1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Chemistry set/ science reward request on: 2008 March 04, 10:39:26
Does anyone know if there is, or could someone make, an object something like the description below?

The Science career reward object builds logic and makes useless diseases and medicine that doesn't work. It would be much more useful if you could add the items from it to the inventory so you could sell them, and you could make the cures for the various creatures (vampire, werewolf, etc) sold by the hawkers, and the love potion, etc. It would also be nice if you could make potions that convert sims into the creatures, like the chemistry set in The Sims. In the theme of the chemistry set, it would also be nice if you could make poison, personality inverter, and needs max-out potion. I would like the cures to look like the cures you buy in the game, and it would be nice if the other ones looked like flasks of different-coloured solution like in The Sims. Sims with max logic should be able to choose which potion to make, but any sim below that should only have the option to make a random potion.

Thanks.
2  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Request: dates on: 2006 July 05, 14:28:26
Does anyone know if there is, or could someone please make, a hack that stops the 'invite on date' interaction being considered 'cheating' by sims involved in relationships with the participants? Whenever I make sims with the pleasure aspiration they always want to do this interaction, and they are constantly being punched by the person they are supposed to be in a relationship with, who wanders onto a community lot to find they have just gone out for a drink with their friend or done something perfectly innocent (there is nothing in the game that says the 'date' can't just be a social thing). If I wanted a whore, I'd've given them the romance aspiration. I still want the cheating memory for sims doing things that could actually be considered cheating (initiating romantic interactions with other sims), but not for the act of 'go on date' itself.
3  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: ... Isn't the damned patch supposed to FIX THINGS? on: 2006 March 23, 21:11:51
If you can't type in the cheat window, press ctrl shif c again. This is because you've clicked something on the screen.

If the window resizes, press the ` key beneath esc. This puts it back to the original size.
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Social Worker brainwashed the kids and fed them elixar! on: 2006 March 14, 11:42:15
I would like a hack so children would die when their hunger motive dropped to zero, and that having a bad school mark or no social motive would not trigger the social worker. I don't like the no social worker hacks, because it means children can't be got rid of through starvation.
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 13, 11:16:50
Is it all jerky, like it was done by a 2 years old boy?

No, it animates smoothly, but it seems to be attached to the sim's shoulders at the bottom and the top of the head at the root. It balloons out in a huge lump in the mid-region when the sim turns quickly. It would look better if it didn't animate at all.
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: JM - just for you - truly evil toys on: 2006 March 13, 11:07:59
Lego men are evil -- one of them bit me with his bottom when I was a kid.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 12, 09:27:24
The animations spoiled it for me. It just looks unrealistic, how it balloons up at the back.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / car hacks on: 2006 March 11, 20:39:39
Does anyone know if there's a hack to make buyable and usable the other cars in the game that aren't in the catalogue that comes with Nightlife, like the limousine and the little sports car the teenagers use to sneak out in?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: OFB sold items in Inventory? WHAT THE? on: 2006 March 11, 20:11:00
In that case, somewhere out there, a townie has about 30 puddles of vintage Brynne pee.

That's pretty funny. Now to go and see if I can make saleable that bag of dung you get as a reward for having a crap date, and then I can make a Poo and Wee shop.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: No restaurants/coffeeshops on residential lots on: 2006 March 11, 12:34:02
You have to start with a residential plot and use changelotzoning.

The two restaurant stands are a nuisance though. I tried to make a tacky fast food restaurant that only served burgers, sausages, ribs, and grilled cheese sandwiches, and the host ponced about kissing himself and hugging the customers. I got sick of the atmosphere in the place and deleted it. I think we need a kind of till that stands on a surface, and the person working the till points at a barstool, the customer sits on it, the till worker takes the order, and the chef dumps the food in front of them.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is a store.. you are a customer... BUY SOMETHING! on: 2006 March 11, 12:21:25
Feel free to make fun of me, or to offer helpful suggestions...  I'm running into major irkitude with my stores.  I've set buyable things as buyable.  I put one fun object on the lot so my employees can take a break and chill... and that object is the focal point for everyone who isn't ventrilo-farting each other.  >_<  Why won't they just buy something--after all, they came to the smegging store.  I don't go to the grocery store to prank strangers, I go there to buy food!

