TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Graphics problem: flashing screen

Ok, I just got a new computer and installed the sims 2 on it to see how well it would run. Well, it runs very fast and smooth but I have a problem where the screen will occasionally just flash. Now this is starting to get quite annoying because sometimes it will flash many times in succession. Does anyone know why this could be happening?
System specs:
Windows XP Pro
AMD Athlon 3200+ Venice 2000MHz (overclocked to a 4000)
Radeon X800 512MB PCI-e
160GB hard drive
Corsair XMS 1GB
I'm thinking it could be a driver issue, but I'm at university right now so I can't actually check, but I thought I'd try to get anyone's thoughts.

I've found that names from Greek mythology work well for robot names, for example, Zeus and Poseidon. Also, I named two of my servos the robot's names from Chrono Trigger: Prometheus and Atropos (which are also originally from Greek mythology).

Regarding the Sims 2 Database, what I like about it, is that it shows the genetic inheritance with a little chart. It shows that Grandma passed on her blue eyes, while Grandad passed on his green and then that child 1 got the blue eyes and child 2 the green and so on. It makes the connections visible which I don't think SimPE does, although the information is there in SimPE readily enough.
This "Sims 2 Database" sounds like an interesting program. Could you provide a link so I can check it out? Thanks  |

Well, my game has once again been saved by El Presidente!
Just to let you know exactly what happened:
1. Quit without saving a community lot.
2. Entered the lot from the shopping district.
3. Live mode was greyed out.
I hadn't had any problems until I went back into the lot from the shopping district instead of going back to the house and using it to re-enter the community lot. So, I'm thinking maybe this could have something to do with it?

Speaking of twins, ever since I installed OFB I've always had my sim's pregnancies result in twins. I haven't used the cheat, eaten cheesecake, or have hacks that pertain to twins, so I'm thinking it's either a Maxis bug or I've just been really unlucky.

I myself will not pay for downloads (except here at MATY  ) because I am a college student and don't have a lot of extra money to spend, in addition to the initial purchase of the game. Also, I don't think that it is worth paying for downloads when I can get similar items for free, but I don't think it's wrong for people to charge, especially if the money if going towards the overhead cost of making the items available, i.e. costs of bandwidth, maintaining the website, paying the ISP. |

I'm also starting to have problems with the social bunny costume in my legacy family. I had my legacy heir marry a cheerleader and when she moved in, for some reason brought the stupid costume with her, and now nearly always can be seen wearing it in community lots even when I keep changing it back to regular clothes. Hopefully, someone more knowledgable than I will know whats going on.
Not sure if the patch was supposed to fix this or not, but it is a known problem/bug with the Uni specific "special" NPCs like the cheerleader and mascots. If you take them from uni, they will run around your hood and act like they did in Uni. It has been suggested that you only marry profs, secret society or dormies and skip the cheerleaders and mascots. Oh, thanks for telling me. I only wish I knew that before... |

Having more or less come to terms with my pervo Legacy family who like to whoohoo in the social bunny get-up, swim in wedding dresses and go to work in fishnet stockings and garbage bag mini-dresses (OK I made that one up) I'm now getting random crashes back to the desktop. Gahhhhh! the computer is a god-damn PowerMac! It has TWO (count em) processors! it cost several limbs plus some internal organs that were still in use! to purchase and now it's crashing like a god-forsaken Russian space station.
Needless to say it is only the Legacy house that is affected. I can see no obvious pattern in the crashes, have no new custom content and still no hacks or, thanks to Aspyr being slower than a crippled snail stuck in frozen treacle, any expansion packs.
