Upgrading the CPU isn't really that big of a deal. Just find out what socket it uses and get a replacement for that socket type. With installing it you have to be a bit careful, but if you buy at a local shop you might even get a good deal on installing it, too.

Also, I've seen the Pescado speak of a RAM Disk for improving performance and was wondering what one would recommend for getting one of those?
On a laptop? Good luck with this. On a desktop? Not normally. For one thing you need a good motherboard to handle this much ram (Sims 3 is like almost 20GB now, that makes at least 24+GB RAM). Plus it costs quite a decent amount of money which might be better spend on a SSD drive (which are not as fast, but seriously fast nevertheless). I see how it makes sense for him, seeing as when he debugs his Mod he has to launch and relaunch it thousands of times and ten seconds more or less of loading time each launch can make a difference, but for the common folks I don't really see much of a point in spending the extra bucks. |

My external hard drives specifically say not to run programs off of it (in the manual), so make sure you check that out first.
That's what you get for reading the manual: being treaded like a dumbass. Unless you unplug it while using it, it's perfectly fine to run anything off it. |

I've been searching all day and still can't find an answer, so here goes: The version of AM I was using expired and I'm not sure which one to install, my game version is: 4 0 87. The version I was using would throw out a non-critical core mismatch warning at me but it worked fine with no problems. I've downloaded allversions of AM but no sure which to use or if I have to wait for a compatible version. **hope someone answer soon I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms**

About the expiry date: Once the last EP/SP has been released and every bugfix and improvement possible has been implemented, would you release a final version without the expiry date?
AFAIK it's more of an "get an update" reminder if anything. Just turning back the clock should allow you to run it if it has expired. There's probably even software around this, so even if he stopped right now you'd find a way to run it anyway. |

My old save games work fine, but I get a CTD every time I try to start a game in Bridgeport. The neighborhood loads, I can create a sim, move in a sim, what have you. But when I go to play the family, it crashes.
I loaded a saved game in Bridgeport and it played fine (only tested it for like 2 minutes mind you). Did you update AM to test or remove it? |

The full patch for base game is about 424 MB. They're nice for when you reinstall, so you don't have to install dozens of incremental patches.
The EP DVDs contain full patches up to the patch level at release. When I reinstalled last week or so, I just went throught that and then used the Patch Downloader to get only around 200MB of incremental patches. Works better than downloading a gigabyte or so of full patches. |

About the "full" patch - I was afraid it would come to that - different EPs - different region numbers. Which region number full patch to use?
How about the one for which you have the game for? It's not rocket science. Full patches are also only applied to one game (ie base or one of the EPs), so get the correct version for the one you want to patch. |

Gosh you are HI-larious. Look, if you like Awesomemod, then man up and help pay for the servar. Otherwise, it will either go to a crappier servar, where you won't be able to get instant and consistent access, or it will disappear altogether.
You don't HAVE to donate, sure, but conversely, Pescado doesn't HAVE to provide the awesome services.
Obviously I'm not suggesting not donating, I was just wondering why he asked if he could pay in pesos citing where it said that you get a special premium edition. Awesome-mod surely is awesome and Pescado deserves to be at least be payed enough to pay for his servers if not more to compensate him at least partly for the time and money invested in this community and modding. I'm certainly going to donate myself once I get some more money together (as a high school student I obviously don't earn much). I'd rather give it to somebody like him than those guys at EA who fuck up every other patch and can't get their act together with almost every game they touch. |

Yes, not having a day to spare of pressing "ok" and "download" every XXX-seconds sure makes me a sphesul snowflake. Anyway I'll be creating a fuck tard enabler torrent file when I get the hold of every package.

The HELS incremental patch failed to update S3Launcher.exe on both of my comps, and I know I didn't mess with that file. I figured I'd try the full update before reinstalling, and it worked perfectly.
Same here. Incremental failed on the Launcher Exe (which actually was not in the directory for whatever reason). Restoring it didn't do it ("Invalid File"), so full patch it was. Worked like a charm. |

No one is saying efficiency is a bad thing. What people are saying is that we don't particularly feel like doing all the work for your lazy ass so you won't have to. Except for Patrick, of course, who feels that enabling fucktards is a noble endeavor.
I sincerely apologize then. I'll try to be less helpful and more trolling in the future then. Yeah, one might have found out about tools like this if one would have searched google quite quickly, but it didn't think it was TOO obvious not to post, especially since a lot of people apparently don't know about it. However, I get your point. One page further down the line in this thread somebody will ask for it again, because he's too lazy to find the info himself. |