This is annoying. There seems to be a weird pattern of the customers I get in my shops. There's always 2-3 people who come there and loiter, never buying anything even when offered to have something shown, and either dance to the stereo or talk/ snog/ beat each other up (and there are a handful of sims in the neighbourhood who have descended into being enemies through no conscious action of my own, and I am sick to death of that 'poke' interaction and the other one where one sim punches another and stars appear around its head). Even when asked to leave, these people keep coming back, and the only way to get rid of them is to ban them. There is one particular sim in my neighbourhood who comes to a shop immediately when it is opened, and spends all the time beating up every other single sim that comes in. I'm sick of everyone being distracted by this sim flying about with someone else inside a cloud with expletives issuing from it. I banned the sim, and all the time the shop is open, this sim appears, enters via the door, approaches the counter, and is teleported away in an endless loop. I mean, it's not even realistic. You don't go into a shop and beat someone up or snog them, however you feel about them. You'd be arrested.

Oh yes, and get TwoJeff's no pranks hack. I hate these interactions, and uninstalled University for a long time because of them.
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / vampires in OFB and inability to murder NPCs on: 2006 March 11, 12:05:27
I have a problem using vampires in business. I had an elderly male vampire make a disco on the side of his house, but the sales interactions don't seem to work with him. When initiated, the vampire goes and stands by the person to make the sales interaction with, but as soon as they turn round, he makes a vampire noise with his arm over his mouth, and the command drops from the queue. I don't know if this is an issue with the game or a result of an an incompatibility with a hack.

Also, I locked all the obnoxious University NPCs in a room and tried to kill them, but they wouldn't die. I even put an oven with a burning tv dinner inside in the room, but it refused to catch fire.
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Evil toys on: 2006 March 11, 11:56:57
Evil toys are specifically marked by the game as "Evil", with names like "Evil Jack-in-the-Box". They are invariably painted in dark, sinister colors and perform harmful and sometimes even lethal effects on hapless children.

Naturally, I like them very much.

Do all the toys have evil counterparts? So far I've only discovered the octopus, the kite, and the jack in the box. I'd like to see an evil brick (hits sim over the head), an evil fire engine (child spontaneously combusts upon playing with it), and an evil version of those one-kid seesaws that makes the child who rides it vomit every time.
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 09, 15:23:34
I don't have ANY left. At one point it was patchy and looked even more ridiculous, but I didn't care. I am pretty ridiculous, after all. And the dumber they think you are, the funnier it is when you kill them.

You could try growing your facial hair long and combing that over your head.

I would like more short hair meshes. I don't know many adults with long hair.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: "boolprop" Phobia on: 2006 March 09, 14:11:17
The only problem I have with testingcheatsenabled is that if something causes an error, it can start generating an endless loop of error messages that won't go away, and the only way to stop them is to type 'boolprop testingcheatsenabled false' one character at a time, clicking on the error messages between characters.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Car dichotomy on: 2006 March 09, 14:04:59
In the buy catalogue on community areas, you can buy and place a table on which to stand cars to sell. (it's in surfaces under 'miscellaneous') However, cars are not purchaseable in community areas, and the table is not purchaseable in residential plots. This may just be me being obtuse, but it seems it's not possible to use this table without extensive use of the changelotzoning cheat.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis does it again! on: 2006 March 09, 14:01:41
Download on that site doesn't seem to work. Does look like an interesting hairstyle though -- does it animate properly?

Once again, Maxis has put images of hair in ingame shots that are missing from the game (there's one on a toddler on the back of the OFB box), and the woman on the front has the missing long version of the lawnmower job. This really irks me. I'm still waiting for that hairstyle that's on female children in pictures all over the base game.
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Holiday Addon pack announced on: 2005 October 12, 14:02:33
It doesnt sound like it will be just new items, but will also have new behaviors and interactions.

