TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Seasons Impressions?
|
on: 2012 November 17, 17:42:21
|
So the game has been out a couple of days now and I'm curious what people think?
The changing seasons are certainly beautiful but I've seen a fair few combusting sims in summer and heard tell of fallen leaves still on the ground in spring. I bought a scarecrow with redeemed festival tickets but actually received the witch/gnome thing instead, so there does seem to be a few glitches or strange features. I've harvested honey but am not sure what to do with the beeswax, maybe it has alchemical uses, although the bees attack was quite hilarious. It seems odd that the festival is accessible every day of the season and not just the actual day off work/school. Oh and I have not seen an alien yet.
So what, in your opinion, has been done well or what needs work, or should never have been included in the first place?

As an update, I upgraded my graphics card from an ATI X1950 to an HD7550 and that seems to have solved the problem for me. My current card has more video RAM so I think that is what helped, although I would still see both cards as overkill for a sims game.

I was wondering about the AM jealousy too, as I'm pretty sure I haven't seen any in my game despite trying to mildly provoke it.
I'd quite like jealousy to kick in around the going steady level for the majority of sims, although it is logical that Commitment Issues only get jealous during marriage. I think of my Hopeless Romantics as stalkers and would like to see them get jealous as soon as they become love interests.

She is pregnant in the original Twinbrook. It appears to be the very beginning of the pregnancy. The father of the baby is Goodwin Goode. I just loaded up the Smith William Jones Brown family, immediately after installing and the daughter Jenni appears to be pregnant. She isn't visibly pregnant but the game won't let me editsim her due to pregnancy. Just a warning so others can falcon punch if required.
Oh, I never realised that. I think in all my previous Twinbrooks, I must have either not played her, or married her quickly to Goodwin myself.

Heh. Normally I don't really play this way but my male sim married Jamie Jolina in Sunset, and then I read somewhere that she is primed for an affair with the Wolff guy, so I thought I'd play it out. I'm finding it quite fascinating too!
Now the husband has left for work and the Wolff guy is able to be invited over, and he turns up.
I am running ASM so yes, I thought it was strange. I wasn't sure whether to post in the AM board. Also I wasn't sure whether AM changed the jealousy coding.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Cheating issues

I have a married flirty sim who has confessed attraction to some other guy. Her husband witnessed a few flirts and his status with the other guy immediately dropped to dislike, although it didn't affect his relationship with his wife. He then followed the guy around telling him to 'behave' all whilst his wife was attempting more flirts. Eventually I got her to ask the guy to leave. After he had gone, she had the option to 'confess attraction to 'some guy' to her husband. I got her to do this and they both experienced a very small drop in friendship.
The next day she hosted a party and among the guest was the guy and his wife. She has the party animal trait which states that all guests she invites will attend. All guests except the guy turn up, so I get her to ring him and invite him over. Initially he says he'll be over in a bit, then immediately afterwards there is another notification saying that something has come up and he can't make it. I get her to invite him another couple of times during the party and the same responses occur. All whilst he is sitting in the park reading the Commitment Issues book.
So my questions to anyone who has looked at sim behaviour during cheating are:-
Do flirty sims not care who they're flirting in front of?
When married partners see their spouse flirting with others, does it not affect their relationship?
Does anyone know why the guy won't come to the party. Is it because the wife confessed her attraction for him to her husband, or is there something else at play?

My save that I had been experiencing the Neverending Pause with, decided to refuse to load and CTD. After starting a new game, having freed up a lot of space on my C drive and not using the third speed, I have not experienced any Neverendings, so far.

As both myself and wizard pointed out earlier in the thread, we are unable to recreate the pause on a reload of the game. In fact I have deliberately played exactly the same way but no pause. Because it is impossible to recreate, the fixall and resetworld aren't really applicable. I tend to fixall every now and again during gameplay anyway but that doesn't seem to have much effect on the pauses.
Oh and I only play the EAxis hoods. I have been playing Twinbrook since the pauses increased in frequency, perhaps there are more pathing errors there than in Sunset or Riverview.

I do wonder whether the neverending pauses and the shorter pauses are related though. The pauses I get, last forever. I have left the game on for up to 12 hours and it is still the same, and I've never had shorter pauses. I have tried pausing but nothing registers, also can't get the cheat box up so fixall and resetworld can't help either. Also, as I only run AM, and store crap, I don't think that mine can be related to bad CC.
Edited to add - I'm trying to free up a lot more space on my C drive to see if that makes a difference too.

Perhaps my game is just going through a bad patch at the moment. It would be nice if I could go a couple of play sessions without the big freeze.
I am also able to restart straight away so perhaps I was a bit hasty on deciding that overheating is the problem. My pauses are likewise triggered by nothing in particular. I can play the game in exactly the same way a second time and not encounter the pause when it happened in the first game.
Memory seems like a more likely explanation from what you say. I will be interested to hear the results of your Velociraptor HD experiment. I'm pretty sure my HDDs are 7200rpm, but it was a couple of years since I put together my rig and my memory fails me.
I think your theory seems much more likely than mine, hopefully this thread can help get to the bottom of it, once and for all.

Ok, so I've just about had enough of this. Since installing AMB, I am getting those freezes, everything pause except flowers and trees swaying in the breeze, about every 20 minutes of gameplay. I have had them in previous EPs but not with this frequency.
I've read the two threads from a while back about these but there doesn't seem to be an indicator of why this happens. There isn't anyway to recover, and I have to task manager out of there.
My specs aren't too bad, I'm running an X1950 Pro, 2x 2.66 GHz, running XP so just under 4GB RAM. If I remember rightly my power supply is 550W. While not amazing specs they are far above the minimum. I'm wondering if my power supply could do with an upgrade, or maybe my processor. I just get the feeling that it comes down to overheating.
Anyone else experiencing this too?
Edit - Forgot to mention I'm running only AM and the only CC I have is decrapified store crap.

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AWESOMEMOD 4.0.87 (AMB) TEST THREAD

Following on from all the posts about switching families, I can use the switch active family button fine and select a family to play, it's just when I get to the 'Start playing with this household' tick that it greys out after clicking and won't go any further. This isn't an intermittent thing for me either, and it happens when starting a new hood too, so I am wondering whether this is different to the EAxis bug that has been mentioned as this has only happened to me since AM.
Edit - Hmm... after a reboot of the game, it seems to work again, so it appears to be an intermittent problem and probably not AM related.

Anyone else that's experiencing the EAxian quirk where the job tracker for Firefighters or Ghostbus- er, Ghost HUNTERS aren't showing up (I don't know if other jobs make use of the tracker), I figured out today that you can get it to show by pressing the "Show/Hide Job Tracker" button in the lower-left corner of your sim's Career tab. You may have to press it twice. Once to turn it "off", since the game thinks it's on, and the second time to really turn it on.
I assume the architect career is the same. Quote from Ambitions: What's borked thread here in the podium.

Are there 'evil' inventions, similar to the evil toys in OFB? I haven't heard it mentioned anywhere yet, but if there were, that might be your missing 12%.
Failing that, have you checked the gamplaydata file against the the inventions you've made?
