Minimizing to Desktop may be caused by AVG 9. If you recently updated, try to turn off Optimized Scanning. AVG is aware of the issue, but they haven't fixed it.
AH HA!!! I am indeed running AVG 9. and it is a real bitch to turn off. It keeps turning itself back on. I will try what you suggest. You guys are awesome. TY

Is CTD the same as MTD or minimize to desktop? After it MTD's I am still able to click on the application in the tray and continue playing. It is completely random but happens usually when I'm doing something in CAS. Started doing this after installing WA. I am not using AM at the moment but I am managing to play (except for MTD) with a few mods and converted CC. No chop or lag.

Before WA was released I was a little pissed that EA combined Tomb Raider and Indian Jones into one EP and wanted me to solve puzzles as a challenge. But I was intrigued by the idea of being able to visit other worlds or countries. I had made up my mind that I was going to buy the EP but I wasn't going to solve any puzzles or run into any mummies or other stupid stuff. Well, that all changed within the first 15 minutes of play. The scenery pulled me in first. Then there was the mystery of finding ancient coins of which you have to go into the tombs to get. At every dark turn or switch I was afraid a mummy was going to jump out and grab me. My sim had more courage than me. I managed to solve the puzzle and get out with my life. Cool! Very cool! I can't wait to travel to the other worlds next but my sim must wait and spend a few days at home first before going abroad again. I won't reveal any more about the game. I suggest to you, though, that it IS worth every penny.....

I've checked these mods and they all work fine:

These mods did NOT work in my game: cessil_BuyAllFish (this made it so none of the fish showed up in the grocery store) Chaavik-ChildrenCanPostTrollCheckForResponsesMoreFun Fruithack (this made it so none of the fruits & veggies showed up in the grocery store) gaininstantskills (this one locked up my game) JTP_childMirrorSpeech
I've got more in my file, but I can't test them out yet - will update when I can.
(Edited to add the non-working mods)
This is good. Thank you. You have most of the mods I use. You saved me a lot of time. Did you/could you test No Mosaic? I have it ingame now and it's working so far. Earlier I had said that it was not working for me but I want to confirm either way. Also Sims Cough Drop or "Nevercough" seems to be the one to make my sims "jump" when they drink nectar.

I think No Mosaic is the culprit, although I'm still testing - my sims do not drink nectar. They make nectar but when they sit down to drink, they "jump" back up and the glass is on the floor next to them. This is the only hack I have in my game because quite frankly it's one I have trouble playing without. I don't have any CC objects in game but I do have patterns, skins and some default replacements. I'm only able to reproduce this glitch "sometimes but not every time" when No Mosaic is present.

Awwww the heck with it!!! I can't just do nothing! I bought the frickin' EP already and I'm having withdrawal symptoms. I'm gonna take a leap of faith. I've learned lessons from other patches - take out the mods folder, put the original camera and skycommon folder back in, and back up everything I want to save. First I'll install the EP and see if it wants to patch on its' own. If all goes well, you won't hear from me again until the next EP comes out. If it's borked you won't hear from me then either bcuz I've pulled the trigger...........

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Deleting Objects In-Game
|

Have you tried to delete also thumbnail files? They're in Thumbnails/ folder.
Yes, Marhis, I tried this also but some objects were still there..........
Start / Run / cmd.exe cd /d "C:\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads" (or whereever you have your saved games) dir /ar-d /s /b
(list all files which are read-only and are not directories, traversing sub-directories, using full path names)
If there are too many for you to see, you can output the list to a text file: dir /ar-d /s /b >ReadOnly.txt
[Update:] Oops, I did it again. I have a tendency to answer the question asked, rather than trying to solve the actual problem.
To change all read-only files to read-write: Start / Run / cmd.exe / cd /d <your download directory> as above, then: attrib -r *.package /s
(clear the read-only attribute from all package files in this directory and all subdirectories).
Ummmm.....errrr.......duh....... I didn't quite understand your method, Mootilda, but I know what you mean.... So I went to my downloads folder, right clicked, opened "properties" and unticked "read-only", then apply. It then asked me if I wanted to apply this to all sub-folders within this folder and said yes. It took about a minutes to run through. Correct me if I just screwed my game up but now all files within the Downloads folder should be read-only, right???

I spent over 3 hours going through all my objects - deleting what I don't use, no longer want because it's obsolete, looks crappy in-game. etc., etc. But when I started my game back up again later on, all those objects are right back in there! What's up with that? ? I'm sure that I clicked yes when it asked me was I sure I wanted to permanently delete. And yes I saved before I quit.....

I had this problem also. When I went looking for the CEP, I found I actually had two of them. An old one and a new one. I see that it has been updated again so I'll be sure to take the old one out for sure.......

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Maxis Collection Files

Is it safe to delete the Maxis pre-made collection files? I don't use them. I use the ones I have made with custom content. I have so many it's taking a long time for them to load. So I was just wondering before I delete the Maxis ones in one fell swoop.....

Thanks, Jenny. I couldn't remember the name of the hack nor who made it. I think you're right and this will solve the sectional problem. As for the other, I almost don't really care. It's not a sofa that I would use anyway. It's Maxis fugly. I'm not gonna worry about it unless somebody clones it and I just gotta have the cloned object. Thanks again.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Plumper Thumper Sofa in AL
|

I sure hope this problem hasn't been addressed already. If it has, please kindly forgive me and direct me to the proper thread. In my game with hacks and custom objects, the modular sofa called The Plumper Thumper from Smitty Classy ( 288 simoleans) does not "modulate" or connect to itself like the counters. It just sits there all by itself one by one. I also noticed that the other sofa called Smitty Classy's Lofty Softy ( 505 simoleans) doesn't show up at all in the object catalogue. In my game sans hacks and custom objects, these two sofas show up and work perfectly. Which hack could be causing this problem? Yes, I know, I could take out the hacks and mods one by one, start the game, and check it out but what can I say....... ? I like to pay tribute to the experts by playing the dummy role every now and then. Please help.
