TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Motive Decay rates

In TS3, social motive decay almost never happens, at least in my game; and anyway, I'm starting to think it might be better to wait for sims 4 than to bother trying to fix all the crap that EA threw at us.
You talk as if TS4 will be here relatively soon. Unless you do plan on waiting that long.

Also, I sent in a help request to EA, and they asked to see a log that I can generate that shows specs of my comp, it kind of worries me as to what they might do with it if I were to. OBVIOUSLY they'll use your computer's spec information to send their drones in the night to harvest your organs and feed their insatiable desire for flesh. OBVIOUSLY. I don't see how I didn't see that. Pardon my stupidity. Seriously though, you never know, I mean, I trust them even less than before (which wasn't much anyway) after their latest spyware deal.

I'm getting this a lot. Usually after saving, which is really annoying. It's still the same "Attempted to read/write protected data" message like before the "fix".
If you're running on Windows 7, make sure that you run the program as an admin (right click on the icon and select "run as administrator" or change your shortcut to always run as the admin). After I did this, it stopped crashing completely. I don't have Windows 7, I have Vista, but I'll give it a shot nonetheless. Also, I sent in a help request to EA, and they asked to see a log that I can generate that shows specs of my comp, it kind of worries me as to what they might do with it if I were to.

That looks more like an Adobe Air error which is apparently the crapplication they used to build their terribad launcher. I would assume Air is trying to check for its own update before the EA stuff loads and since it can't, the application fails. Regardless, that launcher is a terrible piece of work.
As long as it isn't a serious problem to my computer. Thanks radiophonic. EA's shoddy and half-assed work seem to be showing it's face a bit more than usual with all this jazz.

When I try to use it, it gives me crap that my current installed game isn't up to date with my version of CAW and it tells me to reinstall CAW (or something similar to that). I've reinstalled it and it still gives me the same message, anyone else? I'll post a pic in a sec.CAW ErrorAccording to EA, you must uninstall the old version first, then install the new version the OP linked. Don't try to install it over top of the old version. If you did that then check the file Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Create a World Tool\worldbuilder.ini the last line should read WBVersion = 1.9.14.007037 If it does check to see if the versions for each of the installations (Base/WA/HELS/AMB) are as follows: Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt GameVersion = 1.14.11.007002 Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt GameVersion = 2.9.10.007002 Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 High-End Loft Stuff\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt GameVersion = 3.5.8.007001 Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 Ambitions\Game\Bin\skuversion.txt GameVersion = 4.2.32.007001 Or just get the patch downloader utility from MTS and it will automatically check for you and let you download the appropriate patches. That would be the problem. When I reinstalled all my Sims 3 games today I figured when it said, "This expansion pack requires the base game to be updated (or something like that)" that it would update it to the highest version. Thanks Motoki.

I haven't had that problem. Have you checked the graphics settings on your game?
I play with everything set to maximum. Unless the patterns exported from CrAP aren't to be used with highest settings, I'm not sure what's up. But I uninstalled TS3 and "friends", I got TS2 recently, so I can't really test this out.

I'm having this error message pop up when I start up the Sims 3, before opening the launcher it says this little message:
*snipped*
It started after I blocked all of my Sims 3 .exe and Launcher programs from accessing the internet. Could it be the Launcher trying to "phone home" and failing? Or something more serious I should look into? Thanks.
Speaking for the legal version (for the base game, at least), I think that happened when the launcher and EADM tried to talk to each other. It only happens to me when I use the launcher to install things because I use the .exe to launch the game. If you're trying to play from the launcher, just go into game/bin and use the .exe to bypass it. Okay, thanks. I'd say it's useful, but I went out and got TS2 after reading about how much fun everyone said it was, so bye TS3 for now. Thanks though Tever.

Yes, almost all of Twallan's mods work with AwesomeMod, but as for the Story Progression, Awesome comes with it's own, so I wouldn't use Twallan's with AM. On Twallan's homepage though, it generally says whether or not it works with AM. So SEARCH MOAR, and all that jazz.

I've found after I made a pattern, the background looked fine, but the yellow detailing on it that was yellow in the CrAP tool appeared differently in-game. It turned into a yellow that fades into orange, rather than straight up yellow.
Also, being able to use certain textures in the pattern would be nice, like a metal or a wood, instead of just flat.

