TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Buying a Pet spits out random elders

Well that was an easy fix! Thank you for pointing that button out. I never had to use it before and I've had Pets and bought pets since it came out. I went back and checked in the vanilla hood and by default the dogs were adult stage and the cats defaulted to the elder stage. As an additional check, I went back to my regular hood and there it is just the opposite, dogs default to elder and cats default to adult. Very strange! Thanks again!

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Buying a Pet spits out random elders

I have all EP's and most SP's and all patches. The majority of my hacks are from the Director's Cut. I don't have any hacks that relate to pets or aging pets or sims. Every time I purchase a pet, I get an elder pet. I have to use SimPE every time to set the age back to adult. So I went into a completely vanilla hood and these are some results in one session; 1st trip, kitty buy #1 2nd trip pooch buy #4 3rd trip pooch buy #1 3rd trip kitty buy #2 This experiment was rather interesting as in my regular hood, I mostly bought dogs and they always showed up as elder, and they don't really look elder either, but in this vanilla hood, it's the cats that are showing up elder and the dogs are normal!? If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful. Thanks

<snipped> As far as sims picking up the phone and dropping it right away, I noticed this ONLY happens if I ignore a phone call until it auto-drops and then attempt to do a Call Sim. I need to play around with the screening features because the stupid "hey, want a magazine subscription?" calls will ring for freaking EVER if you don't pick them up.
I really hope you can find out what might be causing this, because the constant whining from "friends" and the stupid "would it kill you to call" messages drove me so crazy I had to put this phone hack back in. I would rather have to do it twice!

I'm not sure if this is phone hack related or something else, but every time I tell my sim to use the phone, I have to do it twice. The first time, they pick up the phone and immediately hang it back up. The second time, it functions as normal.
I've had the same problem with all my sim families in Belladonna Cove with the phone hack, always having to do it twice. I took out the phone hack, but left in the phone talk module, so it doesn't happen anymore. This was happening with all the families on any of the pre-existing lots. I only use the DC so .

I am consistently unable to reproduce this issue, and there is no reason why it should do that. It should not depend on what lot you use and I have never been able to freeze it. Therefore, it must somehow be your fault, so quit messing with it. The Lot Debugger is not a toy.
Well, I can consistently reproduce this issue and I KNOW its not a toy and I am NOT "messing with it", I wouldn't even KNOW how to mess with your mods. I am using it as per your instructions for this mod. I have a completely fresh install from scratch. The only mods I have (from the most recent "moreawesomethanyou" zip) are the following; alfixes.package antiredundancy.package antiweatherreaction.package ffsdebugger.package ltwvariety.package nobabyharassment.package noeatcrap.package nostrayrespawn.package notownieregen.package nowhatsthis.package phonehack.package phonehack-talkmodule.package sshack.package table-thinkingcap.package vacationfixes.package I removed all other custom content. I also included quotes from two other members who have had the same issue, so I am not the only one. I have reproduced this issue several times with different lots, all AL playable lots. When I use the Lot Debugger by pressing the menu options, "clearing trash" and "nuked attraction markers" I am able to save. I then use the "clear gossip", a pop-up comes up saying "cleared 136 something" as usual, I then go to save and it just hangs and hangs until I have to go to the desktop and end task. I have Sims 2 Double Deluxe as my base game, would this have anything to do with it?

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / FFS Debugger - Clearing Gossip freezes while SOLVED

<snipped>
New glitch: When saving, I've been having the game freeze up on me sometimes during the save process. I am now saving every 5-10 (real life) minutes so that I don't have to keep replaying the same days over and over and over again.
I suspect it may be related to "clear gossip" on the batbox, as it only does it when I've finished playing the lot and I try to save (I routinely clear gossip before I move on to another lot). Doesn't seem to occur during my "just in case I can't save later" saves. I tested this theory by "clearing trash" and was able to save, then I nuked attraction markers and was able to save. After these successful saves I immediately cleared gossip, and got a freeze during save. I'll try playing a few lots without clearing gossip and if I get any more frozen saves I'll update this post. The game-hangs-on-save-after-clearing-gossip thing happened to me, but only after I also had witches in the family. I cleared gossip once before and saved fine, after making two witches and clearing gossip saving the game froze my computer. And of course I only remembered I oughtn't have done that after it happened. I am having the same problem as the above members (no witches in my families) and I haven't seen this addressed as of yet, if it has, I haven't seen it and apologize in advance. I have the latest version of FFS Lot Debugger (09/02/208) and I have used it on brand new lots and the game still freezes when saving. Thanks

you guys are quick! Thanks everyone for your awesome contributions and hard work in making this available for us non-awesome simmers. To think I almost downloaded that EA downloader but stopped, both because of the lack of payment options and I thought I better check for the Securom issue. I am very glad I did.