So more of the stupid Fart in Someone's Face and Fling Water At stupid interactions? No thank you. And it's pretty much guaranteed that it'll be riddled with bugs. It's just the kind of gimmicky thing they'd make in a hurry, with dollar signs in their eyes, and not bother to test.

It's impossible that they can give this stuff away for free -- in that case it'd be classed as a virus and they'd be sued. The only things I'd pay money for as add-ons are the missing clothing, hairstyles, and object colours that were seen in the preview shots for the original game.
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby unselectable, will not grow up :( on: 2005 October 12, 13:54:12
I have Uni and NL, I don't have the nobabyharrassment hack installed (although it's been driving me crazy not to have it) and I'm at a loss on how to fix this. Any ideas on how to make it so Opheila is not pregnant would be greatly appreciated Huh

OK, I've never seen this before. I currently have neither of the expansion packs installed so it may be a bug introduced in one of them. To see if it's a hack, turn the hacks off temporarily (or move them somewhere else) and load the house. You may be able to fix the family using SimPE. Try finding the baby's sim description and giving it a name and unchecking 'is pregnant' on Ophelia's. If this doesn't work, you might have to delete the baby. Also, I believe there are some hacks around that reenable build/buy that you could try.
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: More turn ons/offs on: 2005 October 11, 12:41:47
how about "Abducted Sims", "Chess Player", "Best-Selling Novel Writer", "Accomplished Pianst", "Summa Cum Laude Graduate" ... the list is endless.

Abduction, novelist, and graduate are all great ideas! As was the skin colour idea the first poster suggested. It might be rather difficult to work out a flag to say that someone has played a piano or a game of chess, though. As it is I never use the clothing options as turn ons or turn offs. I don't think there are really enough turnon/offs to add any significant dimension to the gameplay.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Sims are addicted to the poker table, much like the kicky bag!!!! on: 2005 October 11, 12:29:50
I'd rather they were addicted to objects than interactions! At least then I can simply not buy the addictive object, whereas with an interaction they are continuously farting/flinging water at one another/ trying to kick bags and moaning. However, xptl297 posted the following on Variousimmers. I have used it to make the bookcases nonautonomous and it works:

cloning for absolute illiterate

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a mini-tut (sort of) for the way I modified a bed to be children only. I have the "no kids in double-beds patch", but I don't have any "NoParents in the kids bed patch". So, my problem was solved this way.

1 - Open SimPe (supposed that you have everything installed and working properly)

2 - On the upper left corner you find a drop down menu (File, Extra, Plugins, Help). Choose Plugins.

3 - In the next drop down menu (installed Plugins) most will be greyed but at least five will be dark blue (Scan folders, Neighborhood Browser, Hash Generator, Objects Workshop, Photo Studio). Choose Objects Workshop. Please Wait ...

4 - The next dialog has three card folders (Object Listing, Grouped Objects, Load Object). The grouped Object is already selected.

5 - Let's look for the Craftmeister Pine Bed that will be my Children Only Bed. It is located in the Seating )group). Item 31 down the list.
You will see the thumbnail in the bottom corner of the dialog screen so you know it is the correct one. Select "clone" and accept all the clone setting.
They were chosen by people who know more than us. Click Start.

6 - Next dialog screen shows a lot of options that can be changed. Remember that we are illiterate. Accept everything. Click OK.

7 - Next dialog is about saving, where you should stablish where your package should be saved. By default the last folder you've been working will be chosen. So, if this folder was one of your neighborhood, too bad, but you can always browse to a new folder or even create one if you forgot to do it beforehand.

8 - OK, give a new name to your package (I named it CheapChildrenOnlyBed). Save it.

9 - By default SimPe will open your new package immediately, so a lot of work is saved.

