Modified the roof pieces in the Mother Russia set, and the dormer and spire in the Grim's Ghasty Manor (orwhateveritscalled) set. Now visible in neighborhood view, and not catalogued under buy>deco, only in outdoors>roof decor or lawn ornaments. Both sets are complete and include the clothing. MOTHER RUSSIAGRIM'S MANOR About the objects not fading out in zoom when playing on a lower floor... if I figure how to fix it I'll update, as for now I found that just double-clicking on them with the hand tool in build/buy mode works, a bit of a drag, buy anyway...

I fear that this problem will persist, namely that these roof decorations will not fade when going down a floor. Replacing them in Buy Mode will only fix it for the current session. I think it's the same with the fake skyscraper roofs that came with Roaring Heights. They are visible from map view but don't fade when you zoom into the lot in Live or Buy/Build Mode. Someone at simlogical is working at solving the same problem: http://www.den.simlogical.com/denforum/index.php?PHPSESSID=gcrhmrh2h6cuqqtfjo0mlloo12&topic=3096.0Thank for the info! I'll check Simlogical's thread see if I can figure it out, I'm not much of a modder, I'm afraid... As far as I can see in my game it's kind of random, sometimes they don't fade out when I zoom but sometimes they do... hmmm... That said I noticed that the spire and dormer from the Grim mansion/graveyard lot has the same problem, off to fix it!

Well, here it is! I had a look at Goggalor's Mansard roofs ( here) and checked the OBJD in S3PE, seems that categorizing them as large objects does the trick, they are now visible in neighborhood view. In this package the mansard roof pieces, the tower and (I think, I'll double check and update) the deco curved stairs are not catalogued under object type, but in outdoors/lawn ornaments. Also the spider webs, chandelier chain and shutters should now stay after move/eviction. The only little issue I found is that when first loading the game the objects were visible even when playing a lower floor, blocking the view, but it seems that just removing them and replacing them fixes this, so let's say this is kind of "testers wanted", please report if you have any trouble. In any case I'd recommend deleting the compositorCache file. DOWNLOAD

Don't double-post. Read the FAQ before posting again.
ETA: I seriously doubt there is absolutely no way for you to retrieve a Sims3Pack you legitimately own. Also, we do not share decrapified sims3packs; fuck your Mac.
1) Sorry for double posting, I tried to edit my post but it wouldn't save, the problem is probably my fucking mac (?) 2) NO, there is no way I can retrieve that file, but never mind. Thanks

I'm playing on a mac, apparently the patched game installs custom .Sims3pack files correctly but not EA store items (I tried with two items I downloaded here, not officially bought at the store, so maybe they added some anti-piracy crap), and all my previous downloads (store or not) are showing up fine. Oh, and CAW is only for PC, how nice

Well, I'm glad you chose the positive response... OK, I deleted the cache from my browser I'll re-download (the file info states it was created today at 0:23 though) and follow your instructions. Thanks! (edit to say: re-downloaded AM, file info states created today at 4:53, keeping my fingers crossed)

Sorry, I followed instructions very carefully, I know how to use a computer, I am not a noob, but my game CTDs at 12:59 am on the second night every time.
I have the d3dx9_31.dll file in both directories (as directed by coconnor, in any case having this file in one directory only doesn't work either) and I tried all of the following at different times: placing the framework (Resource.cfg file and Mods>Packages folders) in The Sims 3 placing the framework (Resource.cfg file and Mods>Packages folders) in The Sims 3 World Adventures Placing Resource.cfg in both directories as wizard_merlin suggested. Aaand I delete the ScriptCache file every time.
Maybe the problem is that I'm playing on a Mac, or maybe (I know I'm going to get bashed for this!) it's the AwesomeMod, or maybe it's the CC I have in my game. I took all the hacks out but have furniture and CAS items installed as Sims3Packs. I that case, if I have to choose I'd rather have nice furniture than awesomeness, and I'll just wait and keep trying with future updates.
Oh... and go ahead, call me whatever, if it amuses you.

So far yes, thanks a lot, at least game didn't crash at 1am. I have to go because it's 9 am here and I'm late for work but I'll test some more this evening and report if I have any trouble (though I don't think so, now everything makes more sense)

I was also wondering what the Mods>Files folder was (seamed like an awful lot of files to me), but I installed it because it came with the last framework I downloaded and I didn't know if it had anything to do with WA... Thanks a lot for your answer (I didn't post in your other thread because you asked it to be locked so I wasn't sure)

First of all I'm sorry if I'm being one of those annoying persons who ask the same question over and over, but I'd rather ask for help (yeah, this is supposed to be a community) than try the dozens of different configurations and still not be sure I'm doing it right. I really appreciate coconnor's explanations but somehow I can't figure it out... I would really be nice if someone would be kind enough to tell me what's wrong, my game used to crash at 1 am, now it doesn't even load, it freezes on the black screen before the EA logo. So, this is what I have: The Sims 3>Game>Bin>d3dx9_31.dll The Sims 3>Mods>Files>DDFMap.txt The Sims 3>Mods>Files>Resource.cfg The Sims 3>Mods>Packages>Awesome.package The Sims 3>Resource.cfg The Sims 3 World Adventures>Game>Bin>d3dx9_31_dll The Sims 3 World Adventures>Mods>Files>DDFMap.txt The Sims 3 World Adventures>Mods>Files>Resource.cfg The Sims 3 World Adventures>Mods>Packages>CC (no hacks) The Sims 3 World Adventures>Resource.cfg I see a lot of Resource.cfg files there, but which ones am I supposed to get rid of? And if you really want to start dumb-blonde-bashing, go ahead, I'll just assume you don't know the answer either...

Awesomeware / Armoire of Invincibility / Re: TOOL: TS3 Recompressor
|
on: 2009 October 17, 07:38:20

Thanks for this tool, this was very much needed. However I've found one little glitch: some .package files don't like to be compressed and will not show up in catalogue. Up to now this has happened I think only with CAS items. I've double checked this and I'm 99% sure it's a compression issue, items did show up in catalogue when uncompressed. Maybe they got too small, from 2 MB to maybe 300 KB or something like that.
