Wait... so you are implying that the vacations to never never lands are absolutely efficient in terms of traveling?  If so, my god this game was made for you because I cannot stand the fact we have to run from point a to point b when there are perfectly fine dirt roads for bikes or mopeds to travel on.  If you think it is stupid for them to walk then this new expansion was made for you.

Also if there are any weird flashing or hangs or crashes, could have to do with "hardware fail" as well.  But I have to agree it looks kinda cool.  My game hasn't done that yet.

3  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Getting a new computer - advice needed! on: 2009 December 30, 08:55:20
Solid state drives are still too new, too expensive, and overrated.  It's something I may buy after the technology has stabilized as the founding principles are solid.  But for something I'd use now, I would much rather use that money on upgraded components more crucial to gaming like a video card.  Or spend more money on a reliable motherboard.

As for video cards, I disagree with Rayea as there are vocal advocates who swear by ATI and feel they are the more preferred and compatible gaming choice.  However, if you know how to work with 3rd party drivers, NVIDIA feels the same to me.

I've never been a fangirl of any particular company anyways.  As long as I can make it work and the reviews are generally favorable I go for it.

1000 Watts is overkill if you're getting a system under 1K.  And Pescado has a point about the OS selection.  I use what works, which in this case is WinXP pro.

Also, if you're a novice don't build your own system.  There are times you will receive a lemon, and when I was troubleshooting my SO's computer the time I spent on that machine would have probably bought me a new one had I been working full time.

The only reason why I would ever recommend a novice build their own system is if the only available OS choice was Vista.  I have not and will not use Windows 7 until it has been fully tested but would choose it over vista if those were my only two selections.

Close to necromancy, so apologies if interest has waned.

This was once an intended feature of WA but is now "working as intended" according to SimGuruLilly.

The ire of the player base is actually founded as EA has mentioned previously in transcript that dungeons would reset.  Also with an XML hack to allow adventures, I literally walk into only the last room and bam.  The "tomb fully explored" achievement is fulfilled. They are definitely not capable of implementing dungeon save states let alone programming random dungeons.    This is especially evident when a SimGuru encourages the player base to build their own tombs with tools that are buggy and incomplete.

The beds work fine on Vacation for me, but one thing you have to beware of is the popularity of KEWIAN-BASED SUBSTITUTES in EAxian construction. All the beds they use are uniformly worthless. ACCEPT NO KEWIAN-BASED SUBSTITUTES.

I was just about to come back and reply.  Thanks. Smiley

And Gastyfr, that is correct.  My "fix" is using a 2-bed camp outside (or even inside) the base camp and the speed goes back up to 3.

Also I'm sure some know this but EA made duplicate women bathrooms at a campsite in France.  My male sim found this out the hard way.

@Shortyboo
Pics or it never happened!  I want to see the baby stacking!

In any case, what version are you using?  I don't fault awesomemod because the underlying code would be far more liable to cause a glitch as seriously botched up as that.  In the rare moments awesomemod has glitched in sims 2 and 3, all it would do is not go through with a command.  I haven't had the flagrant errors, and I usually only have inherent sims 3 bugs.  As far as I'm concerned, AM only helps make the game far less annoying and buggy than it actually is.

That said, do you save often and sequentially? If so can you attempt to duplicate what happened?  Whenever something buggy happens I usually have a save game wherein I can duplicate the issue.  For instance, I've had my kenspa disappear from my inventory in france and this happened when I traded it to a sim who was already riding on one on the road.  I have to try duplicating it a third time, but the second time I did it happened once more.  In short, playing this game requires people to become amateur debuggers.
6  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Sim canīt fish any more on: 2009 December 22, 17:21:30
Try going ahead and making a new sim and fishing with him/her.  If fishing is fine, I can upload a sim for you to test who has level 10 fishing.

If you can fish with both those sims that means that your save file is corrupted.  You can try making a copy of that save game via the menu, though I do not know if that will change anything.