You're missing the knowledge you need to do things at the DOS prompt, which means you probably shouldn't muck around with your computer until you gain that knowledge. You could seriously farkle your registry if you don't know what you're doing, to the point where you'd have to reinstall windows to get your machine operating again.
Oh, and no, you don't have to uninstall the game.
I'm not completely computer illiterate and I feel that by asking and learning to do things myself is how I become less computer illiterate. However, I should have read the entire thread as there was some great info on why this didn't work for me and I also found Li'l Brudder's steps very helpful. Thanks

I have been trying to follow the directions in the first post of this topic.
I downloaded RegDelNull and clicked on the exe, I don't know where it installed to as it was very quick, but it looked like the dos mode?
When I run command or cmd from the run menu, it comes up C:\Documents and Settings\myname> or C:\Docume~1\myname>
When I type in regdelnull and the rest as per instructions, it tells me its not a recognizable command. If I change directory "cd C:" it comes up with C:\> I type in the command and the message says the same thing.
Is there something I am missing? Or perhaps the program did not install in the right place?
Also, do I have to uninstall the game?
Thanks

You're right, Tiffany is one hot mama!! Anyhoo, all joking aside, how can I tell if the game is treating them as a male, they are only townies, and any and all interactions with them are the same as any sim, greet, joke, fight, slap, etc., (which funnily enough is what they all seem to do to each other, argue, slap and fight ) What interaction would they do that would tell me that? Of course I was thinking of just moving the garden club members, one at a time, into their own lot and see if newly generated ones would do the same thing.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Female Garden Club Members have male voices
|
on: 2008 May 17, 18:52:18

I did read the post in Podium "Hello, what gender are you?" I did mention in there that Tiffany Zarabin had the male voice, but it is not just her, it is all the female members of the Garden Club who have the male voices.
My game is fresh from installing Freetime. I have all the exp packs up to Freetime as well as most of the stuff packs up to and incuding K&B, and I have not patched with the latest patch as this particular issue was not among the problems listed. I have mostly JMP's hacks, however this started right from the beginning before I put any hacks in .
Of course this is not a big issue but definitely annoying. Is there something in SimPE where I could change the voice to female?
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks

So I played my game last night and Tiffany Zarubin, one of the dedicated Garden Club Sims, when she talked, it was one of the male voices! That is very strange as it has never happened to me before Any idea what it could be?

What a concidence! While I was playing last night, I took one of my playables downtown, two different lots, and I swore I heard a male voice coming out of a female townie, in both lots! She was actually just chatting with another townie! Freaky! I just figured it was my imagination as it was late or just another wonderful glitch of FT I'll have to see if that happens again when I play tonight! PS Professorbutters is an awesome storyteller too!

@ jolrei, thanks! I hope it's not a mod, soo time consuming! . @ Ness, thank you for your reply, I was worried that I might have caused some unseen errors, so far so good! It's definitely hard to decide on 50 (WOW that is a lot) or just doing a few. I am glad I only got 15 or so, I think that will be plenty. @ abelle, thanks for the info, I am glad not to be the only one who had this problem. I might go with the CAS option next time around, give more uniqueness to the hood!

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Object error from batch creating dormies in FT :(
|
on: 2008 April 14, 19:31:44

After using the empty templates for the university hoods, I wanted to batch create dormies and using Jordi's instructions (4b), I used the mailbox instead of the NPC and Townie maker as the latter would only give me the option of generate one townie at a time. Using the mailbox, I was able to select generate townies and then selected townies ( I assume this is the same procedure for dormies in the university hoods.) It would start the generation process and then stop and produce an ObjectError box. I tried again several times and was able to generate around 15 but I stopped after getting so many ObjectError boxes. I have all expansions up to and including FT, unpatched. I use only mods from the DC with the exception of; Other hacks: Carrigon_ForeverBurnFireplaces, No Shoving from Look Through, alexx_no_automusplay_funmore55_FT,alexx_no_autosplash_puddle, and alexx_Visitors_Still_Here_FT Any suggestions would be great! I don't think this is a bug, as I see people have been able to accomplish what I cannot. With the exception of the hacks listed below, I only have the mods from the DC. Other hacks: Carrigon_ForeverBurnFireplaces, MQ_Relationship_STR_Decay_Hack, MQ_Visitors_Stays_Longer, No Shoving from Look Through. Every time I send a Sim (maxis made families from Freetime) to their hobby lots, everyone on the lots just leave as my Sim arrives, including the Hobby NPC. I do get the pop up from the NPC, but when I click on them or the townies, there is no interaction possible at all and again they all just leave the lot. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks

. . . speaking of this lovely hack, would it be possible to update that list for the FreeTime Careers? I would like to know what the aspirations and interests formulas are, that determine each of the careers. Thankyou

Apparenty having two Sim Plex Charisma Trainers in the game was the culprit! Speaking of which, I have the LifeStories "Sim Plex Charisma Trainer" as an object in my game, however, the "I Object Litigator" podium career award for Law, has the same graphic as the SimPlex Podium. It does work the same, gives $5 simoleans every few minutes. However it does not look like the one in the picture. Is this normal?

I always make it a habit to use Sims2Pack Clean Installer to weed out any unwanted hacks or mods, or even custom or recolored objects as well. I have been trying not to use anything but Maxis furniture and I do use all the bonus items too.
I also have most of the LS objects in the Bins folder, as well as more of the Official Maxis objects like the alienware, Urbz game, and the Simplex Charisma Trainer.
I will take all this out tonight and see if that makes a difference.
