1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Transfering employees between community lots? on: 2006 September 25, 19:12:54
My Sim owns a small commuinity lot, the business has expanded and as a result she has bought a larger community lot. The plan was to sell the smaller community lot, but before doing so somehow transfer the employees she'd nurtured to the larger community lot.
Is this possible? Because I really can't fathom how to do this?Huh

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks
Kerry
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ????? No time 'unfreezing' in OFB ????? on: 2006 January 25, 14:49:10

Their needs should stay the same, but the time should be the same as the person who went the community lot (you chose to 'control' that sim and go to the community lot). And anywho, it would be an option as to whether to have the time as it is now, or as I would like it. I'd choose my way, you'd choose yours and we'd all be happy.

The age span is already too long, especially the teenage years. If your teenager chooses to have a business, you're going to be playing that sim so much, you'll get sooo bored!
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / ????? No time 'unfreezing' in OFB ????? on: 2006 January 25, 14:39:34
I've just been catching up on my Open For Business news and I'm really disappointed that they aren't going to be dealing with the issue of time when on a community lot. I don't know whether I'm just being retarded, but I thought that the one thing they were going to focus on with OFB was the 'unfreezing' of time when on a community lot.

I think that it was something that they should have addressed with NL. You'd take your sim Downtown and by the time they got home they'd could have gotten engaged with a stranger they'd met on the trip, with time pretty much exactly the same as it was when they left home.

I know that some people where dead set against time continuing whilst on a community lot, but I thought that a work around this would be an option to have it turned on/off in the control panel (much like freewill, or visible neighbours, etc)

I really am quite frustrated at this news, it was one of the core selling points for me, and what better opportunity than the open for business expansion pack.

Rant over.

What do you guys think???

Did you know that the Love Tub in the Aspiration ctalogue allows sims to woohoo without being in love too, provided they are good enough friends.

Cheers everyone for all the replies. Gonna be getting a better graphics card 2moro, bearing in mind the suggestions every one made here.
Thanks again. Smiley

Doesn't anyone else think it's strange that it's December and we haven't had any official information off EA?
I remember in May (i.e. 4 months before NL was released) watching a 15 minute video of the NL expansion pack. We haven't even had any screen shots, or an Open For Business section on the BBS of the Sims2 official site.
Is it possible they're having trouble making it, therefore postponing the release of any info?
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Graphics Card on: 2005 November 28, 20:23:45
The graphics card has 125MB. The higher option settings aren't greyed out, it's just that if I select them the gameplay is INCREDIBLY slow.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graphics Card on: 2005 November 28, 19:59:11
Up until I installed NL the sims ran really well on my computer (at the highest settings too). Then I installed NL and I had to turn the settings really low.

I bought an extra gigabyte of RAM (I used to have just 512MB), this made the loading times quicker, but made no difference to the actual gameplay.

I thought I'd buy a new graphics card, at present I have an NVidia GeForce 5200 FX, I bought an ATI Radeon 9250. It was AWFUL!! So I put the 'old' one in.
So my question is what graphics do you recommend (I'm willing to spend up to £100) and what are you thoughts on why the graphics card I bought was so rubbish?

9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 20, 19:19:26
I have NL and I downloaded the patch for those who have NL. I don't have  JMP & TJ's various Too Many Iterations Critical Fixes, I tend to only download 'fun' stuff! I'll go have a look over in the download section.

P.s., thanks for helping me.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 18, 23:36:51
I make regular back-ups of my neighbourhood folder, but since I started playing the sims (i.e. Sept 2004) I have had to replace the 'current' with the back-up at least 10 times! And in the early days I only used to make a back-up about once a month, so there was a lot of repetition, so as to get the back-up to the same stage as I was at when it went crazy.
I've never done anything with SimPe, I'm too chicken!
The last time I had a similar problem (with a teen disappearing and only being remembered as $Subject) I deleted groups.cauche and it made no difference, so I just put it back again.
I know that there's much talk on this forum about the dangers of having too many character files, I have 1338 in Pleasantview. Could this be a factor?
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 17, 19:58:04
I went to a different lot (where the father of the Harvard family lives), his daughter (who lives at the vanishing house with her mom and brother) has disappeared from his family tree and all of his memories of her are as $subject!!!?Huh And no picture of her next to the memory. Any one have any ideas?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 16, 16:42:16
I did restart it, and it made no difference, it still won't allow custom content. Any ideas??

