TS2: Burnination / The Podium / My sim child is a 'Speshul Snowflake', even without the snowflakes.
|

First time I've ever had this happen. A newly transitioned child (transitioned the night before), first day of school and he gets the 'Snow day' message. There's 2 days left of Autumn and it hasn't even snowed yet. (And yes, I'm still playing the Sims2, removed Sims3 months ago.) Day 73 of the Neighborhood, so I've gone through 2+ normal (as in all 4 Seasons) cycles. The batbox says the outside temp is -31 ((r11/r17/LUA 0/0/0) whatever that means). Both parents are heading to work so I'll have to wake up poor grandma and hopefully have her run the kid to school, unless there's a way I can force the game to cancel the Snow day and have the bus come. Only up to Seasons EP here so no 'walking to school' option. Edit: After more searching, I finally found a Post from Magicmoon about a Snow day her sims got in mid-summer. No reply on how/why it happened. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,9397.msg257033.html#msg257033

Check your anti-virus/spyware programs. If they're running actively in the background, they may be interfering by corrupting character data.
In my case, SpywareDoctor was causing corruption of character data, which was the cause of my disappearing infants during Save (your game automatically saves the home lot when you go to a community lot) and borked age transitions.
And Pescado is correct in that the spyware/anti-virus is causing a partial file-locking.

Let's see, almost every post you've made in this thread, was in relation to how PACKED your Hoods were, and that there is no more SPACE available. And then there was this little gem. ...As far as my "Default" Pleasantview, it's packed. As in so packed I can't fit anymore lots in it. (Using the camera mods, I have lots in places you'd normally not be able to place them.) Gotta be at least 40 or so lots, all of them inhabited. ... My only other course of action has been to create my own sub-hoods, but that's a pain in the ass, and I admit to being a lazy bastard, which is why I came up with the wild theory posted above. But if it won't work, I'll just have to knuckle up and just make new sub-hoods myself. (I have sims packed in Pleasantview, Downtown AND Bluewater and I STILL need more space. That should give you an idea of how many sims I have running around.)
Now DIPSHIT, you tell me, how should I have taken EVERY FUCKING THING you've said? -Edited to fix a Quote

Are you clicking on the Apt Life shortcut or the Deluxe shortcut. Otherwise, you phailed to explain your problem in a concise and clear manner and we have no idea what you're talking about. This isn't the place to be for how to do simple things. Go to MTS2's help section, and follow their easy-to-follow steps to make sure you installed it correctly. Help pl0x?
Oh, and stop it with that Fucking Net Speak.

... It's all of the default Maxis hoods joined by the mother of all time paradoxes...
I have a feeling you're idea of what the MegaHood is, is wrong. It's not some enormous Hood, with the land/lot space of all hoods combined. It's all of the sims from all of the Hoods combined into one normal Neighborhood. Unless I'm totally off on what it is. More sub-hoods does sound like the correct form of action here, by creating multiple subhoods in each category. I wouldn't do exact copies of Downtown and Bluewater (as one doesn't need multiple copies of some of the sims and/or houses placed), but there are several empty pre-made varieties to choose from or download other maps that modders have made.

In general, I don't understand why the game defaults the trash can by the mail box. ... In RL, I wouldn't want such an ugly thing right in front of my main entrance, but the sims don't seem to mind Thanks alot, now you've got me wondering and searchinig if anyone has done a mesh for a squarish Plastic trash Bin (or even a Recycle Bin) for TS2 (no longer playing TS3 here). Let's hope my google-fu isn't too rusty.

Toddler:
Boosted adult skills: The following max out at three; upon learning the skill later in life, the sim will automatically advance to level three. Handiness: Blocks on toddler table
Unless my mind has gone completely bonkers, Toddlers learn nothing on the toddler table. Child age will learn Handiness 3 (upon learning the skill later in life) using Blocks on toddler table. It's a handy way of having toddler/child socialize tho.

