Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread

I've been playing my vampires recently, and the novelty quickly becomes tiresome as the game feels the need to constantly remind me that vampires do not like sunlight (it even admits it is a well known fact-- why the fuck are you telling me then?) every time I order one to bring the newspaper into the house, walk into the garage or go to work. Maybe Awesomemod should change this so that this warning is only thrown up when a vampire is being a retard and has already been standing out in the sun for long enough to get a well done crisp going.
Because at the moment, it's creating a boy who cried wolf effect where I just click away the warning every single time and find out the vampire has been chilling in the sun for the past 5 hours when the camera pans over to him starving to death. When you switch households, the warning is thrown up when vampires are about to die; instead of when they've walked onto the front porch, since the game has been making them play in the sun while I've been occupied on another household. So while I expect to click away this warning as yet another pointless EAxian reminder, I have to micromanage my vampire households. It's just a pain in the ass. It could have been a warning for imminent death, but it's pestering me every time they briefly go outside. I don't know when to ignore the warning or not because it doesn't throw up the warning when it's appropriate.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Zombie Stretch Armstrong Agent 47 Paperboy Discovered!
|

I noticed this rather emaciated looking fellow shambling towards my house. Turns out he's a zombie Stretch Armstrong pudding paperboy Agent 47. Shortly after this picture, he turned inside out and rode his bicycle away into the fourth dimension. My game crashed. So yeah. Obviously there's some resources from Supernatural in the game somewhere. Probably Showtime, but I'm not entirely sure since I have every EP and SP.

You should build an entirely new computer. Unless you want your computer to be a multitasking machine, don't get an i7, just get an i5. I found this out the hard way when I realised an i5 wasn't enough for my 600 tabs browser habits. GPU should be an AMD HD 6900 generation card or above if you have multiple monitors or are poor. Otherwise, get Nvidia GTX 560 or better for the improved support. Personally I prefer AMD since it's cheaper, it has better support for 3 monitors, and you can future proof it in a sense by getting an identical card in a few years time and crossfiring it. Work up to around 16GB of RAM gradually. This isn't as important if you start off with a reasonable number, it just helps. And obviously, a solid state drive will significantly reduce load times. Of course, I'm assuming that you don't want a Sims machine and you play other games. Failing that, at least the build will last you some. I was busy planning my New York/Los Angeles/New Jersey/San Diego/Brooklyn/Beverly Hills uber-city, and I got to a stage where I had to EIG to add some parks, apartments and subways.
I added a few apartments, saved successfully, exited, then when I tried opening the world in CAW, I kept getting "Unable to load file" errors. Then I tried opening the backups. Unable to load file. Then I tried opening my manual backups. Unable to load file. Unable to load file. Unable to load file. Unable to load file. Lost a SHITLOAD of urban planning. I've got the latest version of the game, and I have the Generations version of CAW (It's the only version that doesn't constantly tell me that my game needs to be updated, when it is, whenever I try starting it)
I have a feeling that as soon as I solve this problem somehow it'll come back again because of the sodding shovelware expansions and shitty updates every 5 minutes.

ITT: You can't get it to work? HURR DURR YOUR DOING IT WRONG LOL
Incidentally, I got it to work, but it looks like command prompt was sick all over the names and lots, and it seems to be a common issue. I'm sure it's possible for me to rename everyone-- or better yet, blast the shitty lots and sims from the neighbourhood and recycle the terrain. I still don't put it past the TS3 community to be doing anything correctly though.

That is what I searched. I didn't get any results for some reason. Tried "tv", "tv computer", "television", "television computer", "tattoo", "tattoo neck" and none of them turned up any results. Thankfully that other guy specified the name of the mod itself, and I found the tattoo mod in Google custom search. So, yeah. What is the name of the mod, precisely? Or better yet, link it? EDIT: DISREGARD THAT I SUCK COCKS Found it. I was looking in the mod section, not electronics. http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=440618Still can't find a mod for enabling TV channels on computers and laptops, though.

Anyone with the incompetence to not research SecuROM to begin with - in spite of all warnings - is just the kind of moron who will mash their head on the keyboard if you tell them to. At least they're rendered unable to use a computer from then on. It's like an Electronic Darwin Award. Don't get me wrong, it's not the people who simply don't know, it's the people who don't bother checking when they receive a warning.
I think this may a be a suitable end to this topic, I'm not sure if there's much more to say now.

I suggest you, and anyone else with this problem, first reduce your paging file to zero then defragment. When done, restart, then crank up your paging file as far as it will go, then see if the game works. It helps for me, and all I have is 2 gigs myself. But then again, I have an entire computer devoted to the Sims 2, so I'm probably not much help other than the performance increase I just told you. When in doubt, though, always scream SECUROM at the top of your lungs and mash your face on the keyboard until it goes away. The paging file thing i just told you is lifted from this page here: http://208.109.175.73/Windows_XP_Game_Optimization_Tips.htm

It ALWAYS resets on a new install. Go back and enable it again, and tell it to shut the fuck up on startup. That way you'll know if it's changed back.