If you still cannot fish with all those sims, and the fixes mentioned in this thread don't work for you that means your game install is corrupted and you need to reinstall the game.

FWIW it does not happen in my game either though I can test further.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 plus Create a World Released on: 2009 December 22, 16:57:53
@Coconner: That explains the recent surge of nublets bawwing about how the game doesn't work and wanting Pescado to "plz fixes it...".  Despite the initial annoyance, the MATY responses and ensuing emo butthurt is exceedingly entertaining

Other than that, the patch looks just like a standard EA fail patch.

So I'll skip this one until Pescado decide he's sufficiently beaten it into submission with an awesome-schtick.

9  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Variable Crashes on: 2009 December 11, 20:22:20
On the official sims 3 forum someone said that the crashes happen at game speed 3 and 4 due to frame rates being too fast.

They suggested you lower the frame rate to a steady number (do not remember if it was 24 or something but look on the forum) and while I still blame the code, it was reportedly a fix for some people.

Also, it could be your nvidia driver if you are using up to date ones.

This game requires that you rollback to an older driver version.
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Does it always take forever for 1.7 games to load? on: 2009 December 11, 20:16:22
slightly off topic however lots with a lot of foliage will slow to a crawl on my machine.

That and ea download manager sucks badly, but people *should* know that by now I hope.

My sims 3 has never crashed nor slowed down significantly due to mass paranoia during installation.  Awesome Mod only made the game much more tolerable.

But foliage was one thing that made my machine load and slow to a molasses.

11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: New Update Coming & The Sims 3 Create a World Tool (A.K.A Trouble Alert?) on: 2009 December 11, 20:05:40
Oh god...

C-A-W = create-a-wah

End users will baw at the horrendous errors and ea store bugs while modders everywhere will need to work double time to develop even more fixes and mods to fix new world errors.  In other words, the game will be even buggier than before (props to EA for working the impossible) and they willl continue to find sleazy money making schemes that do nothing but ruin what's left of their image.

Frankly EA should get their heads out of their asses and fix their stupid game, remove the dumb downloader that doesn't even WORK before introducing more crap and spyware that will do nothing but ruin the sims line for good.

NOt sure if this is a feature but if it does it sucks. badly.

in general it takes me about 12-14 hours to be fully rested in china.  My cousins who just got into the game agree it takes a while to be rested as well.  Have yet to try sleeping in the tomb.
Are you only seeing this is China?  What tent/bed are your sims sleeping in?

Thanks for responding.  I have to try a tent but it's in china and any other World Adventure location.

Rather than going at the 3 green arrow filling rate for energy it is only at two arrows.  This is with the fastest game speed on.  (4)

I believe the beds at home are ok and the filling rate is accurate, but I'll report back.

The more I find out about TSR the more I feel it's a unending cluster f* of drama, pulling the wool over innocent customer's eyes, and moderator to moderator ass patting.

Kinda like deviantArt!
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Crash to desktop on: 2009 December 04, 07:21:43
Edit

Went back to the old machine and discovered it was a driver issue.  Downgraded to a 186.x nvidia driver version and completely stable since.  A.K.A time to overclock the sucker.

Installed Sims 3 onto a higher end Vista machine.  That one now crashes randomly so I have to fix that one.  Oh goody.

Again for those of you who are experiencing issues, try uninstalling, reinstalling, using different drivers as well as using an old or new video card driver.

Because I have seen for a fact that awesome mod works absolutely fine on 2 machines now.  One originally with driver issues.

If doing everything still doesn't work though blame EA.  Their games are buggy as hell and it always takes me a better part of a day or two just to get the damn thing not to crash to desktop.

Original post:
=============

Have installs on both a laptop and a desktop.  Laptop is a clean install and does not crash at all.  Other, a desktop, does crash randomly.

I strongly believe the crashes have to do with the old files from before as well as a potential hardware issue/incompatibility.

If, however the laptop starts crashing, I'll probably look into the debug messages.
