1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Bugs in WA on: 2010 January 12, 21:57:08
This isn't really a bug, but it is a huge annoyance. I recently received an adventure in Egypt where I had to find a library hidden under someone's house. Problem is, both residents are shopkeepers, and of course the shops are open 24/7, so now I can't complete the quest.

You might try going into Edit Town mode for that vacation neighborhood. Move the shopkeepers to a different house and place another family there.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Insane Fix to make Riverview work. on: 2010 January 07, 06:50:41
I had the same problem with the floaty neighborhood thing as well, except for vacation hoods. I followed the steps in this post and everything works fine with no floaty wonkiness.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / [Solved] Certain Households Have No "Visit" Option on: 2010 January 05, 07:40:05
Forgive me if this has been posted previously, but any combination of search words turned up no relevant topics.

I have a problem with my chosen family. They are unable to visit certain other households. There is no option at all to visit them, only Master Controller (as I have the Nraas Computer mod). When moving the camera to these lots, I am able to see inside them as if they were the active household without actually making them so.

Thinking this may have been a mod problem, I removed all mods and restarted. Unfortunately, that didn't work.

I have tried:

- Moving an afflicted family to another lot allows the "Visit [Household Name]" option on that lot. Moving them back results in the same problem.
- Bulldozing the afflicted house and then moving the family onto the empty lot also results in the same problem.
- Using the Nraas computer to reset the lot does not work.
- The problem persists with Afflicted Family A moving into Afflicted Family B's lot and vice versa.
- Moving an unafflicted family into a household previously owned by an afflicted family resulted in the same problem.

At first there seemed to be no pattern to the families: one un-chosen family was untouched by this affliction. I sat around and thought about each family, wondering if there was some connection. Then it occurred to me I might have been stupid enough to bring this down upon myself. Sometimes when a child of the chosen household decided to bring over a friend, I would get annoyed and use "resetsim [name]" to get rid of them as they appeared on the lot, because for some reasons my kids were never able to ask them to leave and I hated interrupting the parents to go make them leave, thus getting themselves a new acquaintance/friend every time they gave one of the unwanted guests the boot. It appears all of the LOTS of the households afflicted by this continue the same problem. I could understand why this might affect a household, but I can't understand why it might affect an entire lot.

(On another, perhaps related, note, the chosen household has no house thumbnail on the save file. This occurred long before the visitation problems. The family thumbnail is still there. It used to, but at some point it stopped appearing. I'd heard about problems occurring when the family portrait is missing or is the generic dotted white outline, but could not turn up any results on the house thumbnail itself being missing. Since further gameplay did not produce any particular problems other than the aesthetics of a blank save file, I continued.)

One solution would be to just not have any families live on those lots, but that's hardly a solution at all with limited housing options. Have I screwed up my neighborhood far beyond repair? I have a lot of time invested in this neighborhood and would hate to see it go.  Undecided

EDIT: I found a working solution. Any attempts of one of the afflicted to invite over the chosen would result in a "Something suddenly came up" even though I knew they were standing around idle. Going back to the chosen household, I could manually move my sim over to the afflicted household and enter it as if he had already been invited in. While the chosen sim was on the lot, I used the Nraas supercomputer to reset the lot, which resulted in my sim being booted back to his place and the house now allows him to visit. Doing this with the other households seems to have reversed the problem. Resetting the lot without one of the chosen household being there fixes it, while just attempting to reset the lots without a chosen visitor does nothing. I guess somehow resetting visiting sims resulted in permanent reverse visitation rights.
4  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Manually creating .dbc archives. on: 2010 January 02, 11:43:43
I too tried this, though I don't have nearly as much CC as Ozrae, perhaps less than 100 files altogether, mostly hair and some clothes, which tend to be larger files. I was unsure of what Anach meant by Step #6, so I cautiously  skipped it.

Have about 8 .dbc files after organizing the CC. I left the hacks alonel: I'm running AM, NRaas Supercomputer, 2xbill, NoMosaicWA (updated at the same time as trying out the .dbc thing), and MoreFreqOpp.

Cleared cache and prefetch just to be safe, ensmallened the savefile, and 3booted up. Didn't notice a quicker overall neighborhood load but usually I don't sit around and time it. House and furniture loading seemed faster but this was the beginning of a play session rather than the tail end of four or five hours. House switching seemed faster, even though only two pieces of CC were Buy Mode things (both are cars).

Had a CTD around the time YA Sim #1 was ready to come home from work at the Science Lab (he got singed) while YA Sim#2 was in the shower, maybe 2:30pm. Three kids at school. 3booted up again, played through the same day (YA #1 did not get singed this time), got to midnight, saved and quit. Not sure what caused the CTD but just now I checked in my Mods/Packages and realized I left the skins .package files in the folder with the .dbc. Wondering if that may have been a contributing factor, or if skipping Step 6 is to blame.

