After a handful of days, Sims suffering from the Negative Mood effect tend to be quite unhappy, no matter their surroundings, and as a simple test, saving and exiting to the main menu, then loading back into the game, cures them as soon as game-time resumes.

I haven't noticed anything with room scores - the moods are especially dismal when my Sims are at work or school.  Exiting and reloading fixes the problem, but even with the highest-rated beds, and waking my Sims before they get the 'well-rested' moodlet, their moods start to plummet again.  The problem gets worse the longer I play without exiting, so whatever is going on, it's cumulative.

Mod conflict is usually a safe bet. Or more likely, just an outdated one since you mentioned you patched the game. Make sure all your mods are compatible with the latest patch, or go through them one at a time until you find the one causing the problem.

I had the same problem with a toddler, and I haven't done any borking around with ages.  I tried to age her with the birthday cake, and she got stuck in 'have birthday'.  I eventually had to reset her, and although her picture showed a child, she remained a toddler.  She finally aged on her own the next day (she should have aged on the day I tried to age her).

All I've got is Awesomemod, a hack that stops Sims from making those annoying choking sounds when they eat and a bunch of clothes, hairs and furniture.  I just installed WA, Ambitions and LN and my game is fully patched, caches cleared, new town (Riverview) started after installing the EPs.  I aged the same Sim to teenage with the birthday cake, and had no problems.  Something is up - it sort of reminded me of the Sims2 problem wherein a baby wouldn't age if anything happened during the aging process.

I was having CTD's and error 12's and 13's recently. I tried a clean game with no relief. I finally tried the CFF explorer fix and haven't had a crash since. I'm running windoze 7 pro 64 bit.

I've got 32 bit Vista with 3 GB RAM, and I *think* this fix is primarily for 64-bit?  However, there's an old MS hotfix for virtual graphics mapping via that link.  There's also an update for my graphics card that I should install first.  Plus, it looks like there's a new update version & Awesomemod.  I guess we'll see if something helps?  It's one of those unrepeatable errors (I hate those - I report software bugs at work, and anything I can't repeat makes me crazy - I *know* it's borked, but I can't prove it), so the only way to know it's fixed is if it doesn't happen.

So the game crashes over and over, and Event Viewer gives me this nice message that:

Currentgame.sims3\traveldb.package in the hash map cannot be updated properly because a "device attached to the system is not functioning".

I've got the same error since patching to 1.12, latest Awesome mod installed.  I played the game yesterday for several hours without any crashes.  Today, I'm getting a crash at the exact same spot - around 9 o'clock at night, one Sim is chatting on the computer, the other is searching the galaxy with the telescope.  Does anyone know what the traveldb.package does?

Modifying to add:  it's not the telescope.  I deleted everything in my CurrentGame.sims3 folder and had the other Sim quit the computer.  It broke, and while the repairman was working on it, the game crashed again.
