The only thing set up for a beginner that I'm aware of is the tutorial, it's on the main screen when you select a hood and you can take the tutorial at any time just by clicking on it...

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: NPC Clones

Well it occurs on every single vacational community lot in my game, I did pose this question on another forum and someone suffered from this problem with uni and I suspect that BV is just a morphed uni so I'm not suprised that this may be a recurring error brought back from crappy programming I was thinking of perhaps trying to download and install the uni patch again to see if that rectifies the problem but I doubt it will as it's already installed. I'm at a loss as to what to do about this. Not sure if it's an omen that I'm about to have a BFBVFS

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / NPC Clones
|

Recently installed the 2nd patch, tested the game and sent a sim on vacation, when the sim went to a community lot I noticed that a local NPC would duplicate, there would be two of the one character on the lot. One would arrive then it's clone would arrive about 10 sim minutes later. I made the clones selectable and they are indeed the same sim. It doesn't matter which vacation destination I send them to, a clone always appears on the community lot, but it's always one of the locals (ie: in kimono, islander, lumberjack), gender doesn't matter, it alters, it's never one specific NPC local So naturally I deleted the game and put in my back ups, same thing is still occuring is my game headed for a BFBVFS? Any suggestions as to what is causing this, how to fix it? Anyone else suffering from the same problem? EDIT: Also just to clarify, downloads folder has been moved to desktop so it's not a hack, mod or CC causing this issue, it's definately in game, so that's one less thing to eliminate.

Wedgetail once had a problem with Cyd looking for a job except it was crashing their game. I dont think there was a solution
Yes I worked out what it was, it was a custom clothing combo that crashed my game, was a body building mesh/oufit conflicting with a NL hairdo. It's something in your CC file, if it's just Cyd then it's something he is wearing. If it's all sims then good luck tracking it down in your downloads lol

Thanks for all the suggestions, muchly appreciated. Will take a few on board - Lot debugger comes up with nothing I'm afraid. - Yes I can change appearance just fine. - Doesn't matter if he's in maxis or custom clothes. - Yes I meant borked not bogarted and a little snarkiness is fine lol, we all get in those moods from time to time - Cwykes I'd say his file did get messed up somewhere along the way, I think I'll take SaraMK's suggestion and just get rid of him, will wait for the Pets patch to be released and see if that fixes anything... probably not though Appreciate the help people and for the clarification on whether I was the only one experiencing this problem or not, thanks

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Cyd Roseland

Ever since obtaining my Pets EP and the character Cyd Roseland who came with it, has been bogarted. I did ask about this is posieland but it's off the air again and I'd really like some advice on this. Cyd can interact with other sims just fine, he can go downtown, visit etc, etc. The problem is if I try to find him a job, the game crashes. Porthos his dog can get a job just fine (and so can anyone else in the household if I move them in), just not Cyd. The other "glitch" with Cyd is the photo booth. He can woohoo in it to his hearts content, yet try to take a picture and the game crashes. I always play in debug mode and no error message ever pops up. I've removed downloads folder and gone in with a "clean" game and still the same thing happens with him. It does not matter which sub-hood I get him to live in, Downtown, Blue Water or Main the crashes occur in all of them. This does not happen, nor has ever happened with any other sim. Curious to know, is he bogarted in anyone elses game? If so has anyone worked out a "fix" for it? I know the easiest solution is to leave him in the bin or just kill him off, but that does not explain what the problem is with him, nor how to fix it incase it happens to another sim

If you haven't uninstalled them already then go start/run/regedit and you will find them in there, if have uninstalled they won't be there and the above post is right, go into EA website, log in as your sims username go to serial codes/registered games and you will find your serial codes there

Exit out to neighbourhood view (if you are able to) and go into the greek house, if your sim is not there then open the cheat window Ctrl Shift C and type in boolprop testingcheatsenabled true hold down the shift key and click on a sim in the house, from the pie menu select spawn then tombstone of L&D now click on the tombstone and from the pie menu select get family member and the sims name should be there. To turn off the debugging tool open the cheat window again and type in boolprop testingcheatsenabled false and you can sell/delete the tombstone in build/buy mode if you wish This is only a work around though, it won't stop what is causing the problem in your secret society though, sorry I've no idea what is causing that, perhaps a conflict with your custom content

I'm a resetaholic, think I've played out almost every possible scenario with the maxis made sims, if they annoy me I just reset the hood and start again and see what I can do with them this time round Reset comes in handy for someone with a short attention span like myself

Maybe I'm being too logical here or putting to much faith in the EA system, but even though you delete the neighbourhoods they are really still there in your programs files and this is why it's not truely affecting the running of your overall game, as they're only missing from your my documents file when deleted, but the game itself still has the reference in your program files. Or am I way off in my unawesome way of thinking?

If you just want the one reward then go into debug mode boolprop testingcheatsenabled true then hold down the shift key and click on the newspaper and from the pie menu select career reward and then the career that way you get them individually rather than all at once

I'm a play around with graphics kind of freak... I have Dreamweaver, PSP7 and 9, Photoshop, Fireworks, Ulead, PhotoImpact, Kodak shop.... no wonder my sims game is groaning due to lack of space on the hard drive...

Does MATY have an equivalent to the inteenimater? I'm still unsure about navigating my way around here, I downloaded it recently as it was required to make a testing wants for teen woohoo work from this site, never had it prior in my game before that, guess I should of picked the alternative of Jens Flowersomethingorother instead

Do you by any chance have Inteen installed? I always move mine into dorms first, but Inteen allows anyone to live on campus in residential housing, so it might possibly not let the teens age, although I would have thought it would. Only thing I can think of.
Yes I do have it installed, if that's the case then thank you I always like to know the answers of these worrysome little problems. I can continue to work around it by moving them into the dorms first until I reset again, just wanted to know why it was occuring all of a sudden That's one possibility up and running, I thought it was because I hadn't reset Pleasantview correctly but it's occuring in every hood and they haven't been reset. One less mystery in the universe then

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / An Odd Uni Glitch
|
on: 2006 September 04, 00:50:58

I often get bored and reset my neighbourhoods, this time around I got an odd glitch. It all started when I sent Alexander Goth to uni, old Morty had kicked the bucket by then so when I sent him to uni the special events camera kicked in as per usual and instead of him being on his own during his age transition Bella was there to hug him and wipe the tear from her eye, this has never happened in my game before. Well since this occurred, now when I send my teens to uni if they aren't sent to a dorm first they don't age transition to Young Adults, if they are sent directly to a residential lot on campus they remain teens and the school bus comes and picks them up. This now happens in every hood, no I haven't installed any new EP's/Hacks or Custom Content of late, nothing for it to suddenly develop this glitch, other students moved in fine since I reset, it was only after the Alexander/Bella incident that this started to occur. I can work around it by sending the students to the dorm first, then moving them out and into a residential lot on campus, but this is tedious, frustrating, time consuming and annoying. Boolprop debugging comes up with no errors. Has this happened to anyone else? If so do you know why and how it was fixed? If not then I guess I'll just keep using the move into the dorm first work around so they age transition correctly until I'm ready to reset my neighbourhoods again
