Doh, sorry...
World Adventures pack, fully patched and yes...legit game. She has every Sim title made except that online version that came out a few years ago...
This is a new machine, fresh install as of 3\6 and I installed the game just as you said, base...patches, add on pack, patches....this was also with all downloaded content removed...fresh plain game...
I haven't checked the Event Viewer, thanks..forgot about that one.
Thanks for any ideas...much appreciated Keith
Ps. FWIW, I'm not a noob with PC's (self taught over 15yrs) and consider myself above avg user. I hate even asking for help, but this one has me stumped...
Let me know what you find in the Event Viewer. Also, have you run any other games on this system? Do they play fine or crash? Any problems with your system at all besides the borked game that's called The Sims 3?

I'm sure you're using the game legitimately, but have you patched? Did you install the expansion? Stuff pack? Patch those? If so, you may have patched in an incorrect way. I always install the base game, run the launcher, patch...then install the expansion, run the launcher for the expansion, patch...same way with the stuff pack.
Do you have any other software running in the background when playing the game? Is your video card compatible (I think it is)? Have you checked what might be causing a conflict with the game when it crashes using Windoze Event Viewer? When the game crashes, go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools>Event Viewer>Logs>System and check the event logged during the time of the crash. You can find some answers there sometimes. Copying and pasting the error code (with Sims 3 typed in, too) into Google or Yahoo and doing a search for it can result in an answer to your issue maybe.
I'm just grasping straws. I really don't know what else to say, but try those solutions and see if you come up with a better running game.

I've got 26 processes running in Windoze 7 when I'm gaming. I built this system for gaming. You'd be surprised how many tricks I've got up my sleeve to make a computer run video games with all the detail set to high. Anyways, resources aren't an issue. Nothing is really hogging up processor power or memory when I'm in gaming mode.
I don't have a problem with lot detail for some reason...as long as I don't set it past 4. Whether it's at 4 or 1, I still get a stutter issue. I just set the draw distance from high to low a moment ago, and there seems to be an improvement in performance so the stutter isn't annoying or troublesome anymore, and I don't really notice any crappy graphics anywhere with the setting on low since I play with the camera looking down at my Sims at an angle. I don't see how anyone could play with advanced rendering turned off. That just makes the game butt ugly. So if you've got a shitty computer, you gotta do what you gotta do...but I kinda feel sorry for you.
Also, I notice that everytime I clear caches for the game, it'll start stuttering more with camera movements. I think I'm going to leave caches alone as I don't see a reason to delete them really...
I'm setting a few homes down in my hood at a time now hoping I don't run into some kind of stuttery lag bullshit that will appear out of the blue. I never know what's going to start fucking around with my game, and I'll probably never totally get rid of the stutter because, well...The Sims 3 is really a poorly developed game. I don't know what kind of game engine or code EAxis is using to run this fucker, but it sucks real bad. What a joke.
P.S. My video card drivers aren't the issue.

My load times are fine. The game loads in a couple minutes. And I use a program that's very similar to FPS Limiter. FPSL is basically just a program that forces what's called V-Sync on a video card to lower framerate. I have a program that uses V-Sync and Triple Buffering (I won't get into that), so I get around 60 frames per second instead of 30 with FPSL...which my rig can more than handle. Even without this program I'll get the stuttery camera...
Again, I know first hand that my CC is not what's causing the problem.
I've tried isolating this issue to the umpteenth degree, but I realize now that it's something I'll just have to deal with.

