1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Packaged Lot Files. Are any of them safe? on: 2014 February 14, 09:16:40
While doing some research yesterday, I ran across a site (SimsWiki) saying that ANY previously occupied lot, whether empty or not while packaging, was unsafe to package for installation later.  Is this true?  Could I get some clarification/explanation, please?
2  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Pleasantview disappeared, and will not return. on: 2009 August 06, 02:46:34
I went to look in the N001 folder, in my documents, and sure enough there was another N001 folder in there rather than the files that were supposed to be there.  I feel very foolish.  Once I fixed it, it's all sorted out.  Thanks for the help.   Embarrassed
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Pleasantview disappeared, and will not return. on: 2009 August 04, 16:39:58
I have tried fixing the N001 folder, in my program files, by using my backup, as well as using a downloaded backup from here.  Am I missing a step somewhere?
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Pleasantview disappeared, and will not return. on: 2009 August 04, 08:37:15
No, it didn't.  I was surprised, and that's why I'm here. Sad

I have tried everything I can think of, and have tried replacing the N001 file with my backup, as well as one I got from a thread here.  I have tried deleting the neighborhood file, in my documents, and even tried deleting the entire Sims2 directory.  Is there another option?
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. (Specs & Time updated) on: 2009 July 13, 18:39:43
Thank you, for all the help.  I've given up and am asking my computer tech type person to take a look at my machine.  I've ordered another gig of RAM and will be adding that when it arrives.  At this point, my load time is down to under 20 minutes, but I have the bare minimum installed.  It's just not as fun without all that really neat-o stuff.
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. (Specs & Time updated) on: 2009 July 11, 08:08:30
I am running XP, and have a mostly clean game.  I deleted all my old hoods, families, etc. when I updated my expansion packs.  I have less than 200 cc files.  I have nearly 20 gigs of space on my hard drive that is free space.  I have 1 single person household, at this point.  So, help?
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. (Specs & Time updated) on: 2009 July 10, 01:13:42
Seriously?!  2.7GB of RAM is not enough?  Would another 1GB do it, or do I need even more than that?
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. on: 2009 July 10, 00:39:34
Ok, so after adding in a few of Bruno's makeup items, and clothes, as well as a couple of objects from Paladin's place, ,I'm up to 30 minutes of load time.  Is this normal?  Should I just accept that this is how things are going to go with the addition of AL and FT??  I've not put in any hair, clothing, or furniture items yet...

Edit to add:

Ok, I'm up over an hour of load time, waiting to get into the first house.  Truly, if this has been discussed elsewhere, please direct me to those threads.  I am spoiled, and playing without custom content is not as fun for me.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. on: 2009 July 09, 20:57:31
My system specs are:

XP (Media Center Edition)
2.80GHz Pentium CPU
2.79 GB of RAM

I don't know about my video card, but I've been running up to Seasons for months (years?) with no issues.  My husband seems to think the video is alright.

I spent some time cleaning up, defragmenting, and just generally cleaning up the hard drive last night.  As well as adding an external drive to my system, in order to free up some more space.  I've not added anything back into the game yet, other than my default replacements, better names doo-dad, smaller vamp fangs, and invisible vamp skin.  I'm planning to get a few things from one of my favorite sites this afternoon and test it out again.  I will report back then.  Thank you for your replies.
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hours of load time. on: 2009 July 09, 02:20:10
Before I added Apartment Life, it was much slower.  I admit that.  Right now, I have NO custom content at all.  I took everything out, in order to get the game to load (less than 10 minutes).  I added back, only the hair files I had, and it took nearly 2 hours for the game to load.  Is this normal?
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Hours of load time. (Specs & Time updated) on: 2009 July 09, 01:50:36
I recently added Free Time and Apartment Life to my library of Sims crap, and now I can not add any custom content without adding hours of load time to my game.  I tried looking for answers, and surfing for this topic already, with no success.  Can anyone please help?  Even just a link to a place this has already been covered would be appreciated.

