TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My Sim's Butler *served* TV dinners for dinner...

I've experienced this as well. It seems that all of the butlers have low cooking skill points. The nanny serves better dishes! I've gotten lobster thermodor out of her.
I don't know how to increase his points, but it would be great if we could.
ETA: I tried tipping the butler and it worked. He had served cereal and then, after tipping $100, he served omelets.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pet "Joining Household" Does't Fulfill "Get a Pet" Want

I've seen "adopt a puppy", "adopt a kitten", and "adopt a puppy or kitten" wants all at the same time. They adopt a puppy so that one is satisfied, but they still have the "adopt a kitten" want. "Adopt a puppy" hasn't rolled up again, though.
It bugs me too, that by adding a CAS pet these wants aren't satisfied.

Some research is currently being conducted comparing the relative merits of chain-watering vs. talk to, as I have the suspicious feeling that Talking To is actually slower than drowning-for-health.
Just wondering if any results have been found... talking to vs. chain-watering -which is faster and/ or more effective?

I'm not sure what makes the warm up option show up. The first time the roommate sim just did it on his own. I didn't even know to look for this option so I was really surprised to see him pull the hair dryer out (of his back pocket haha). So the 2nd time she froze -once the roommate got home from work I checked and it was there. These two are only roommates - just friends -no romance or anything. They do not have a lot of history together either. So I would think that family should have it, but I have not checked that.

To test this... I forced a Sim to stay outside so she'd freeze. It took awhile, but then she did take a big hit on motives when she first froze. Afterward her motives continued to decrease slowly. Her roommate warmed her up using a hair dryer so I did it again and when her motives were low enough she got up then died from hunger.
So in my experience frozen sims will eventually die - from hunger - if left to do so, but it'll take awhile and it is possible to direct another sim to warm them up.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: BETTING POOL: Rainbow vs. Venusy!

I'll bet August when he goes on vacation -not sure of the dates. She'll be waiting in the wings to take her place on the top of the I've been logged in the longest list -hooray. Until then I think Venusy will work harder to defend his position now that a bet has been placed.
Now don't forget about BlueSoup taking the 3rd spot over Brynne. I'll bet by July 1st on that one since Brynne is 'done' until El Faloro is gone.

A low carbohydrate diet is helpful with a lot of things. A nice side benefit to it is if you decrease your carbs and increase your physical activity a little you will also probably start to lose some weight. That being said, if you start a low carb diet you should also research it a bit before you start. People who have fibromyalgia also benefit greatly from a low carb intake.
But Jack says that.. "Bread is back!" damnit!

Edit: I didn't have the problem in a different house. I guess the 1st house had overly attentive adults. Thanks jsalemi for the idea, although I don't currently use JM's baby controller so I can't verify if there is a conflict. It doesn't seem to be an issue with the actual object -just an issue with the parents in that particular house. Do you have JM's 'nobabyharrassment' hack installed? It does a pretty good job of stopping that kind of parental unit behaviour. I do not, but that is a good idea! Thanks again -I'll go get it. I know JM has a bunch of good ones that I haven't gotten around to taking advantage of. Unfortunately, I don't get the chance to play as much as I want to. I have a 3yr old which is funny to me because the toddler stage of the game is my least favorite. I wonder why? ha ha

I haven't seen the pig, but I haven't really looked either. Anyway, the idea of the next expansion being farming/pets sounds reasonable. Since Maxis didn't hint as to what the next exp. is... which makes me think (like someone has said before) that saying it was going to be pets might possibly take away from OFB and the family pack, etc. I did not like all the strays either, but I remember finding a hacked sign you could put in your yard that would keep them away. Someone also made a litter box hack where your pet would go in it on their own when their needs were low and it would refresh everything.
I guess we'll find out... someday.

I have a problem with this object. My toddler goes to sleep on it, but all the adults in the house still try to pick him/her up to put them in the crib. I've even had an adult get 'stuck' and the action wouldn't cancel and another adult woke the toddler up to take them to the crib. I am NOT trying to complain about this here as this is not a MATY object, but I wanted to mention it just in case the problem comes up in someone else's game. I'm going to try Inge's hacks. Thanks Regina for mentioning them. Edit: I didn't have the problem in a different house. I guess the 1st house had overly attentive adults. Well, I tried this with another sim that was pregnant before I installed OFB. I did not have her eat cheesecake or force anything and she had a single birth (a boy). I quit without saving. Then went back to her -she was about 45 hrs pregnant and I had her eat cheesecake. She gave birth to twins (a girl and a boy). I do not have twojeffs fix -yet. I posted before about checking the pregnancy with InSim, but didn't think about the fact that it's not updated for OFB so it doesn't recognize the change from a single birth to twins. So with FatedCircle's tests and my own -I'm convinced.

I had a sim who had 3 hrs of pregnancy left with a single baby (this was according to InSim which has a "pregnancy stats" option). I do not have twojeffs hack. I had her make and eat cheesecake. She had about 1-2 hrs left of pregnancy and I did not check InSim again. She gave birth to twins. I did nothing else to try for twins.
I have another prego sim so I will check this again as ness suggested.

don seems to enjoy eating crap off food. unfortunately he ahs never got food poisoning in my game if he had i would just let him die a noisy and uncomfortable death, i can't stand him
Ha ha!! That's funny! I'm not a big fan of his either -although I dislike Daniel Pleasant even more. Edit: I don't have many sims that eat out of the trash so I haven't seen the results of doing this often. Can sims get sick this way?

That's interesting about the face paint. I didn't think about that, but I'm very glad to know the trick! The celebs still could be a cool addition to the game in certain aspects -like stories- I guess.
I, too, remember the Drew Carrey sim from Sims 1 Superstar (I believe). He did show up a couple of times in my game at the best parties!

I've only noticed the face. The makeup looks ridiculous -like it's all over their face and their features look strange.
I have only had a playable sim give makeovers so I know that something is wrong when the game doesn't pull up the window to allow me to choose the makeup and hair. I don't know what happens when it's a non-playable sim giving the makeover.

I'm pretty sure most people, though, will stop eating something that makes them gag.
Does this include burnt food? It's so silly when they sit there eating burnt food, gag, then start eating again and talking like nothing is wrong. I realize it won't make them sick, but damn, I'd rather starve.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: This is a store.. you are a customer... BUY SOMETHING!
|
on: 2006 March 10, 19:17:13

I started a home business to test things out and spent time setting up the store, but with even one fun object in the house I couldn't get the customers to buy anything. One of the sims finally got the gold sales badge so when she dazzles someone they sometimes buy, but not always. So I gave in and just added a bunch of fun objects and charged customers and now the business has a really high rank and is very profitable. The average price to enter is $99. I changed it to expensive and everyone pays.
I had a free buffet table, but got rid of that and tried charging them for food. No one will buy food ever no matter what I do -even with ridicously cheap prices. It's interesting to see what works and what doesn't.
I also have sims show up that annoy others so I ask them to leave.

I get them back in the chair, apply full face makeup, remove it, then give them a proper makeover. I've read that if they are selectable you can also click on a mirror and "change appearance". Usually the sims in my game aren't selectable so I offer them a free makeover to get them back in the chair.
Hope that works for you!

Target for the win -- $29.99 plus purchasing it nets you a $5 gift card. Of course, I probably won't be installing it for a while, since I'd prefer to let other, less patient people find the bugs.
I just bought mine today at Target. It's a sweet deal! I didn't even think about them having it.
