1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Neighbourhood won't install on: 2011 July 02, 23:10:53
trying to install this: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=403522
got the .sims3pack ok, run launcher and click install, does nothing.
go to 3 viewer to install, says it cant be installed properly but any files that can be will be. but that doesn't work either.
In the launcher it says i don't have the base game, outdoor living, late night or generations. I have them all and they all play fine so I don't know what that's about. Thought the problem might be the version I was running which is 1.21.123, tried to update to 1.22 but that didn't work, so I gave up.
In the launcher it also have a yellow triangle thing with ! in the status column saying that it requires EP or SP that I don't have. But like I said, I have them all, so that's rubbish. Some lots and stuff weren't installing this morning but I got around the by using 3 viewer and they went in no problem.

I have no idea why it's not installing, and if I don't get an answer/work it out tonight I'm just gonna give up on it because it's driving me fucking insane.
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 10, 22:26:39
Ahh, never mind I've got it now. Just had to wait 'till 9AM.
Odd, I thought there would have been a faded out option for it or something.

Ah well, at least it's an actual feature and I'm not just going crazy.
3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions: What's borked on: 2010 June 10, 22:20:05
Did clicking on the Town Hall use to give you the option to change the name of your sim?

I can't remember if this was an actual feature or one I just made up, but it's not available now ..

Are you using Windows Seven x64?
I think I read somewhere that for the latest patch and OS Windows Seven 64-bit mods should go in my documents. At least, that's how I've done it and it's working.

Think I found it from here http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Post_Patch_1.12/2.7/3.3
5  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 07, 10:40:44
"GameVersion = 1.0.632.00002

If that's really your game version, then that's the immediate problem to solve. Post-installation should be 631, and you can patch up directly from there. There is a very, very old 631 --> 632 patch, but it's a dead end. Using it completely fucks up the patch sequence.

Well it updated from that right after installation.
I've fixed it now though, just reinstalled and changed from UK to USA. Everything works perfectly now, ambitions installed and awesome mod running on it.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 1.2.7/2.7.7/3.3.11 TEST THREAD on: 2010 June 07, 10:30:51
With the school. I ran ambitions without awesomemod, and it was working fine.
Then installed the mod and it's a park, like others have said.
Also, I tried to create my own school lot, but neither school building would place, whereas all other community buildings placed fine (except the science dome, but that might have been 'cause the lot was too small, even though it was the biggest lot size ... )

Anyway, don't know if that information is useful to anyone, but there you go.

Also, has anyone had any problems with the home/end buttons playing up and just making it go down a floor (instead of showing different amounts of wall)? It did it for a bit on mine, with awesomemod installed, and then just fixed itself after a while.
7  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 June 03, 16:44:41
Nope, it was 1.2.7. Except I've reinstalled and now it won't update to any patch.
I've just given up on it.

EDIT:
Fixed it now. I reinstalled for the fifth time, the only thing I changed was setting it to USA rather than UK. Works perfectly. Patched upto 1.12.7 and then installed both WA and Ambitions. And awesomemod is running beautifully.
8  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 June 02, 22:17:33
And here I thought you were too smart for patchfail, since that's fucking BASIC, man. Huh.
Sorry  Embarrassed
I can't even get the patches to install now, stupid game.
9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 02, 12:45:09
Are you using a pirated version with a no CD .exe?  if so, that is your problem.
Yup, but I've just reinstalled, and haven't put the no cd file in yet, and it's still not working

Have you tampered with the original executable?
Not that I'm aware of, but I've reinstalled, so that shouldn't be a problem anyway, right?
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 02, 11:47:35
try to reinstall from 0 after removing every file from directory...

Yup, I've reinstalled the whole thing, same problem

You could always install EADM and let the launcher do its thing, then uninstall and purge your system. It worked for me when individual patch installers wouldn't, and I'm still spyware free.

Tried that, it didn't work, it still found invalid files  Sad
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 02, 09:52:46
It's one of several things, and it's hard to tell which, because the "You have a dodgy file" error message can mean many different things.

1. Check that the patch you have downloaded is the right one. Check both the version number and the region number, both on the patch file itself and in skuversion.txt, which is found in Game/Bin/. (The region number is several zeroes plus a number 1-5. For my installation it's "00002" which I think is the US installation.)