What does out of order crappy stuffpacks mean?  Do I have them installed improperly?  Seems much happier now that I have the updated comm-skilling.  Thanks for the help.  I'll be giving it another test this afternoon.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bad Gosub Tree (I have searched.) on: 2008 October 20, 18:47:22
New Error log, hopefully.  Please feel free to whip me, if I've messed up again.  I like it.
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bad Gosub Tree (I have searched.) on: 2008 October 20, 16:59:05
No, I'm not.  I try, but what little I know, I've learned by lurking here, and although I can normally work out what's wrong with my game, I'm not really very good at anything too technical.

Would it be safe to delete everything in my error log file right now, so I have all new when I start up my game?  Or would that be a big NO-NO?
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Bad Gosub Tree (I have searched.) on: 2008 October 20, 03:32:40
Craaaaap.  I'm really not good at this.  I'm going to be happy with the way it is right now, and post a log (in this thread) the next time it comes up.

Thank you so much for your help.  I really really appreciate it.

Thank you, or is that Baaaahh!?

I try to search, and be careful, but ever now and then something sneaks in.

I'm also getting, though not nearly as frequently, a Bad gosub tree number #177, and it says something about Skill tracker...

Any ideas?  I can provide a log for this too, if necessary.
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Bad Gosub Tree (I have searched.) on: 2008 October 19, 04:36:22
I don't think I'm good at searching the forum, and I'll admit to sucking at searching with google.

2 days ago, I uninstalled, and re-installed my Sims.  I have Eps through Seasons, with Kitchen and Bath, Glamour Life, and Family Fun stuff packs.

I'm playing in Strangetown, with the only CAS sim, in my entire game.  She and her husband can not interact without a "bad gosub tree" error.

I've tried sorting through what few hacks I have, but can not track the source to this down.  Please help?

I've attached an error log, and can also provide a list of hacks I'm using, if needed.

*mashes thanks button repeatedly, and enjoys BAaaaaa! over and over*

Thank you SO much!  I was beginning to think I was the only one who experienced this.  I was really irritated, because I lost a really neat sim... Sad

Thanks again!  MATY is the only place I go for help. Smiley
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Save, Back to Neighborhood, and Exit disabled in University. Help? (edited) on: 2008 July 09, 03:26:08
I've only come across this 2 times, and did not ask about about it.  I was sure I knew the cause the first time, turns out, I didn't.

While in University, I stopped to save my game, and the Save, Neighborhood, and Exit icons were all disabled, as the build options are disabled in normal University play.  Is this common?  As I mentioned, I've only had it happen a couple of times, but it is a huge hassle.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

ETA:  Has this been gone over somewhere else, and I've missed it?  Are there shortcut keys to exit or save a particular lot?  I really would like some help with this, even if it's just someone saying they've had this issue before, or never heard of it before.

The first time it happened to me when I tried to turn build tools on, in a dorm.  I have since enabled build tools with no problem, but this most recent occasion I did not.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) on: 2008 July 08, 03:35:25
Thank you!  I knew it was simple, but I just couldn't find it.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Sims in Windows (I searched! I swear!) SOLVED on: 2008 July 08, 03:13:15
I looked, and tried to find where it shows how to make Sims run in Windows mode, but I fail at searching.  Here, any other forum, google.  I just suck at it.  Please help?
24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there a way to change a Sim's displayed skintone without SimPE? on: 2007 November 09, 18:23:54
Please type slowly, I'm new and don't understand.

If I remove all custom skintones, and re-start my game, All Sims with custom skintones will revert back to default skintones, thus borking the sim's DNA and all DNA of offspring? Does this apply to default eye colors as well?

Would it be easier to clone the sim in question, put new skin on in CAS mode, and use the boolprop tool to bring back her/his skills, interests, etc?

I'd like to change a few Sim skintones, but most of them are default Maxis sims. I don't know if it's worth the effort.  Wouldn't it just be easier to replace these sims?

I bow down before the awesome.  You are fabulous!  Thanks for the help! Kiss
