TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pets fixated on sectional sofa, even after training

I'd completely forgotten about his old sectional fix for Nightlife, since installing OFB seemed to fix it for regular sims. However, the symptoms he describes ("... a sim will sit, stand-up, walk away, turn around, sit, etc... indefinitely, on the sectional sofas.") are exactly what my pets are now doing. I'll give it a try and let you know.
If it doesn't work, maybe CBoy can adapt it to work for pets without too much trouble. It looks like he has been offline for almost a month, though. I'm wondering if he is just on hiatus, or if he has moved on to bigger and better things.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Pets fixated on sectional sofa, even after training

OK, guys, this is the first problem I have not been able to find a solution for, and it's a weird one. Just an annoyance, really, but here goes:
A CAS-created family containing two adult sims and two cats moves into their first starter home. The house contains a sectional sofa, because that is the only way they can afford a 3-tile sofa with a comfort rating of 8. Once they have been trained not to scratch the furniture, the cats begin spending most of their time hopping up on the sofa, briefly sitting down, and then hopping off of it again. Even after both cats are completely trained to stay off of furniture, they still continue to fixate on sitting on the sofa. They will not get on any other human furniture after training; only the sectional sofa draws them. When I finally give up and sell the sectional, replacing it with a regular 3-tile sofa, the problem is solved; they only cared about the sectional. Any ideas?
I own the base game plus all 5 EPs, but no Stuff Packs. All 5 EPs have been patched. Aside from a few custom breeds, the only Pets-related mods I'm currently using are noautopetbuy and nostrayrespawn from here and the auto-refill pet dish and self cleaning litter box from DJS Sims. I was using "boolProp controlPets on" and "boolProp petActionCancel true" to help housebreak the cats faster, so the problem only became obvious when I let them run on their own free will.
I have a lot of other unrelated mods in play, mostly minor fixes that Maxis would have written themselves if they ever playtested their product before sending it to market. Listing them all would take forever and would be more than anyone would want to read. I always check for conflicts when I add a new one, though, and I've tested this with custom content turned off, so I'm pretty sure that's not it.
I posted this in the help section at MTS2, and Inge Jones said she feels that since sectionals use different code than normal sofas, this is probably the result of a bug/oversight in the Maxis code. I was wondering if perhaps someone here has already written a fix that I've been too obtuse to locate, or failing that, if someone might be willing to write one? As I said, this is more of an annoyance than a real problem, as I can always just use a different sofa. However, if any of you have seen (or written) a fix or have an idea what to do, any assistance would be much appreciated.

It worked; the crack was the problem. My game is now fully functional playing off of the CD.
Now, for future reference...
I have SD4hider; I must have been having a slightly stupid moment, as it never crossed my mind to use it on OFB. I have not heard of ASR, however. What is it, and where can I get it? When I Google it I get everything from the Association for the Society of Religion to the African Studies Review...

Moonluck: I tried the HDU before I posted here. I knocked out a couple of things, but the problem persists, and the only possible conflicts still showing are between Inteen and some of its flavor packs and hotfixes (because they override original Inteen code). Are you using a no-CD crack?
Because I was and I had the exact same problem, as well as a broken grade meter for all my YA's. I fixed it by getting rid of my no-CD crack and Daemon Tools, which I was using to mount an mini-image. Now I'm using Game Jackel (free version) and not having the same problems (though, it's only been a week).
I'll try that. I have the broken grade meter as well. When I bought OFB it installed perfectly up to 100%, but the very last file (the update file) was corrupted, which of course meant that the entire installation was rolled back. That pissed me off, so I went and downloaded a pirated copy, which I then installed using the key from my legally purchased CD so I could use it to play. It worked, but then I decided that since something was obviously already wrong with the CD, I should probably preserve it as much as possible, so I went and got the crack. Since it worked fine playing off of the CD, I'll just swap back to the non-cracked EXE and see what happens.