10 - All the info about the components of your package will be displayed (Audio Reference, Behaviour Constant, Behaviour function, ...) classified as FileTypes.

11 - Down this window you have another card folder where four folders are to be chosen (General Overview, Packed File, Uncompressed Data, Plugin View). Choose Plugin view as active card folder. Forget all the others, remember we are still illiterate.

12 - Go up to the File Types and choose Pie Menu Functions. On the right side (Packed File) you will find the Type "untitled tree table. Pie Menu Fun...). Click on it.

13 - On the bottom of the card folder Plugin View you will see the item "interactions" referring to the commands related to the bed (sleep, make bed, jump on bed, relax, tuck in, etc). Some options are double and I suppose (nb I suppose) that one of them is for community lots (need confirmation). Choose Sleep to start with.

14- On the right side is the "settings" options where you see the field "Flags" to be crossed or uncrossed. I decided that this bed will be children only. So all is that to do is to uncross all the options for "Adults, elders and teens". Don't touch the others. I never uncross "Demo child" because I SUPPOSE it has something to do with the tutorial for TS2. The option "visitor has no effect in the present case but is useful when in double beds, when if you uncross it, no visitor can join your Sim for woohoo (need confirmation too).

15 - You have to do this flag uncrossing for all of the items in the field interaction. I suggest that the item 0x2 "make bed" is left alone, because then everybody else can make bed, not only the children. If you wish that children stop jumping on the bed, uncross this too.

16 - After done, go to the bottom of SimPe screen, right side, you find a push buttom "Commit File". Click on it. "Changes are committed". It means all your changes were accepted and accomplished.

17 - Go up to the main drop down menu (upper left) and choose "File - save".
You are not ready.

18 - Go down to "FileTypes" and choose Material Override. On the right side you will see many lines. Don't bother, highlight everything, right click (oops, I suppose right click. I'm left handed and for me is left-click, so you must know the right step)
You get a new drop down menu. Choose delete.
You will be scared with the dialog "Are you sure?". Say OK.
This step (deleting Material Override) will avoid that your clone provoke a lot of copies of itself inside the catalog.

19 - Again go to the bottom of SimPe and click "Commit File". Again go to the upper left drop down meny and do "File - Save". Now you are done.

20 - Close SimPe. Open Explorer and find your new file package. You will find two files there, one with extention .bak
Everytime you save a file in SimPe, a .bak file is created. At this point the file is unuseful, so delete it.
Transfer your new clone to your "Downloads" folder. I suggest you create a sub-folder "Testing" to make easy to find it again in case of any problem or future modifications (when we are no more so illiterate).

Now, when you play TS2, the bed "Craftmeister Pine Bed" will have an asterist like custom items and will be available only for children.
It was useful for me.
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Does anyone ever feel this way about some of the in-game faces? on: 2005 October 11, 12:17:35
I think all the base archetypes are ugly. The eyes are too far apart and all the women have enormous lips. I have annihilated the Townie menace using hacks. And as for the service NPCs, I suppose nannies and people who work tills in shops or kill vermin for a living are just genetically inferior proletarian labourers in the world of TS2, and the headmaster of the private school is understandably inbred.
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Baby unselectable, will not grow up :( on: 2005 October 08, 12:40:26
all that's needed to make that effect more obvious would be to have the sim take out a stick and poke the baby on the floor before running out of the room like a nut.

LOL. I agree that it's probably because the baby is asleep on the floor, but there's an easier way than forcing errors/ using radios. Just use move_objects on to manually dump the baby in the crib. Adults will then be able to retrieve it. I think the fact that it worked after quitting/ hack removal is just coincidence that it happenned to wake up. The grow up baby interaction is knackered anyway; you have to use cake and that doesn't work if the baby is unconscious on the floor either.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Maxis agrees with Laurenke on: 2005 September 15, 20:50:04
Last thing I read, you are supposed to be attractive to someone who is different to you but not too different. The current philosophy is that you choose someone whose sweat smells different to you but who has a symmetrical face shape of the same race as you. (people of very different races may have divergent genetics, in which some of the genes have translocated, and this can result in offspring that are retarded/ deficient as a result of chromosomes crossing over and genes being left out) If someone has an abnormally asymmetrical face it implies that they are a) deformed, and therefore may have faulty genetics or b) they have walked under a bus as a result of stupidity/ poor reflexes or that they start fights and then lose, in which case their genes are also likely to be undesirable. It might be a freak accident and not their fault, but evolution doesn't work like that.

