I have a flashing green number up in the left corner. It flashes 0, 8, 16, 24, 25 over and over again. WTF?
It appears about every 70% of the time when loading a game. Just press F10, to remove it. It is a function of the fpslimiter. As far as the framerate overlay goes, I've found that I get it every single time and it annoys me, as I can't see what the leftmost item is in a sim's queue, but I've found that if I fire up the 3booter, then tab to something else (firefox, just because I always have it open), the overlay is consistently attached to firefox instead and I can sim in peace. Just in case you start getting it consistently like I do and would like a workaround. Why not just turn off the FPS display? I guess the FPS display you are refering to, is the Sims one. That, appears on the right of the screen not the left. The one shown above is from the fpslimiter used in conjuctiom with 3booter. Edit: Sorry Madame Mim. It was posted late at night - not really an excuse, but not intentional.

Best thing about a PC over a Mac. You can upgrade it whenever you need to.
Mine is about 10 years old (well the case and FD and CD drives) and currently runs XP, (I did not upgrade to a more recent OS - so I can stilll play older games etc.). But I change parts when needed, Motherboard, Graphics card etc.
I have no problems with the Sims 3 game or its add-ons.
If I need a better Graphics Card or more memory, no problem.
Can you do this with a Mac. ?

Strange!
I have been using CCleaner for a long time (running it, usually every couple of weeks or so) - with no problems. In fact I downloaded an update today and ran it. I later reloaded the system, also with no problems.
Maybe it is a conflict with CCleaner and a particular Aniti-Virus program. What AVs are you using. Also, are they up to date.
Mine, (PCguard) is specific to a cable company in the UK. It updates automatically every few hours - if necessary.

Enable12Woohoo
Disables hardcoded check against 12-woohoo. Does not actually enable it without additional XML hacks not included here.
Where can i download this needed XML hacks ?
i searched all over internet on google i write sims 3 XML hacks but i find just the toturials
Keep searching and you will find. Well, you will find the site where they will be hosted. Twoftmama is still working on them as there are lots of files to check. So it gives you time to SEARCH MOAR.

Sometimes you can go into a store, say what you want your computer for, and they'll fix you up with one.
ANSWER:
I would be very, very careful about this. It's not a good idea to go out computer shopping and depend solely on a retailer for advice unless it's someone you trust, and never do it at a big box retailer. They may or may not know what they are talking about, and a lot of employees will gladly take advantage of a customer in order to make a sale, especially if there's commission involved.
This is very true in the UK. The big chains are useless, they will deliberately lie - to get a sale. Proved on TV watchdog programs. They do not employ people with computer skills, just anybody who wants a job. Try to return the product and get a refund because of misleading sales tactics, may result in a long and costly legal battle. They know this and can afford it, they also know the average person can not. So, go to the small independant shops, they rely on goodwill and repeat business. It is probably the same in other countries.

As we are all Awesome addicts and we cannot obviously go a day without it, it would certainly save a lot of unwanted threads if there was a link to the testing version in the main AM release sticky. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/Does hitting the thanks button actually notify a person that you've thanked them? Or does it just taunt you with the "Baa"? Because while I *had* bookmarked it, I was too stupid to remember I had. So this was helpful, thanks. Why don't you tell us? Baa.

Is there actually a very good reason for that? Sorry for my idiocy, but could I actually get in trouble for linking people to that? There is a very good reason. If the decrappify program needs to be updated! for what ever reason (i.e. ongoing development.) It is unlikely that files put through a previous version would work - even after being decrappified again. You would need the base file. Noobs, who had used a decrapped file, would then flood the forums with lots of whinny posts - "I'm a noob, please help me etc. Awesome does not work etc." So do not post links to decrapped files. EDIT: If you had searched MOAR you would know this.

Well, I DO have AMB. I had WA before, but I had to uninstall it because of A STUPID LAUNCHER BUG (this was before I knew about MATY and MTS and how the launcher is evil), and I was unable to reinstall it.
Well it's a good thing you have to reinstall TS3 again, so install WA and stop bleating about it. For that matter, just follow your avatar and STFU. Simulate, mocks Vermillionagain.

Using your link, I get "OOPs - page not found" I searched yesterday and today (8 hours ago) on the EA sites (US and UK). Not a mention of a new patch. I am in UK, maybe it is only currently available to US. Just guessing. EDIT. That is the case. I changed my language from "English - UK" to "English US" and your link worked. Guess you US guys and gals are the beta testers. Have fun. If I remember correctly, US is region 1 and UK+ is region 2. Although that became a bit obscure with the release of Ambitions.

I'd like to see a random dressing mod for Sims with more than one Everyday outfit, so the Sim would randomly change into one of his or her presets when getting dressed, rather than the same outfit every single time. For some reason, I got the idea that this was already the case when I was reading about the laundry system, and ended up sorely disappointed.
Incase you have not yet found a dressing mod, Twallan created one about a month after you made this post. It is called the Dresser and can be found at the TSCExchange. Edit: Moryrie has actually included a link to the site in the previous post.