I've run across a bug I can't fix or find the source of. Everything works fine while I am playing. However, when I save and quit and then resume the next day, I find that one or more of my school age sims have had their data reset. By this I mean that they have a grade of C and are in public school, even when all their siblings are in private school and still have an A+. They still have memories of getting into private school, but the flags have been reset. It seems to happen whenever a school age sim interacts with someone else while they are not controllable. Example: A child in family A brings home a friend from school, and it happens to be a child from family B. The next time I play family B, I find that the child who visited the neighbors has had her data reset. It also happens to EVERY school age sim in the family if I move them to another house.
Here are the hacks and mods I currently use:
macrotastics.package sleepclock.package skillinator.package bathroomusesyou.package autoyak.package autosoc.package InTeenimater_A.package InTeenimater_B.package InTeenimater_C.package InTeenimater_D.package InTeenimater_E.package InTeenimater_F.package InTeenimater_FlavorPak_BackToSchool.package InTeenimater_FlavorPak_CollegeAdmissions.package InTeenimater_FlavorPak_NoFailBirthControl.package InTeenimater_HotFix_PlatinumSimsMoodDecay.package InTeenimater_HotFix_SittingAttraction.package zHaveSex.package abortbedmaking.package Always Flush Toilets - Wash Hands.package antibabylecture.package bandatronmovefix.package callover.package captainhero.package dontwalkawaywhilecooking.package FeedBaby.package Food Already Available Fix.package frontdoorhack.package homeworksometimesfasterfun_v2.package ltwvariety.package marriage-postmortum.package marriage-traditional.package MQ_Do_Homework_Mod.package NL - Low Food Warning - Ignore Mini.package noagediscrimination.package noaplusspam.package nocheeringhack.package nodroptiredbaby.package noeatcrap.package nogizmowants.package nomoveamnesia.package nopuddlerage.package noretiredjobspam.package noroadpillows.package noshockforoutgoing.package novelprogress.package nowhatsthis.package Numenor_SlotEnablePackage_Counters.package Numenor_Turn-Off-TV_Fix.package OFB_AdoptTeen.package peestandinghack.package play_athletic.package runtoclass.package ShareBed.package sitter ofb.package Sleep Nude.package smart-lights-nl.package Smonaff_ChangeClothesPieMenu.package sshack.package stereohack.package turnoffcomputerswhendone.package Visitor Snacking Fix.package
I have all of the official expansion packs and am running OFBp2. I do not own FFS. I know the smart lights and low food warning mods still say NL, but those versions seem to work in OFB. All the mods are as up to date as possible.
This is really annoying, especially when I have a teenager just about to go to college and *ping!* all of a sudden he loses his scholarship because he went out on a date and now his grades suck. I know I could get Merola's multipainting or the InSiminator and just reset the flags, but I am trying to find the source of the problem. Does anyone have an idea what it could be?

Anyone want to tell me how to fix my internet at home?
And how to get my damn display back? (Says admin shut off access, but I am the admin)
Then I can be happy too.
(I know the internet should be working, because XBox Live works, but when I try to plug it in to the PC I don't get a connection)
First let's try the simple stuff. Power cycle your entire network. That means shut down the PC and unplug the router and modem. Wait 30 seconds, then plug in just the modem. When all the lights come back on, plug in the router (if you have one) and then reboot the PC. That may be all it takes. If that doesn't work, then we have to get more involved. I dealt with a simple virus one time that just blocked access by switching all my apps to connect through 127.0.0.1. If this is the case we just have to switch them back. In Firefox, click Tools, Options, Connection Settings, then check Direct Connection to the Internet. For IE its Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings, then check Automatically Detect Settings. After making changes, click OK then close the app and reopen it. If that doesn't work, then you'll need some portable media (flash drives are relatively cheap) so you can download a few things at work, or wherever you had access to post here. You definitely need some type of antivirus software. I recommend Avast Home Edition as it is free and allows you to schedule a boot level scan (scans before Windows loads, so any viruses are inactive and can't prevent the scan or prevent themselves from being deleted). You can get it here: http://www.avast.com/. You should also get both AdAware and SpyBot S&D. No adware detector catches everything, but between these two they catch about 95% of what is out there, and both are free. One more small app to download: CWShredder, which specifically seeks out and deletes the entire family of CoolWebSearch trojans. You can get it here: http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.html. Once you get these home, run them in the order you downloaded them: 1. Antivirus (preferrably a boot time scan with Avast) 2. AdAware 3. SpyBot 4. CWShredder If 2, 3, and 4 close as soon as you open them, there is a specific variant of the CoolWebSearch trojan that does that; download and run PepiMK's CoolWWWSearch.SmartKiller removal tool first from here: http://www.safer-networking.org/files/delcwssk.zip, then AdAware, SpyBot, and CWShredder will run properly. If a virus or anything else is refusing to allow you to delete it, get GiPo@MoveOnBoot from http://www.gibinsoft.net/gipoutils/fileutil/rightview.htm#moveonb. This will allow you to move or delete ANYTHING the next time the computer reboots.