Does anyone have any info on how and why the house disappeared, but the family remained on the plot of land?
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 15, 21:34:01
And I've just entered another lot and I can't access any of my downloads (I have lots of downloads). I click enable to the pop up just before entering Pleasantview, and when I enter Pleasantview and click on settings is says that Custom content is on, yet most the stuff in the houses (obviously not the one that's missing) is flashing blue, and all my custom content is missing from the buy/build catalogue.
Anyone have any suggestions, because this is something I have never encountered before and I have no idea how to fix it.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / House has disappeared, but plot of land still there!??? on: 2005 November 15, 21:00:42
I was playing the Harvard family last night, just loaded the sims and when I enter Pleasantview I get the neighbourhood story book pop-up, as if it were my first time of playing it.
I go to where the Harvard's live and their house (the actual builing, pool and landscaping) has DISAPEARED!!! There's a green plumbob over the land where they are (the family is still there) and I can enter the lot, but the house has vanished!
All my settings have changed (texture detail, reflection, etc). It was/is a corner property and the side of the road the mailbox/bin (and therefore taxi/car stop) used to be on has changed to the other side.

Anyone have any ideas as to what the hell has gone on?

P.s. Does anyone else think it's one problem after another with this game?
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Typical Playing Day? on: 2005 November 01, 22:24:33
Really enjoyed reading all your replies. Now I know I'm not the only one who grabs a hour of sim playing between working!
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Typical Playing Day? on: 2005 October 25, 21:55:05
I can relate to the losing weight, I decided I needed to lose some weight a couple of years ago, lost about 40lbs and felt a lot more comfortable within myself, then in my final year I put on about 15lbs. Which I'm still struggling to lose (admittedly, it's hard to lose weight whilst still eating KFC's and chocolate!). Hoping that now I'm working I'll be better! We'll see.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Typical Playing Day? on: 2005 October 25, 21:18:17
I started my first 'proper' job this Monday. Cry I'm 22, graduated from Uni in July. Up until yesterday I'd play the Sims for at least 5 hours a day (and I mean at least!), seeing as I'm now working 8am-5.30pm I can't imagine I'll be able to play in the week anymore. Which I'm very traumatised about.
I'm just curious how other simmers manage to play the sims whilst having a job? What's your typical day like?
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: $Subject: Teenager Missing on: 2005 October 12, 18:41:47
She's best friends with all her family, so never ran away. But when I was playing her boyfriends house I did get him to sneak out with her. I think that could have been the last time I saw her. Cry If I go download SimPe can someone help me get her back with it??
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: $Subject: Teenager Missing on: 2005 October 12, 00:31:15
I haven't got SimPe. I download hacks, etc, but I'm a bit intimidated by SimPe. And I won't touch Boolprop cheatsenabeld with a barge pole, that thing seems to be the only solution over at the BBS! Wink
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / $Subject: Teenager Missing on: 2005 October 12, 00:07:44
I clicked on a house I hadn't played for a while, the family in it are a mom, dad and 2 daughters(1 teen, 1 child). The eldest daughter is on the famliy picture on the info pop-up, but when I click for more info her thumbnail is missing. I entered the house, and she's missing. She's no longer in the family tree, all the photo's her mom took of her are still on the wall, but that's it.

I looked in the memories of her mom and dad and all the memories they have of her are 'Had $Subject' or 'Taught $Subject to study', etc and the picture of her is blank in these memories. I promptly left the house, without saving.

I've had this bug before with babies, but a baby is just a baby. She was my favourite teenager sim  I had a whole story around her, ( I know it's sad!).

I don't know whether this is relevant, but on the day I realised she'd gone missing as I started my computer, the computer said it needed to check the system (I've got XP) and it sorted out some files it said were corrupted.

I would like her back, but if not could someone please explain why this happens. It's so weird!
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Can't drop out of Uni on: 2005 September 12, 23:02:47
If I send a teenager to Uni and move them into an unoccupied dorm, when they get out of the taxi and transistion into a YA (I always turn off the cut scenes, too repetitive) the control panel never appears. I have to turn off my computer and re-enter the lot. Do you think this is how the problems with the portals start?
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Can't drop out of Uni on: 2005 September 12, 15:13:05
I get the YA to use the phone and 'drop out' of Uni (under the college section of the phone menu), the YA ages into an adult, but in the process kinda jumps back a little bit. Then nothing happens, no taxi and save/buy mode is greyed out.

I've got a similar problem with moving out after graduation, but have downloaded TwoJeffs fix for that so once I've chosen to 'move back to Pleasantview' the YA ages into adults and again jumps back a bit in the process. So I buy the hacked money plant and after I've 'reset controllers' and 're-enabled save/buy mode' I can select 'move back to Plesantview' as it's still an option on the phone. But with the dropping-out bug once you've dropped out there's no option to drop-out again, because they are of course adults. Any ideas???

Also, I used to be able, when in Plesantview, to get a best friend of the YA to propose to move in, but either the option doesn't appear or when it is and I select it they age into adults but aren't controllable (no thumbnail on the left side of the screen)

I never used to have this trouble, so can't figure why it's suddenly started.