I love the interior of that house Tangie, it looks like a fancy pack of chocolate truffles with raspberry filling. Mmm... To me the garage looks a little big though. But how did you attach it to the house without a foundation?
Hee. You're making me hungry. Yes, the garage is out of proportion to the house. Length-wise, it is the smallest I could make it and still fit the parking space in it so sims could actually park a car in there. Width-wise, if I take away the extra square on either side of the garage door, the side of the garage door clips through the living room wall. DNW. So that was pretty much the smallest I could make it. I may have been able to take away one square length-wise, but might have had to use moveobjects on to place the parking space. I think there is something that is just off about the scale of houses in general in comparison to sims. It is one of the reasons why I find it difficult to make them small. That, and the crappy routing. You have to use the constrainfloorelevation (CFE) false cheat to attach the walls to the rest of the house and then shorten walls etc. I hadn't done it in awhile and was afraid that I forgot how, but it all came back to me. Witch is correct, you can find several tutorials on the 'net that explain how to do it. I've noticed it is challenging to make smaller houses that look good. I can pump out grunge houses for my shanty towns in no time though, but they lack a certain quality. And I did find the tutorials via Google, but I got lazy and didn't feel like booting up the game and waiting for it to load. Thanks for that though, much appreciated.

I've had this happen to me with the doors before. I would set them up to be opened by stepping on a hidden panel so I would lock them so they couldn't be "Opened upon Inspection." However, on entering the tomb with my sim, the door would either be locked and unable to be opened via the hidden trigger or opened already. I think it's something to do with the way you set the behaviors and the triggers.

Have you ever tried Kuler? I love it and use it all the time. You can find color schemes, or match/complement/etc existing colors. That is just amazing! I've been having a hard time picking out color schemes for my houses and they've started to look drab and boring. Thanks for this! And I like the house Witch, although the outside striping is a little odd. I usually go with some siding for my smaller houses and masonry for the bigger ones, but that's just me.

@IgnorantBliss: I'll check that out, thanks.
In other possible borkedness news, I also had trouble getting the baby sitter to show up and had to call her 3 times in one morning. I suppose this could be because she is a teen and is supposed to be in school, and technically not a bug. I hate the way EA has done the babysitter but I suppose they think that makes things more challlenging or something. Does anyone know if that mod that changed the babysitters to older sims/nannies still works in AMB?
I forgot to mention that I also finally got the Tag Running Bug. Bunny Curious played tag with one of her friends and now she runs everywhere. I'm going to get the whole family playing tag in my latest test game just to watch the ensuing, run-don't-walk fun.
I had an issue with the babysitter as well, my sim went off to work and it forced me to call a babysitter for the kid, and the babysitter never showed up, or so I thought. It spawned her inside a fenced-off area full of plants and she was never able to actually get inside to deal with the baby.

About the running bug. I started playing last night again, but now the running bug have infected my whole hood. No one is standing still. If I direct my sims to a community lot she runs there, then lots of townies come running into the lot, only to turn around and leave running again. The streets are filled with running sims, and when I do home decorations as a part of my job, the clients run around to do the checkups and then promptly run away.
Gawd it is frustrating.
I finally had enough and created a new hood, with a new incarnation of the same sim. Got her a regulare non-profession job so I could play on high speed, and after 5 days she also started running out of the blue. After that I gave up, and rebooted the game and started building instead. To me, this is as much of a game stopping bug as the jump bug was in TS2.
I think it has to do with playing tag. I just had two sims play tag and both of them are on perma run now. TBH I like it. That must be it! I recall it happening when my daughter was in the Child stage, and she played tag with the wife...glad to know where it comes from. I guess I'll just have to be a fun Nazi when it comes to those things now.

After my family moved into their new house, the wife and daughter seem to want to run everywhere. There's nothing going on that constitutes the need to run. Though if I click "Go Here" and select the tone to "Walk" they walk.
There's a trait that makes sims run everywhere, I think it's clumsy. None of them have that trait. My daughter is doing it now too. But not the husband. Maybe it's just female sims? Is the sim athletic? They tend to run by default, I noticed. Nope, it's kind of handy if I have their motives set to static and I just let 'em run free, they get places faster lol. Actually, my daughter is Athletic, but the wife is not. So it can't be that.

FireDrake: You stated that a couch was restored after a few days. That is different from a disaster to a town. If your answer were the case, then the town would take a few days to be restored .... but per a subsequent post, that is not the case. Thankfully.
I didn't say just a couch, I said that it fixed it all. It says it right there. I just noted that in-game the couch was fixed. Maybe the XML's are lying to me? Idk.

So I'm sitting at the firehouse playing video games; just another boring day on the job; when BLAMO! I thought my game exploded. The screen started shaking and there was a horrendous noise. Fires braking out all over town; people trapped under piles of rubble; gas leaks in numerous homes; it was pandemonium I tell you!
So what happened to your hood? Are the items permanently damaged or do they reset? I will be very upset if a hood I have spent a zillion hours playing and building is halfway destroyed. Does it restore itself like it does for the individual fires, per posted above? I'm pretty sure that's what I said it does right?
