Hmmm, I think actually the problem you're having with playing the sims 2 2 isn't the video card driver, but the fact you have a FX5200.  You need a new card, not new drivers.

Try a 6600 if you have an AGP slot or a 6800 as they're dropping in price, or a 7600 which comes in AGP I believe.

Also what's your processor?  That will have a huge effect also.

The sims 2 is a resource hog, you really can't play smoothly with most any high end system (I mean TOTALLY SMOOTH), but something stronger than a FX5200 will be a big improvement.  If that's not an option try more RAM, how much have you?

I have a 7800 GT, newegg.com had a sale, $250 after rebate. 
I'm running it now at full neigborhood view, and max AA, and detail etc, @ 1000 something by 700 something pixels.
It's a nice step up from a FX5200   

You might want to wait though maybe until the end of the month before deciding on which card to buy, as the 7600 and 7900 will be coming out, and the 7800 should drop a bit in price and the 6xxx series sould as drop a bit more.

I've had townies fight in Night clubs before... out to eat... the park, dorms etc.  I do have the fight club mod in place, and they go on for quite awhile, but if you try to interact with them, they'll stop fightnig and a victor will be determined.

I've had a normal sim bitten by a vampire so far.  The guy was out to dinner, did the surprise engagement, she accepted, then a vampire came over and bit him, then took off.

It was the count.  The sim had meet the female vampire before, and built a relationship with her, but she never but him.  It took forever to build it too, sine she mostly just hissed a lot and liked to dance....  I think the relationship score was 100/50 before they became friends, and 100/90 to be best firends, and 100/100 to be in love.  Then he got engaged to some one else, and she caught him, but still didn't bite him... although she just walks in to his house in the middle of the night and goes to his sbed room and states at him, until she gets bored and goes dance to the stero.  And to get her to leave he just asks.  Go figure.

I had the flaming sack o' poo too.  When I saw it, I was like "hmmm that looks like..."

It was a sim, who cheated on his girlfriend when they were in college, and then he moved out of college.  Then she would CONSTANTLY walk by his house in the middle of the night and sneak around putting the flaming back places, and kocking over the garbage can.  Even though they had "made up" and were 100 level best friends.

So I have her move in, she got sick from the bugs from the garbage can, called over the girl he cheated on her with and they made out int he lviing room infront of her.  She then started craying and ran out of the house and droped dead on the side walk.
