Kubuntu- Ubuntu with KDE. Funny that you're having problems with the resolution, as that's the exact resolution my friend's laptop uses, and it works fine.

Try the Kubuntu Live CD/Installer, that way you can check it before you install it.

I have a copy of Windows XP Non Spyware edition (also known as Corporate edition if you want to ebay it Tongue).

It tries to phone home on errors, but didn't need activation, and all the software updates work. I've since made a Non-IE version of XP, that was about 200 megabytes. I might be able to upload it if you need it.

2/0/2/4/7

I would've got higher active score, but I'm really tired all the time right now (stupid anaemia Tongue)
4  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much on: 2005 November 06, 13:51:19
I had 6 files Tongue I really need to get all my fixes and stuff back Tongue
5  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: How much is too much on: 2005 November 05, 15:15:12
I've got 1.4mb.... I guess it'll still be easy for me to organise before I go on a downloading spree, eh?
6  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: The patch ruined my game - Now with pictures! on: 2005 November 03, 16:55:35
Drivers are only up to date for a few days now, it seems.

77.77 (or something) seems to be the most stable I've found Smiley
7  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Please suggest a good Sims 2 Video Card on: 2005 September 30, 05:33:39
Just to point out, having a 128mb NVidia FX 5200 doesn't automatically mean you're only allowed to invite 2 people to parties - it also depends on the rest of your computer. I'm allowed to invite 4 without a cheat (got an AMD Athlon 64 3400+ with a gig of RAM). It also defaulted the graphics to medium with Nightlife, rather than low (but I turned them up to high and nothing lags).

I do want to get a better card though... anyone suggest any low priced ones that show bumpmaps?

All her electronic toys were given to her... it seems whenever the village doesn't want something, it ends up here Tongue

Add to that her very generous grandparents, great-grandparents and aunties, and you can see how she's got a full bedroom... Tongue

I've got a wav file of her going "baa sheep"... it's quiet, but it's pretty clear.

She's got a brightly coloured kiddies laptop, and her telly is black, as is her video recorder. Her DVD player is silver, and her new pc is beige... time to get out the stickers, methinks.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Should I allow my daughter to join MATY? on: 2005 September 26, 09:52:22
She's getting her own computer today (most likely either a 286 or a 386)... I've just tided her room trying to find a place to put it... might have to bring her table and chair into her room to put it on Tongue

Samantha's been posting on forums since before she can sit up Wink When she learns how to read I'll have to make sure she doesn't see things she shouldn't, but until then she can do lots of Baaing at the sheep.

Current training:
Walking = Passed since 9/10 months
Speaking = Around 40%
Potty = Around 20%

And yup... she's already got a TV, Video and DVD player, two CD/tape players, a laptop (a kiddies one), a house, a car...
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Should I allow my daughter to join MATY? on: 2005 September 25, 16:57:15
I allowed her to make one post before bed (ok, she's gone early... but only by a few minutes Tongue)

She likes the emoticons... she'll no doubt be posting more when she gets her own computer tomorrow Smiley
13  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Should I allow my daughter to join MATY? on: 2005 September 25, 16:40:12
She's too well behaved... never has played in the toilet. In fact, one of my complaints about the Sims 2 is that their toddlers are so hard to look after compared to my daughter Tongue
14  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 25, 16:37:02
That's true Smiley

*goes into stereotyping mode* it's only some of the Chavs/Charvas/Scallies on benefits that cause problems... and not all of them, by any means.
15  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Should I allow my daughter to join MATY? on: 2005 September 25, 16:29:51
21 months tomorrow Wink

I am asking for these reasons:

She plays the Sims 2 probably more than the sheep on the BBS. She knows how to click on the Sims and can make them do things.

She may not be able to read or type yet (although I can do it on her behalf) but she knows what a sheep is, and often goes "Baaa" when she sees one.

I also believe she is more intelligent than most of the sheep, and of course I'll be supervising her visits.

Do any of you have any objections?

Danni (and Sammie)

Hear hear laeshanin Wink Remember, Lords are just as likely to commit arson as those on benefits Wink
18  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Nightlife Nightmare on: 2005 September 25, 12:14:36
And on Monday I'm going to install the Sims 2 onto a 286....

... Just kidding Tongue
19  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 23, 18:18:06
REGGIKKO!!!! *Huge Hugs* Glad your back... hope things aren't too bad.

I've loved all your stories up to now... I guess you'll have to make new ones? *hopes Wink*
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Parents, a warning about lead in lunchboxes. on: 2005 September 23, 17:53:55
I use a plastic tub, and my daughter is too young for a lunchbox Tongue

It's slightly worrying though.
21  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 20, 20:07:39
Tongue If you want to see that pic, go to http://blackboard.gateshead.ac.uk... I'm the one in lilac... Wink
22  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 20, 10:19:45
My spleen is enlarged... I've had plenty of doctors look at me already, which means I wouldn't be bothered at all Smiley
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 20, 10:05:51
Sounds good to me Tongue If I'm wearing my heels you don't mind looking up at me then? Tongue
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 20, 09:55:16
I dare you to do it... and then post their reaction Tongue

I have almost non existant breasts at the moment (bah, a year ago they were 40 E, now they're 36 A... I stopped breastfeeding Tongue) but most men look in that general area because they don't like looking up at me, being as short as they are Tongue Luckily my adoring partner likes me just as I am Smiley
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Hurricane Katrina on: 2005 September 20, 08:37:01
What are you doing JM with men looking down at you in that way?