In TS2, I had no problems with going from house to house, playing my Spares/Multiple Famblys, yet I find myself without the strength to play my Spares is TS3. I know what the reason is, but it's humiliating to admit it. I find myself unwilling and/or unable to give up the 'fantasy' of believing what EAxis promised us with TS3. A living/breathing/evolving community around our 'One Fambly'. Until I can resolve that personal conflict, I'm unable to 'Switch Households'.
And yet, I'm also unwilling to give up AM and all of it's fantastic features. So I continue playing a hood until the point when tumbleweeds start blowing down Main Street. Then I scrape it and start all over again in a new hood.

Hur. The first thing I hated about triplets (of more I'll hate I'm sure) is that when mommy-dearest sat the basket of babbys down by the cribs, the basket immediately popped to the other side of the wall. Which just so happened to be outside, on the back side of the house. So there's dear game controlled mommy, slowly trudging all that distance, back and forth, putting infants in cribs. Bloody game!

My usual routine is Play With / Feed / Change Diaper, move on. For my Larvae's, it always seems like the Change Diaper need is slower than the Social/Food need. They'll be screaming their little heads off cause they're lonely and hungry, but not nearly dirty enough for a diaper change. I find I have to do the rounds again about an hour later to change diaper (at which point I go ahead and snuggle/feed again). Damn kids, Get Off My Lawn! And BTW, I must be insane. I just had my set of triplets (stoopid me went and gave both parents Fertility Treatments) and she's preggers again. Only room for 2 more (thankfully), unless old man gramps decides to kick the bucket in the next 3 days (which is possible, he's 101).

Once the Larvae are in toddler stage, stick a stuffed teddy bear in the crib with them. It seems that while they're sleeping, the teddy bear keeps them company and raises their social. This might only work once the toddler learns to talk tho, I have noticed that when i have my toddlers playing on the table together, if one doesn't know how to talk, no social gain (which is another way for them to gain social, have them play on the table/doll house together).

My problem is I couldn't select a house. The menu said $0 were available and I wasn't finding any way to change that.
Or am I doing something wrong here? I'm just not seeing where I have the ability to give the party moving out any money at all. It seems stuck on zero, so obviously I can't select a house.
I had 4 of the 5 move out via computer. Well when it comes up and I get the menu they get zero simoleans to take with them and I couldn't change this.
You had the solution earlier, tho I have the feeling that you didn't go far enough with it. When moving part of your household out via computer/cell phone, this gives you the option of 'BUYING' a house for the moving out sims with the cash you have in the original household. (Later on, the remaining sims can talk about 'Satellite House'.) And yes, once those sims move out, they'll have 0 cash to their name, but, if you can afford it, a really expensive/furnished home. If you're not looking to play that off-shoot house, they don't need the money, so screw em. If you do want to play them, then hopefully, you've given them all good jobs and stuck a bunch of books/rocks/gems/perfect harvestables in their inv, so they can sell it for ready cash. Also, be aware, that using this move out method, the house MUST have enough beds for all the sims (plus un-born sproglettes) that are moving out.

And to make matters worse, you were obviously messing around with the Tombstone of L&D (or one of those hidden 'testing' thingies) and turned on the 'break objects tester' (or whatever it's called). Or you downloaded a really bad hack. Lurk moar and do some searching, I've seen posts in TS2 pages that mention this.

or just rig the eternally-sleeping-nanny exploit.
I've never heard of that one before. How does it work? Unless I'm mistaken, it's: 1: Hire a nanny. 2: Romance the nanny. 3: Invite the nanny to relax in a bed with you. 4: Block the nanny's side of the bed so she can't get out. (I don't think you even have to woohoo the nanny so she's actually sleeping, but I could be wrong on this point). 5: Nanny stays in bed forever.

I don't know why people are rushing off and getting their sims jobs, anyway.
Because we're F's and we want those 32 little Gold Stars for getting all the Career LTW's. But seriously, it is true that the game was much easier if the Founder (and hopefully spouse) has a stay at home "NYAH NYAH NYAH" LTW to fulfill (for me, it was the Gardening one). They had enough money to fulfill all their needs on the home-lot plus pay for a 100k home before the first sproglette hit teen.

From my understanding, the Egg/Cheese - Steak/Patty - Omni Opportunities may not show up immediately after you've gained the requisite Gardening skills/pre-requisites. Those Opportunities are just thrown into the mix of possibles. So you may still get those special ones later on, once you've cleared out the current Opportunity.
