Deleting makeup and such in CAS was disabled in one of the latest expansions, (Freetime maybe?).

Did you add the sim to the downloads folder, or to the saved sims folder?  Unless it was to the downloads folder, I don't believe it's considered custom content and so will not bring up the dialog.

I can't comment on the dog fur, as I don't use them.

Honestly?  The picture of the sim you downloaded may have been photoshopped to looked better than it really is.  I've downloaded hundreds of sims, and probably 60% of them do not look like they do on the websites.  And that's probably a low estimate.

Your system specs may also be different from the persons who made the sim, and therefore your system may render the sim differently then theirs.

There are many reasons it may not look the same, and there is probably not a thing you can do.  I just delete them and look for the next one and hope it's better.

Sims you download will only show up in CAS (Create a Sim) area.  You have to create a family yourself and choose a premade sim from here.  They do not show up in the Sims bin on the main screen.

I had a similar problem several EPs back and it was my power supply.  Make sure it's sufficient to run everything you have.  Could be something worth checking anyway.

If you press delete the sim WILL disappear.  You then save and exit and when you return he will be standing by the mailbox.  Unless of course something is completely borked, in which case he may disappear altogether and never return.

I have read the entire thread (over the last few months not all at once) and can't remember if this was mentioned.

The EA ladder and diving board for the pool no longer work for me.  I can use CC replacements, but the sims are not able to get into the pool with the EA ones.  Anyone else notice this?

I think I read something in the CEP thread that said it was a problem with the new CEP and the ability to recolour it that caused the problem, but only with snow.

Yes, I checked and others have reported the problem as well.

I had the same problem except with a child.  Unfortunately I can't tell you why it stopped, only that it did.  I kept updating my hacks and one day it didn't happen any more.

So really,I'm not very helpful.  But now you know you're not alone.

It may be something else conflicting with it.  I used Jordi's and played a family for 6 hrs yesterday with no problems.  2 women 1 man and 8 kids under 5 with a dog.

Call Friend and Call Family only show up when you click on the Sim, not on the phone.  Can't help with the rest, sorry.

Edit:  Could there be something keeping the sim from reaching the phone?  If it's blocked by something it will fall out of the cue

I think the "Call Friends" and "Call Family" options are only available if you click on the Sim, not on the phone.  As to why the phone won't allow outgoing phone calls, I have no clue.  Sorry.

You could also try googling SeeThem which is a little program that does several things including what you need.

I can reassure you  on one point:  the patch will not help with your problem as I have patched my game VERY carefully and have exactly the same problem you do at the moment.  Wish I could help more.

I think it's probably bad form to toot my own horn, so to speak, but B just confirmed they use the pool ladder animations to get to swimable depth in the ocean.

All fixed.  I didn't break anything while changing it but had to have help putting is back in as it kept pulling away from the screws.  I managed to get The Sims installed and played for a bit without any problems.

Thanks Hegelian, I used your specs when shopping and think I got one that won't make things worse at least.  Not cheap, not expensive and has the ability to use either 20 or 24 pin connector.  So all I have to do now is get over my fear of simple tools and put it in.  Not a Dell thankfully but I've never look closely at my case and PS so that's the next step I suppose. 

I completely wish I lived where you do.  Last time I went to my local repair guy it cost me almost $200 to have him tell me that Windoze was corrupted and to reinstall it.  This time I have to go the DIY way or I won't be able to feed my family.  What a difference a few months makes eh?

Thank you all.  I was looking last night online for a power supply and had no idea what to look for.  Your advice will be very helpful in making the ultimate choice.

@Hegelian:  I had been thinking along those lines, so I'm glad to have my musings confirmed.   I checked the things I could see easily and they don't appear loose, but I read the side of the power supply and it appears to only be 150W.  I'm guessing that is in the pathetic range, it came with the case and I don't even know if it can be removed.  I'll actually take a better look tomorrow since even with the light from the ceiling light its very dim in here at night.

@KatEnigma:  When the hard drive was replaced my tech (read Dad) blew it out with his compressor so dust may have been a problem before, but can no longer take the blame.  I have two fans, one larger than the other but they may still be inadequate.  I usually run with the case closed, but have not put the side back on since new hard drive just because it is still acting so odd.

Since the hardrive and Windows XP installation are new (within 24 hours) I'm hoping those of you in the know (which emphatically does not include me) could help me.  My computer is 4 years old so I'm not even sure what I put in it, but the motherboard and graphics card are Nvidia (nforce 2 and geforce fx 5200 respectively). AMD 4something chip.

Problem is this:  restarting Windows is random, I can be on the internet for hours, but try to install Sims and it resets.  Also restarted when copying files from old hard drive to new one.  This problem started when I came back from two week holiday and computer refused to start at all.  I turned off the power supply and turned it back on and it started, but hours later restarted and windows claimed missing file.  I tried to repair using installation disk but computer constantly restarted in the middle of installation (a total of 18 times before I gave up).  New drive allows windows to work but still restarts at inopportune times.

I could install Norton Systemworks, but the Sims will not install, it keeps restarting.  I have limited funds and fear a hardware problem.  Any help with either how to diagnose the problem or educated guesses as to the problem component would be greatfully acknowledged.
