1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: TS3 Patch 1.33 on: 2012 March 17, 21:24:52
To respond to Turd Ferguson comment and for everybody else having the horse freezing bug (on Macs only I think) and wondering if stability improvements announced for patch 1.33 fix it: no, it doesn't. As far as I'm concerned horses are still freezing my game (on mac OSX Leopard). I'm not surprised, but still no fix almost 5 months after releasing a broken EP? ... seriously!!??
2  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Most of Custom Hair, Clothing and Some Accessories Suddenly Missing/Broken on: 2012 January 20, 04:35:38
Hmmm, I'm not usually participating in hand-holding either. That said, the above pictures are a reminder of a far too common (daily?) occurrence in my own game, and I thought bringing my 2-cents on this issue could possibly help future users who attempt and succeed at a simple key-word search.

I believe that the CC hair glitch reported in the first post is actually a well known glitch, specific to macs (although possibly not restricted to macs). I personally have been encountering this on and off since the first EP in 2009. This glitch seems to have been alternatively fixed then broken since then. It is not a bug, as it is not EA's concern to make the game compatible with 3rd party content. It may be related to bad CC, but in my specific case, it is not. That said, common sense dictates to weed out your game from bad CC first. Clothing is never affected in my game, only some CC hair, accessories and skins, so your glitch may have a different cause than mine.

I have never found a fix for this and doubt one really exists. Clearing the caches (CASPartCache.package) is all that's needed, but often several attempts are necessary. If the game has crashed, clearing the cache once may not be sufficient. I often have to restart and load the game, then quit the game (using the quit button, not using force quit), then clear the caches again and restart. This routine works, say, about 60% of the time for me.

As for the exception raised issue in CAS, it happens to me as well, mostly when I am impatient and try to select items before the game has finished loading/generating thumbnails, but sometimes without apparent reason. It started with Generations, and have no idea if it's a glitch specific to macs. In my game, it's like the game tripping over it's own feet!

With the new build downloaded today (Nov 12, 6:12AM), the game won't load at all. It will hang indefinitely on the black screen before the Sims logo shows up (and before the intro) and this whether or not I by-pass the launcher. Of course I have tested without any other mods or CC, without the AM tuning file, and I even tried removing my save and library folders.

The game loads normally without AM. My previous build dates back from October 25, and the game loads fine with it, but it is expired. It is quite probable that the problem comes with the major update rolled over on November 7, rather than the latest changes.

I run the game on patch 1.26 with Pets (1.27 on Mac). Maybe it is useful to mention that I run Mac OSX 10.5.8 and I am currently plagued with the infamous horse-freezing bug (game freezes every time it tries to render a horse).

Alternatively, is it possible for me to alter the expiry date of the 25/10 build in s3pe? I noticed an XML instance with "BuildLifeDays value=14", but have been deterred to try due to the "sharp edges" warning so far.

Thanks in advance for your response. I am very concerned about the kittens at EAxis Smiley.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the file. I found where my issues were coming from, there is nothing wrong with your files.

The Animals_Fullset2.package that I was using had recategorized items. I hadn't realized this when I first downloaded. That would explain why some instance numbers are different! The sets were compiled by exangel42 and are available on the store download threat here at MATY. I don't know if it's the most popular version, it was convenient for me because several sets were already merged in one package. I downloaded the Animals_Fullset2 from another source and every preset now show up correctly.

So the problem likely comes from my specific setup. I merged several store content packages into one huge .package file to use in my game, so it wouldn't be possible to upload that one. I thought the merge could be responsible for my problem. I mean, the two override files (one for Animal_Fullset and one for Animal_Fullset2) were trying to modify items in the same package.

But then I replaced the merged package file with the original individual sets in package format (Fullset and Fullset2) and the problem is still there. Both wall lamps work but the desk doesn't. If you wish to take a look, I have uploaded my Animal_Fullset2.package here: http://www.mediafire.com/?mztrzojo3tj.

Yes, the store items are installed as packages. I downloaded them as Fullsets packages from the store download thread here at MATY. It seems unlikely that some items have been decrapified and some not within the same set (the bunny wall light and the desk are both in the same set).

I tried using the decrapified files instead of the unmodified ones, but without success. The items appear in the list (and they have thumbnails) but cannot be placed in the game and there are no details/preview for them. The desk new presets do not appear when I use the decrapified files, the situation for the desk remains is identical (ie: as descibed above using the unmodified version).

First of all, thanks for making these files. I was always ranting about EA not making complete sets for any type of furniture!

I installed the files for the Animals_Fullset, Animals_Fullset2 and SportsLivingSet. I installed the unmodified versions using the override folder method above. I have the new presets in my game for all the items presented in the first post, except for the Little Princess Desk (the 2 wall lamps for example work okay).

I have the usual preset as well as one preset that I saved myself for the desk, but none of the new presets shown in the picture. Instead there is another item without a thumbnail costing $125 (same price as the desk). I cannot select this item and place it in the game and there are no details menu popping out when I click on the thumbnail.