I've reached my wits end trying to fix this annoying problem. It terrorizes me enough sometimes that I'm about ready to throw this game in the fireplace and call it good. I've got a high end computer system (a $400 video card...what more do you need to know?), yet I'm cursed with stuttering issues when I move the camera around. It's not a constant stutter...like, there'll be smooth movement, and then a stutter, and then smooth movement again. Moving the camera in Build and Buy mode is smooth (mostly), but in Live mode, when the game is paused it's least noticeable, and when the game is on normal time it's alot more noticeable. I won't get started on fast forward time. There are brief, laggy moments, but I won't get into that either. I've tried everything in my tech savvy power to eliminate this annoying problem. The camera shouldn't be stuttering like this...it doesn't happen in other games I have that run smooth as silk, but this one's plagued with choppiness. Yes I really have tried alot of things. Checking, monitoring, decrapifying, compressing, merging with all kinds of programs that aren't meant to have to make a game run for Christ's sake! It doesn't have anything to do with official or unofficial custom content because I've installed and run a new save with just this game and its expansions on another computer (with basically the same specs as mine), and the camera still does its evil little thing that annoys the hell out of me. Sometimes it will make the game unplayable...like, when I'm laying a bunch of pre-built houses (game ones) down in the hood. Then a Sim day or two later I'll get assaulted by this constant stuttery lag bullshit and I'll have to load a previous save to get things more, err, back to normal... Why does this stutter happen? Anyone else have issues with it? Any suggestions on what to do to maybe fix the problem? Or is it because The Sims 3 is just a poorly coded game and should be banished to hell, never to return? Curses, EAxis! I wouldn't have brought this up, but it really does bug me when a game should be performing well on a system like mine, and it doesn't. I'm just looking for a miracle I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually accidentally discovered that if I go into Buy Mode and move a piece of furniture (this being the case of an overhead light) and then just move it back to its original location that fixes the Invisible Home bug. Kinda like Pescado's idea but way easier. I run into another problem rarely, but I don't want to get into it. I'm usually able to fix it out of sheer luck. Sims 3 is really such a poorly coded game...I can't believe EAxis released this piece of junk unto the masses. Even so, it's a piece of junk I love!

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Strange problem...

I'm having issues with the homes I custom create. It seems when I move into a home I created, a few days later it will turn into a garbled mess when I switch to map view...but when I zoom back in the home returns to normal. And then a day later (I'm talking Sim days here), the house and everything on the lot will disappear in map view, but it will reappear when I zoom back in. This has happened with two homes I've built in two different locations, and I'm baffled as to what's causing this. I've tried removing all third party custom content, loading a previous save before the lot gets all funky, deleting caches, but the problem still occurs. I'm using Dashboard to scan the little bit of third party custom content I have, but that shows no errors with anything.
I'm stumped. It's an annoyance, but nothing majorly fucked up with my game. I don't think it's a blue lot issue (because...well...my lot doesn't turn blue), and I've tried searching the forum for similar problems but came up with nothing. It just happens to my home and no other pre-built houses or buildings.
Anyone have an idea of what's going on? Are my custom made homes just screwed or something? Any help is appreciated.

Coconnor's help thread doesn't make any sense. He contradicts himself once or twice and doesn't correctly explain where to put files. I had a much better understanding of modding The Sims 3 game and WA from the wiki...although it's slightly outdated. Coconnor's help thread should seriously be revised so it doesn't read like an idiotic lesson. Anyways, I'm getting off track. The test version of AM for HELS 1.9/2.4 seems to be running the game fine. I haven't played at all though because I'm in the process of creating a new house, but hopefully I'll be playing soon! Thanks J.M. A donation might just be right around the corner.

Post a link to where this improved PAY PLUS version of AM that you speak of exists.
I can't post a link, because I wasn't aware of it's existence, or lack of. However, I can post a link where it is mentioned, thus piquing my curiosity. Did you pay the subscription fee? The free version is crappy, the pay version of Awesome Mod is much better.
I imagine this user was speaking facetiously? Well, if you go to http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com you'll see an area you can click on that vaguely explains 'whatever' for the $39.95 subscription fee. There's even a sale going on right now! Awesome!! But that might be for new customers...who knows... Without more details on whatever it is I'm buying (an improved AwesomeMod?; the one and only Awesome V.I.P. area?; who really knows?), I'll be fine with the free version of AwesomeMod, and I'm more likely to make a donation for it since the mod really does improve Sims 3, even though I have some homeless people running around, and I can't seem to get Unified Depreciation enabled in-game (but it's enabled in the optional configuration pack...weird).