Actually, with the old method, some mods work, others don't. Awesomemod works fine, but most of the script mods and custom content (hair, clothes, etc.) had no effect on my game after the update to 1.12 until I finally gave in and switched to the new method. Some stuff works will the old method, but as far as I can tell, all stuff works with the new method.
This is just my personal experience. Other people might have different results.
Wrong. Most mods do work using the old method, after the 1.12/1.14 patches (including script mods). A few needed updating but now work fine. As for CC - I dont use it to many bad designers out there.

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeStory not producing any babies?

Based on your last post. RE: cribs. In the UK, many years ago (15+) there was a commedy called "2.5 children", based on the average increase in population: Plus half a chiild per couple. Would it be possible to build such a check into the game. So that: pregnancies, babies and young children, could be checked against the number of elders. With a plus 0.5 weighting for more pregnacies. Also a check would need to be kept on the number of teens, YA and adults. Incase of premature deaths etc. Obviously, the extra CPU processing needed would have to be considered, for those with less powerfull PC.s. Just a thought.

Noooo! Please don't change how sims need a crib in order to breed. I deliberately plan my crib distribution to make areas of the hood where there are large families, and other areas that are quieter and just have childless couples or a couple of kids.
Rather than completely change the way births are controled, Pescado could put an option in the configuration file. Cribs required? enabled/disabled. This would allow the game to have the current method available and a version that did not need cribs. Both parties to the discussion on cribs (for or against), should then be happy. This would however require more coding on Pescado's part, as he would need to put checks in the game to decide which block of code to process and add any additional code. He may not want to do this. Although, as I support the "No cribs lobby" I hope he does.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: Does anyone want to try some DIRT ROAD REPLACEMENTS?
|
on: 2009 December 05, 00:14:07
|
Despite necromancy being bad. I like the dirt roads, but could you produce a version where the paths are the same pattern as the roads. So that it looks just like a dirt road with no path. That would be awesome. I just keep running into one problem with them. I need these for one town, and a different set for another, and I'm always forgetting to switch them out between playing. If you still have this problem and are OK with navigating in "My Documents" and creating text files and shortcuts etc. I can show you how to make a couple or more batch files to do that. You then just click on the relevant Icon on your desktop and the correct road type appears.

Your screenshot shows 3Booter.exe with a date of July. The date should be November. You either haven't downloaded correctly, or you haven't replaced correctly. Okay. I found out the problem. Google Chrome consistently downloads the old July version. Downloading from the same place in Firefox downloads the Nov. 25th version. And yes, I was downloading the versions from the first two posts in this thread. Just in case anyone else also using Chrome was having that problem. I can't imagine why it would be doing that however. I have this info on my desktop in a file. I think I got it from the official Sims 3 site. ....... Let's start with clearing your browser cache and Temp files. Here's how to clear the browser cache: Internet Explorer 8 1. From the Safety menu, click Delete Browsing History... . 2. Check Temporary Internet files and History, and then click Delete. Internet Explorer 7 1. From the Tools menu, select Internet Options... . 2. Choose the General tab. 3. Under Browsing history, click Delete... . 4. Next to "Temporary Internet Files", click Delete files... . 5. Click Close, and then click OK to exit. Firefox 3 for Windows From the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data, and then check Cache. Click Clear Private Data Now. Safari 1. From the Safari menu, select Empty Cache... . 2. When prompted, click Empty to confirm that you want to empty the cache. Firefox 3 for Mac OS X 1. In Firefox, from the Tools menu, select Clear Private Data. 2. Make sure Cache is checked, and then click Clear Private Data Now. For your Temp folder, navigate to your hard drive, then the Windows folder. You should have a Temp folder inside the Windows folder; double-click on it, then hit Ctrl-A to select all, then Delete. ........ That may be the way to solve the problem, if others encounter it.

There are 4 cache files located in My Documents ...The Sims 3. To avoid problems they should be deleted whenever you add a new or changed mod to your game.
The easiest way to do this is to create a batch program file n your Desktop. I have created one that also runs 3booter.
Follow these instructions if you want to do the same:
IMPORTANT NOTE.
This version is for Windows XP only and uses the C drive.
If you have a different operating system or use a different drive, change the TWO lines that start with "cd" accordingly.
1. Update 3booter and fpslimit as per Pescado's instructions.
2. Right click on your Desktop, select New and Text Document.
3. Double click on the "New Text Document.txt" icon that has been created and copy the following in to the text file:
cd "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\" del scriptCache.package del simCompositorCache.package del compositorCache.package del CASPartCache.package cd "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\" 3Booter.exe exit
4. Select File and Save As. Replace the filename with: "Sims 3 WA.bat" and Save.
5. Select File and Exit or click on the X.
Now to clear your caches and run 3booter, just double click the "Sims 3 WA.bat" icon on your Desktop. Look for the icon that shows a cog wheel in a window.
Warning DO NOT attempt this if you are unsure of what you are doing. No refunds are given.
