TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Homeless Challenge, TS3

I'm just going to poke my nose in here to say that there are two ways to move Sims onto lots, one will move them on to completely empty lots. I'm really tired and not thinking real well, but isn't it in Edit Town mode that they can't move onto an empty lot?
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. It's for Sims who are moving out, though. It gives you options for: move into another house, move onto empty lot, or kick out (make homeless). In my game, I can just edit a lot and it will stay available, regardless of whether or not I actually did anything. Or is it that I changed the designation from community to residential? >_> Honestly, I'm not sure what does it. But I'm pretty darn sure I don't have a bunch of fences or whatever just sitting around on random lots.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / White Store Content
|
on: 2010 February 18, 17:16:06
|
Okay, I did a lot of digging around and couldn't find anything exactly like this, so don't just tell me to search.
I un-installed and re-installed my game since the patching got messed up, patched, put all my stuffs back in, and went in my game. Everything works fine except some Store content in CAS is white. I had a little girl wearing a Store shirt and Store shoes, and she only had a head, hair, and whited-out pants. Odd thing is, the Store stuff does sort of show up, but choosing it borks up the Sim.
I figure there's an easy fix for this somewhere, but it's very weird...
Btw, I have Sims 3 and WA, not rarr'ed, and do not have HELS. The Store content in question is likely from MATY, though I do have some Store stuff gotten legitimately. I haven't checked to see if those are borked too.

Ah yes, the old poverty challenge. I loved that to no end in Sims 2. I will certainly have to do this! Although, if I do, it will be in my Berry Sweet neighborhood. That should be interesting. lol! Btw, can we post pictures here?

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / "Taste Nectar" Jump Bug - FIXED
|
on: 2010 January 01, 15:55:14
|
No idea what could be causing this, but I was basically wondering if anyone else has had this issue. It's not really bothering me enough yet to do any extensive testing.
Whenever I have my Sim taste nectar, as soon as they sit down and start drinking, they suddenly jump out of the action and their glass ends up in a random place on the floor of the lot. Same thing happened with guests. Fortunately, the glasses aren't stuck where they land and will disappear after a while. It may be that this is only an issue at the Nectary in France, as I haven't tested it at home yet.
Sound familiar to anybody?

Well, you can't get the icon picture any bigger, unfortunately, so you'd need to have a little photoshoot yourself. In that case, you really just wanna look at some tips on taking good pictures. Here's some basics:
1) Camera Man Mode - This is a must in taking good shots! You will have to be in live mode to do this, but just hit "TAB" to enter this mode. Once you are in this mode, you can use the mouse to freely control the angles and use "W, A, S, D" buttons to move forward, backwards, and side to side. "Z" zooms in, "X" zooms out. "Q" moves up and "E" moves down. "C" to capture the shot.
2) Find the perfect angle - With photography, it is all about finding the right angle. Spend some time in camera man mode to find the perfect angle. Get down to a sim's point of view to take the best shots of rooms.
3) Walls up - Most people play with walls cut away, but when you are taking pictures of your lot, try to keep your walls up to make your shots look more realistic.
4) No grids - Unless you need to show the grid for a specific purpose, make sure no build/buy grid is visible when you take your pictures. You can avoid this by taking pictures in live mode or by hitting the terrain paint button in build mode.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / France Won't Load (But China Will?)
|
on: 2009 December 29, 02:29:35
|
Okay, so I got WA all updated and fixed and working nicely, and then I decided to go on vacation. I wanted to go to France first, but it wouldn't load. It would just sit there at the loading screen not doing anything. The tips wouldn't even cycle, but the music kept going just fine. So I forced quit and restarted, this time going to China. Had a nice, unborked vacation in China. Came back home, and now I want to go check out France. Same non-loading issue happens. This time, I wasn't actually traveling there, I just clicked on the little icon in the Edit Town screen so I could take a look at it. So it seems to be a France thing. What's up with this?

Okay, I figured it out, and now I feel really stupid. Turns out I had a 2nd AM package in my main Mods folder (instead of in the Hacks where I usually put it) which was obviously causing the problem. Took it out; everything's working perfectly. I won't be letting my sister install stuff again, that's for sure...

Hmm. I took out the DC cache and backup folders and turned CC off, then started it up to see if that would work, and it did no good. If it were a problem with a borked pack file, shouldn't the game work okay with CC off and the sims3packs out?

Yes, I got your meaning. Well, I guess this is as good a time as any, even if that isn't the problem. I knew it was only a matter of time before something got messed up and I had to actually reorganize everything. It's just such a pain to do it. If I still have this problem after I re-install everything, I'll post. Obviously.

My guess is that the failed Sims3pack installation corrupted a file, and now you have to wipe out your userdirectory and reinstall all your crap.
O_O They didn't install, they just tried to but didn't. o.O Are you serious? How does that happen?? My userdirectory, meaning the folder of stuff inside My Documents? O_O Agh, that's just as bad as a reinstall!! Well, I guess I should go try to find all my 3pack CC again so I can re-install it after the wipe... *sigh*

I took out the userpresets file as I heard suggested somewhere and tried again; same thing happened. So I figured I should post the exception file, just for good measure? Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / CTD a.k.a. I Are Fail - FIXED
|
on: 2009 December 22, 03:02:58
|
Okay, so I went ahead and patched to version 1.8 (I do NOT have WA) since I wanted to use CAW. CAW works fine, but now I can't play my game. I did download the new test version of AM, pulled out all my other hacks, and cleared the cache files. I start up my game, pass the intro movie, and start loading. About 3/4 to almost done loading the bar, it simply crashes to desktop. No errors, no nothing, just poof! I'm back at the desktop. From what I can tell, it is either due to CC or just a patch/AM issue. But here's a curious thing: right after I updated everything, I tried to install some Sim3packs with the launcher, and they wouldn't install. Usually that only happens if the pack is messed up and it hasn't happened to me in quite some time. I thought I'd just have to redownload the files, but then I got that CTD issue, so I wonder if it isn't somehow related? But what in the world would do that? Edit: Apparently, I are utter FAIL! I found a second AM file in my Mods folder. I removed it, and everything is fine again. Note to self: Don't have your little sister install an AM update, even if you do talk her through it step-by-step.