2. If both those match and it still doesn't work, check the log Anach mentions. It will tell you exactly which file it's complaining about, and you will probably be able to pull that particular file directly from the CD and replace the borked one and get it to work. (If the file it's complaining about is something like the helpfiles, it's very likely to be a region mismatch.)

3. Failing either of these, if you can't make the patches work yourself you can try updating through the launcher, as it will sort out any version or region mismatch errors for you.

Okay, so I completely reinstalled the game, that went fine.
Then I updated to 1.0.631.00002 fine. I then went into the game launcher and tried to update from that to 1.12.7, it got to about 90-95% then got an "Update error: invalid file found"
Then I tried to update from 1.0.631.00002 to 1.2.7.0002 and that found an invalid file too.
So I checked the log, and it said there was a problem with the sku file. So I checked that:

"GameVersion = 1.0.632.00002
Code:0.DL-0.0.11195
Asset:1.Content.Devtest.1397
Thumbnails:1.Thumbnail.dl.933
TCC:1.TCC.dl.1209
CiderVersion#002432"  Which is what I thought it was supposed to say. game version is 00002 and I'm using the 00002 patches, unless there's another problem with the file?
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 01, 22:03:41
Or do it the long way and install all the patches in order.
Same error message comes up.
13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Trouble updating from 1.2.7 on: 2010 June 01, 16:09:09
Okay, I'm just gonna admit it, I don't really know what I'm doing.

I have the base game, and tried to get awesomemod to work. The problem is probably because I'm using the 1.2.7 version rather than the 1.11.7, in fact that's almost definitely the reason it's not working.
So, I downloaded the 1.11.7 patch, and installed that. Then it came up with an error "Error invalid file found" So I then searched around a bit, and found that the code_version.txt was the invalid file, so I downloaded the text file from a disk, and it still didn't work.
I then did some more searching, and ended up trying to change the zone code in the SKU file to modify my reloaded version to a retail version. So I went into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE and then I was supposed to find the "Sims" folder, but there isn't one. Just goes straight from "Registered Applications" to "SoftThinks" and now I'm not really sure what to do, every topic I look at is telling me to modify the SKU file, which I can't seem to find.

Can someone tell me where I've gone wrong.
14  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 June 01, 14:52:12
No but it does require the latest patch ... that is right now  1.11.7 as 1.2.7 is very much outdated.

Even if it should just throw a "core mismatch" message and not a crash but 1.2.7 is so freaking old that might be the cause ... either way if you want to use AM properly, you always need to keep up with patches.

Oh really, I swear I got a new patch only a couple of weeks ago :/
Okay, well I'll dl the new one and hopefully that will work, thanks for your help (:
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 June 01, 14:13:40
Ok do you have World Adventures, High Tech Stuff and/or Ambitions? did you installed Framework on their directories?

Nope just base game, version 1.2.7.00002.
I think I read somewhere that the current mod was only working with WA? I may have misread though.
16  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 June 01, 09:04:57
Maybe you should try MANUALLY installing the framework. Hardcore high-tech, I know. But my bet is on you being too stupid to be able to do that.
I did. I then ran the framework installer and there weren't any problems.
17  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 May 31, 13:14:27
Anytime the game doesn't fully load, it is most likely a framework fail. Make sure you follow the directions EXACTLY. If for some reason you are too incompetent to follow simple directions, use this: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=384014.

Now.. GO AWAY.

Yeah, I'd already done that. I checked it again just to make sure, but it still didn't work, and the framework installer didn't find any issues.
Oh well, thanks for your help anyway. (:
18  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Awesomemod crashes at loading screen on: 2010 May 30, 12:53:00
I've been trying to find a solution all morning, without much luck.
So I'm just going to ask.

I'm only using the base game.
I've taken out all other cc, so it's not a conflict issue with other mods/hacks/whatever
I've done everything it said to do there http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=403042
The no intro mod works, but then it crashes when it starts loading, and I've tried loading the game without the no intro mod and it crashes at the same place.
I've tried it with both versions of the awesomemod, and neither work.

Any help?  Huh
