:04:53
Wait, that's normal? The hell?
15 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Um. Musical pee? on: 2006 December 23, 14:02:09
My god, all my errors invovle bodily functions, it seems. Anyway, one of my Legacy children, Isaac, makes... xylophone noises when he pees. It started when he was a child and he's a teenager now and it hasn't stopped. It's kinda funny, but also really, really weird. Any idea how I can fix this? It's not a big deal, but, again, weird. He's been deleted and restored, but the pee still sounds like a xylophone.

I'm thinking he's not gonna be the heir.
16 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Burglar go bye bye? on: 2006 December 22, 14:10:54
Does the burgular alarm actually affect the odds of a burgular showing up? I suppose that makes some sense.

I've never seen a burgular, ever. I also put burgular alarms at every entrance, though. Might try taking them out, just to see.
17 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: wolf/werewolf fear's spam on: 2006 December 19, 21:51:41
Hm. Now I'm reconsidering whether I want to pick up OMGPETZ this weekend.

On the other hand, I don't really pay attention to the fears for most of my Sims. All of the kids fear a relative breaking up, which seems pretty ridiculous given that most of their parents are Family Sims with 100/100 relationships. Too bad the system isn't detailed enough to generate fears based on certain things which are more likely to happen. A kid fearing a D report card when he's sitting on an A+ is just ridiculous.

I mean, I don't worry about getting fired unless I'm skipping work or spending all day playing on the internet. ... erm. Gotta go.
18 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Wants & Fears problem. on: 2006 December 18, 22:00:23
What's more annoying is romance sims who wants to marry someone yet are afraid to marry them at the same time.
Argh, yes. My romance Sim wanted to be married (not engaged, but married) to three different Sims and had the fear of being married to the same three Sims. I try to let my Sims sorta pick their spouses (as soon as the want to get engaged pops up, I go with it), but this was just nuts.

In other words: try foreplay.

Eleonora, you must be hot!

Nailati, the work you've done so far is amazing. I hope someone can help you straighten this out!

22 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Infant won't grow up (insert witty title here :P) on: 2006 December 12, 18:50:51
I once had this problem, except the mother was pregnant and nearly out of energy. She woke up from her sleep, walked over to the baby and tried to assist with the birthday until she eventually passed out. Good times.
23 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Satisfying baby want on: 2006 December 12, 02:23:32
Those are most like gossip memories -- the sim isn't having the romantic thoughts, they're replaying the gossip memory of some other sim who was farting hearts over the sim in question. So the son was probably replaying the gossip memory from his father (or whoever the mother's lover is Smiley).
So they're not in love with their mom, they're just repeating salacious gossip about her. And occasionally dreaming about said gossip. Okay, that's a tiny bit more palatable.
24 TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Satisfying baby want on: 2006 December 11, 19:16:14
Has anyone else noticed their Sims having romantic thoughts about their own siblings? When my Sims are dreaming or talking about their family, those stupid hearts appear around the bubble. They don't have lightning bolts in the panel, they just get the hearts. I had a Sim have those hearts about his own mother.

If this is something else that was fixed after NL, I'll but that EP just to stop it. It creeps me out.
25 TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Crap. Screen resolution problems, maybe? on: 2006 December 11, 01:44:44
On Saturday my video card was giving me trouble (specifically, it kept minimizing my game to give me some sort of error message, but everything seemed to work fine), so I put in a different one. When I booted up the game, it loaded in 800 by 600 without the option to increase the resolution. Fine, whatever, I do the thing where you copy over the medium settings to the low settings and booted it up again. Except now, every time I run the game, it works for about three minutes and then crashes to the desktop ("The application has crashed and will now terminate."). I switched video cards to a third option, no dice, and then went back to the first card and am now having the same problem. I first thought I was having a hack conflict since I had downloaded some new ones Saturday night, but the game was working with them before. (And the hacks were all awesome; I don't think I have any non-awesome hacks.) I restored to my previously backed up game files and that wouldn't work, either. Like the egregious idiot I am, I didn't back up the graphics rules.sgr file before fiddlin' with it, and I'm thinking that that might be the problem. Oddly, the game still boots up in 800 by 600, even though that's not listed as any of the default options. ANYWAY, could someone copy out their Nightlife settings for me to stick back in there? It's usually in C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSData\Res\Config, and the file is "graphics rules.sgr". The only thing I mucked with was the section under "option ScreenModeResolution", copying the medium settings to the low and mediumbutdefaultlow settings (the latter part of which might be my problem).

I'm hoping this will solve my problem. If not, I'll be back here, asking about how to fix the BFBVFS my game has become.