In any case, I am still willing to keep trying this, as anything that cuts down the house-switching load times can't be bad. That was the primary reason for me keeping to The One Fambly, and neglecting my other chosen.
5  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Problem solved... for now. on: 2009 December 19, 23:33:53
I was able to remedy the problem (at least temporarily). It may have been in part because of the seeds, I don't know, but what I did do was this:

I put all mods/custom content back into my game, launched. Created a new Riverview, copied the supermarket, went to my saved game, replaced the old supermarket with the copied one. That didn't fix that problem (and in fact made the supermarket unselectable from the map but interactable from zoomed in view, but luckily this was a test save), so I used AM's "Nuke" command to destroy my sim. Saved, selected his neighbor's house, invited him over, took control of him that way. His inventory and wishes were purged. I tossed him a fish from his fridge and sent him down to the riverbank. Success! It also made the supermarket selectable, I think. Not entirely sure.

I'm going to make another copy of the non-test save and simply try removing any seeds from his inventory. It's very strange, because his husband definitely has seeds he picked up from around the town but had none of the problems with fishing and supermarket activity that he did.

EDIT: Gary, you're marvelous. Removing the seeds fixed both the supermarket problem and the fishing with bait one. Nuking him only appeared to address the issue because it purged his inventory.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sim canīt fish any more on: 2009 December 19, 23:05:17
This is also happening in my game as well. I have two YA sims living together in Riverview. One of them has fishing at Level 10 and every time I try to have him fish with bait, he resets back at the house. If he fishes without bait, it's fine.

However, he also has the supermarket problem; I first noticed this when he got an opportunity called A Lobster Crisis, which required him to go into the supermarket. Unfortunately, this was a day or two ago and I cannot recall anything I might have done, except I did receive a Flagrant System Error randomly which I now regret not taking a screenshot. I couldn't select the supermarket and clicking on the opportunity icon did nothing. I circumvented this problem by running SupCom on Collect: Seeds, which forced him to take care of the opportunity first. He was able to enter the supermarket that way, but after he completed the opportunity, he still was not able to interact in any way with the supermarket.

I'm on the 1.7.9.002002 patch with the latest AwesomeMod. I do not have WA installed. I removed all my mods and custom content, delete the 4 cache files in the My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, and also cleared out the Windows/Prefetch. I started up the game (I had to implement a temporary crack .exe to bypass the CD check) and tried to fish with him again. He continues to reset and has no access to the supermarket. His husband, however, is able to fish with bait just fine and still has access to the supermarket. I have not observed this problem in the other 5 sims I occasionally play.

I have also tried using different types of bait but to no avail. Using the resetSim <name> did not fix it, and trying out fixall (when AM was still installed) also did not help.

I'll be a little disappointed if this is irreparable, but just knowing what causes this problem would be a great help regardless.
7  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: No Restaurant Guide Royalties? on: 2009 March 03, 21:26:55
Does your house have a landline? I seem to recall novels require the house having a landline in order for the royalty call to come . Same with the Restaurant Guide sales.
8  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Seasons Errors on: 2007 May 30, 19:52:44
I too recently begun receiving the work-related errror, and it began today, disappearing car and all. For the carpool situation, she got into the carpool as normal but as soon as it disappeared I received the error. For one lot it didn't occur immediately, but only after the family had lived there for about 7-10 days. For another family, the same also occured. I did not install any new hacks this morning, so I'm wondering why this error is popping up now, when I've never had an error like this before at all.

With testingcheats on I'm getting an "invalid constant" error. I'm attaching the error logs in case they can be of any use. I've poked around and made sure all my hacks were up to date, although it's possible I missed one.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Is there a hack for Rich Sims on: 2006 December 07, 19:38:25
I thought it was 50,000 for sims with no family relations/ties, and 500,000 for sims with family of some kind. There've been times when my sims got married and had more than 50,000 each but did not fulfill the "Marry a Rich Sim" want. Both came from families, not from CAS.
10  Awesomeware / The Armory / Re: No Stray Respawns on: 2006 November 08, 03:44:26
If you use this hack and use DAC to clear your neighborhood of useless gutter trash, then use the Pet Adoption Service option on the telephone, will the game not generate any pets to be adopted? Or will it create an entire new pool?  I tried doing this on a test neighborhood, wondering if it would regenerate a new pool of adoptees, but the game seemed to have frozen. Not completely, but a good amount of time passed and nothing was happening, and I was still able to alt-tab out to attend to other tasks. I wonder if this situation has ever happened to anyone else or is expected as a result of the combination of nostrayrespawns and DAC. No error message popped up so I'm unsure if anything was recorded by the game, or if the game was just confused by the sequence of events. In any case it's not a big deal but I am curious if it just takes a ridiculously long amount of time to regenerate an entire new pool or if indeed the game encountered some kind of problem and got itself stuck.
