Isn't disagreeing with how MaxisEA coded the game at least half of what modding is all about? Sure some if it is bugfixes, but the rest is changing the game to suit our personal preference as to what would make it "better".
Whether I agree with amjoie's specific complaint, or not, how is it different from complaining that they can't have triplets or quads? How is it different from complaining that the nannies are stupid? How is it different from complaining that employees at businesses don't behave right? How is it different from complaining that the skins aren't realistic? How is it different from every other complaint I see on this site?
I may be wrong here, but judging from Ellatrue's post and the part of amjoie's post that Ellatrue quoted, I think her problem was more the implication that there's something wrong with people that like the deaths in the game: Not all of the MaxisEA target audience is +/- twenty-something looking for any kind of excitement to validate their existence. Not all of us think death is a kick
As well as the implication that people who enjoy the deaths in the game haven't encountered much suffering in real life, that was what bugged me about amjoie's post, and I thought that was what Ellatrue was trying to say. I've hardly had any accidental deaths in my game, the only ones I have had happened when I stupidly left a friend playing the game while I made coffee. So I just exited without saving.

I think it was Laeshanin said that Charles Wossname who played Lister was last seen playing a seedy taxi driver, on TV I think. So sad, he was cute as a button.
He plays Lloyd in Coronation Street, though his character has disappeared for a while as Craig Charles was suspended for drug use. I don't watch it, but as I was reading this I opened the newspaper and there was a photo of him back at work on the third page.

Don't know how many series there were in all, but after the cast changed and a woman replaced Rimmer, the series never seemed to jell again. Their timing was off somehow.
There were eight series in all, the first six were great, the last two, not so much. I don't think it was wholly to do with the cast change (Kris didn't really replace Rimmer, he was still in four episodes of series seven and all of series eight), though I was never impressed with Chloe Annett. I think the break up of the writers had more to do with it, Paul Alexander just wasn't a good enough replacement for Rob Grant.

I qualified the Englishman bit, I said he was a PURITANICAL Englishman, and actually, in behaviour he's not puritanical, just in the way he speaks.
Er... I know you did, my point was that I didn't see what the fact he was an Englishman and you're Latin American had to do with it. I guess I just would have said 'my husband is puritanical in the way he speaks, while I'm passionate'. Saying it like that does imply that his being English is part of the reason, even if you didn't mean it to sound like that. My misunderstanding, sorry.

(because he's a puritanical Englishman, whereas I am a passionate Latin American)
I have never heard an Englishman call it 'making love' except on TV, I'd imagine him calling it that has more to do with the puritanical bit rather than the being an Englishman bit. Every Englishman I've ever heard mention sex, even about their significant other has called it shagging, fucking, banging or some other unromantic term. If a man suggested we make love I'd run a mile. Edited to add: Well, OK, I might not run away, it would depend on the man making the suggestion, because I'm shallow and if he was hot he could say anything at all to get me into bed and I wouldn't care. So I'm either desperate because of my recent dry spell, or I'm just a slut.

And yet the whole phenomena of slash fiction exists? I've known a few slash writers in my time - some of them good - and they are definitely fixated by male on male porn. Have to say it does very little for me but then porn is just meh... whatever floats your boat says I.
I do enjoy slash (well I say I enjoy slash, in truth I probably enjoyed about 0.5 percent of all the slash I've ever read. That's a quality issue though, since most of it is appalling, and I don't even go to ff.net) and so do most of my female friends. It doesn't affect my enjoyment knowing I can't take part, I just like to imagine attractive men. My main problem with porn, either gay or straight is that everyone looks like they're having an awful time. I've never seen porn with people who look like they enjoy what they're doing. Maybe it's not my main problem with porn, maybe it's that it's filled with people even less attractive than people I've slept with, crappy dialogue, shitty camera work, handlebar moustaches... Yeah, OK, my main problem with porn is that it's just plain bad.