I have never seen a human being with black skin and any eye colour other than brown. Hair, eye, and skin pigmentation are all a result of production of melanin. Melanin production can vary slightly between different parts of the same person, but large variances are improbable. Albino people cannot produce melanin and have blue eyes, white skin, and colourless hair that looks pale blond. People with white skin never have pure black hair (not the really black sort that has a bluish tinge to it like Asian hair). Only people with pale skin can have ginger or blond hair and blue eyes. Blue eyes in my experience are extremely rare as this is the result of having no eye pigmentation and is recessive to everything else. Grey eyes and what people describe as being green have varying amounts of melanin, followed by hazel and then brown, which is the full pigmentation.

The NPCs that the game creates are all minging (IMHO) because they mix up incompatible features and hence the black-skinned man with blue eyes and a blond mullet who loiters in a repulsive tracksuit outside the house, urinating on the topiary and eating out of the dustbin. Even the ones with plausible skin/hair/eye colours are ugly because the archetypes are all ugly and don't look like the races they're supposed to represent. I don't know why this is because the playable characters in the game aren't plagued by faces with the eyes too far apart like hammerhead sharks and huge lips like startled guppies (well, apart from Dina Caliente (or whatever her name is -- the one in the dress with blonde hair), whose face is the stuff of nightmares). I use Pescado's No Townie Regeneration hack with my own neighbourhood, and blitz the character files and neighbourhood entries with SimPE before making any characters in it.
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Rant: Hacks are ignored by Nightlife on: 2005 September 14, 18:14:58
I received Nightlife early (Play.com) and am glad it's not shite like University. There are several nice objects and walls/floors (and the Grilled Cheese aspiration rocks), although the lack of and quality of hairstyles still stink. None of my hacks work any more -- not they conflict with the game, the game just ignores them regardless of whether Custom Content is set to on or off. So I'm back to square one with sims autonomously reading books, molesting babies, and no manual navigation. The only things that seem to work are recolours of objects and Bodyshop edited stuff. I think this is really disrespectful of Maxis, after good people like Pescado and TwoJeffs have spent time making hacks to fix the issues that they are too stupid and lazy to fix, to make an ep that negates all the hacks and means they have to remake them. That's just obnoxious and rude.

Also, the cars seem to be bugged. I got Loki Beaker to take his kids bowling, and he got into the driving seat and one of the kids got into the passenger seat, and then he got out and locked it and waved at her. The car was unselectable until I exited to the neighbourhood and came back, and then I managed to get him and the other child into the car and to drive off. At the community area the first child was missing, and upon return to the house was not recovered. The child was still missing after exiting and reloading (the thumbnail was still there but right clicking on it produced no result, and commands to interact with other objects dropped from the queue). I can only assume that the child has ceased to exist as a physical object and is stuck in limbo, where she will presumably starve to death if I continue to play this house. Okay, maybe this is what happens if you try to get three people in a sports car, but then the game shouldn't let you put three people in a sports car.

The new expansion pack also introduces several bugs that University introduced. Having removed University as a result of being sick of the enormous bloated turd of a bug it was (if this had ended up on my computer without me paying for it, I would have called it a virus) and the way it clogged up want slots with useless influence wants and wishes to buy gadgets and musical instruments in order to incessantly busk in their own houses, this is annoying. The problem with random stuff being added to the wardrobe on age transition has been reintroduced and that loathsome Prank interaction which no hacks seemed to be able to fix is back.
