FUBAR'd, yes, but nothing to do with anatomy.
Ah, I completely missed the bit about anatomy. Reading Fail. Oh well, I have a couple more images that I found in my Photobucket... Would you like a backrub? Just let me dislocate my arms... Darn, I still can't reach. That looks PAINFUL. Floating Baby no Jutsu!

Yes, they probably "could care less". Now THAT is one of my pet peeves. I cringe every time I read that particular phrase. Sometimes I point out why it is wrong, but I tend to get called a Grammar Nazi for my trouble.

Lana, I downloaded your house through Firefox, but when I tried to install it the clean installer gave me an error message.
It looks like a really nice house though.
Boo. Hiss I have put the file somewhere else and changed the original link. The quoted link still points to the original upload which I will leave in case it works for some. 105SimLaneLanaB.Sims2PackIf someone gets it to work, please let me know. Thanks Lana. It downloaded OK and the clean installer didn't throw the error message this time. I've also fired up the game to check it out. and everything seems to be hunky-dory.

But, unfortunately, EA is so stubborn they'll totally ignore it. I read somewhere (may have been on PMBD) that EA made Amazon uk remove all the negative reviews. Seeing as the only review on Amazon UK is just one five star review, I can well believe it. I also believe that there are similar cover-up tactics going on elsewhere. It stinks and I'm glad that Amazon.com aren't being cowed!

That, and when I return to my other sims, I find that they've accrued about ten million new 'I met' memories because of the new townies who insist upon greeting anything that will stand still long enough. -_-
I just started playing Apartment Life yesterday (after spending a while moving CC in and out to find some hack that was causing a problem) and I noticed the obsession with greeting. If you cancel it out of the queue, they are trying to greet again moments later. Annoying.

Ugh - I don't really want any apartment townies, let alone hundreds. I have my favourite hood set up the way I like it, without any EAxis townies.
I already have the game, but I'm probably going to hold off installing for the moment, just in case someone makes a no-spawning hack and a hack to create your own apartment townies.
If I do install it, I don't think I'll be playing that hood for a while.

I don't. Mind you, I don't play the original maxis hoods much. I set up my own hood to play as I like without any of those Maxis Fuggo Townies. What's sad is that I found it more fun setting the hood up than actually playing it. But when I read the thread title, I thought it was going to be along the lines of 'how often do you reboot your computer'.

Thanks for the tip. I had mine set to 'enabled', but if you say 'forced' is better, then forced it shall be. Not that I download much in the way of torrented games, but whatever.

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Death by Financial Consulting
|
on: 2008 June 26, 10:48:12

I had to remove the computers from my Sim's houses because there is at least one sim in every household that will sit at the computer all the time giving financial consulting for hours on end.
Also because certain visiting Sims will make a bee line for the computer and hog it while others stand around nearby complaining that they can't get at it.
Very annoying.

Yes, I know someone already pointed it out, but as they say, screenshots or it didn't happen. Hardly instils confidence, does it? I'm sitting this one out for now to see how it messes up other people's games first.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Game crashes when sims change appearance.

Numenor found the problem. I'll copy/paste the text here: 1. Open the folder where you have installed your game: I mean the PROGRAM folder, not the Documents!
2. Browse to: EA Games\The Sims 2\TSData\Res\Catalog\Skins
3. If you see a small file named Skins.package, with size 1Kb only, delete it.
4. RENAME the file Skins.disabledpackage to Skins.package. (If you DON'T see the .disabledpackage file or the Skins.package is NOT only 1Kb, then this solution is NOT for you: don't delete anything!)
That's all. All the crashes in the CAS, or changing appearance, or entering the lots should immediately stop; the unexpected hair colour or skin tones over your sims should also revert to normal.
NOTE: if you HAVE SAVED a lot while the sims were showing unexpected hair or skin colour, I'm not 100% sure that the hair or the skin in that lot will automatically revert to the right tones.
Of course I'd already gone down the road of uninstall/reinstall before he came up with this, but it may be of help to someone who still has the problem.

Well, I imported the backup neighbourhood and it still crashed - then I imported the whole backup and it still crashed on lot entry. I uninstalled BV and ran under Seasons (with no savegame and totally reset neighbourhoods.) Vicund has the wrong hair colour and on sending him to a mirror the game crashed.
If the game crashes with a totally clean Sims 2 folder, will uninstalling the whole game and reinstalling fix it (something I'm NOT looking forward to,) or could there be something left behind from the any game starter which is borking the whole thing?
I guess I'll try reinstalling BV first on the off chance that it will fix it, but I'm not optimistic.
*Atom acknowledges that she is totally non-awesome for borking the game like this and should really have known better.*

I also installed that AnyGameStarter. I sure wish I hadn't.
When I went into my main game, it asked me if I wanted to make vacation destinations for Strangetown when they already existed. (I told it no.)
Then on trying to play a family on vacation it gave me the application error and died.
I've only tried to load a couple of lots since, but so far it always crashes on loading.
ATM I'm uninstalling and reinstalling BV to see if it makes a difference. Good job I keep backups of my game. (not that I've played any other hood but strangetown so far - I wanted to make sure that the Vacation Townies actually stay in vacationland before playing my main hood.)

I've noticed that you can put slices of birthday cake away as leftovers, but not the cake itself.
Yeah - not much food value there, but I thought I'd throw that one in anyway...

I think the fruit chairs were part of the April Fools' Day gag, weren't they? *goes to check date they were posted* - 5th August 2005, so no, not April fools. I remember the April Fools fruit sofas though. ^_^' That clown chair may well haunt my dreams. Mine too >_< P.S. The babies-as-furniture have hairy armpits or something. Yuck.
that's just creepy... and weird...
