1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Since Patching... on: 2012 August 02, 00:41:34
Since I added the new patch and updated AM, I keep getting these stupid balloon messages about every dumb townie action, like "Jimmy now works in Culinary!" and "Susie met Alex!" etc etc. It's extremely annoying and I was hoping one of you fine people know how to turn this inane babble off. I checked the AM Configure tool, but there doesn't seem to be any option in there for it...

I did a search and could not find an answer for this. I blew it and accidently said no instead of later for the new store patch. Now I want to do the patch and I cannot find it anywhere to download and install manually. EA just says use the download section but of course it is not there as I said no. And EA lists non store patches and sites like SimsPrograms, but so far I have not found a way to get that store patch now.

Is there some way I can get the launcher/game to get it or some place that I can download it?

Quote
I had to open the launcher from in game to get it to appear.

Same problem, but when I use the launcher and get the prompt, I install, it says all systems go, so I shut game off and try to download some new store junk only for it to say I need the patch. I could do this an infinite amount of times and get the same response. Any thoughts?

This was way in the beginning of the game and the mod, don't recall seeing that. I might have not been paying attention at the time though, don't really remember anymore.

I had it turned on once (briefly) and was actually playing a cop at the time. He starts making conversation with a female so I just que'd as many convo options up as I could so he wouldn't be "boring". However, with the fat/thin settings it's damn hard to tell who is what age compared with S2 where the teens look like pogo sticks, so in rushes a cop after he did nothing more than tell her she looked nice, cuffs him and hauls him off. He loses his job with no way of getting it back, and ended up in the criminal career branch as no one else would hire him besides the greasy spoon. Honestly I had to laugh, and I've never turned that option on again because one wrong move and it's all over...Pescado did a good job of covering all bases.

Sorry 'bout that, been ages since I even bothered with this game, only bought the expansions a couple weeks ago as I'd forgotten what a nightmare it can be to run. I see now what you mean by save game files.

Anyhow, I reckon the problem is actually Appaloosa Hills or whatever. It became unbearable to even play test in, as it grinds to a halt every 10 sim minutes, so I switched over to Starlight City (?) which is a clean slate, and wouldn't you know it, runs fine with AM. I have no idea why and I'm too annoyed to care, but I thank you for the offer of help. I'm sure I'll be back when the new town crashes and burns...or I'll throw all my discs in the trash and vow never to play again.

As much as I hate to be this guy, I'm at the end of the road here. With my current family, I get the crash after about 2 Sims days. Switched to random townie while the purge began. I have done everything in the crash check list, ran every Twallan and Delphy mod, same result. I've even done some of the more obscure voodoo methods to fix the issue. It all comes down to AM.
Sim day starts late Weds. night, crash by Friday. I'm up to date in all patches and AM package. So, I ran the game with AM out, no crash. But of course without AM mods, the game is unbearable in it's own right and useless to me as a tool of fun. And here I sit for 2 weeks on workers comp. and nothing to do with my useless injured time...any thoughts?

I have this problem every time I use a new hood or move one of the holes around. Do the kids go to school? Mine never would, as the location is also used for art or whatever lesson. I never did come up with a solution, but eventually everything just seemed to re-set itself only after half the neighborhood was full of derelict drop-out youth.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Technical Issue on: 2010 January 16, 20:30:48
The old stand-by method for such things (and it's a pretty lousy one, but may work) is to uninstall all Direct-X components, then grab them again, perhaps starting with 9 then again to 11, if possible, while rebooting between each upgrade. I'm rather stuck in Windows XP mentality though and a lot of the tricks don't work with Vista...
10  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Great. No WA and no Sims 3. on: 2010 January 08, 21:56:47
Are you using a Nvida card?

If so, the newest drivers caused my game to do that as well.  After rolling back to the previous driver release, all was well and I could play again.

The problem with this is, myself and others (for some reason) get the blue screen of death and auto re-boot system when the driver is out of date. There is no option but to keep the latest model installed.

Haha, that flamingo must have looked hilarious. Anyhow, thanks for the quick reply. I think I might leave her as she is, she's a dumbar roomie I care nothing for, so I'll just pretend she's crazy or something, make a story line out of it...
12  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Funny but Baffling on: 2010 January 05, 21:38:32
Sims 3 has pissed me off to no end, so I broke down and bought Apartment Life to give me something new to play with. Trying out the room mate option, and one day, just because, she wakes up out of bed with a pterodactyl on her head. I have never even seen this object in buy mode, vacation stories or anything else, but there it is. Making her selectable, changing image etc. does not get rid of this inexplicable eyesore. I guess it's not a huge problem, maybe resetSim would fix it, but damn if it isn't just bloody bizarre...

13  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So you married a famous sim...why can't you stay in bed? on: 2009 December 07, 22:19:40
Pretty much all of my musical Sims, since day 1, have had the uncanny ability to hear and groove to mystical tunes at all times, day/night/in the bathroom/death vault/whatever. They can sleep through this psychic barrage themselves, but no one else can ever stand to share a bed with them as they ooze noise through their very pores. Hence, musical careers have been blitzed since the advent of Sims 3, at least for me anyhow...
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Floating Sim....WTF!!! on: 2009 November 28, 21:03:09
I had a sim (quite awhile back) do that. He couldn't go home or anything, had to quit out. I don't think yours is supposed to do that either.
15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: WA outside lighting issue on: 2009 November 21, 19:23:02
The base game had wonky outdoor lighting too before any patches were offered, basically they did nothing at all. I wonder why something as simple as lighting is such an issue in this game?
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Variable Crashes on: 2009 November 05, 18:44:14
My game chugs like mad now, even in a new, freshly built town with only a few people in it. A lot of stopping/starting, and when they walk they sort of drag along the ground like Tinkerbell fairies. Also the speed is super slow, like it used to be before the last patch when ultra-fast was the same as daytime speeds. Making me nuts, I've resigned myself to just building to get my fix and not even bothering with the characters...
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Hatchet Falls Lots and Updates on: 2009 October 23, 16:05:42
Yeah, I deleted the 'WorldCache'. Just seems that there is some element that is refusing the replace/replicate itself. Could just be me though, but figured I'd mention it in case someone else has come across such a problem. Sorry, it's not your town at all (which is lovely) so I didn't mean to hijack. Took me awhile to realize it.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Plots / Re: Hatchet Falls Lots and Updates on: 2009 October 20, 18:58:52
FYI-turns out all my towns are now without learnin', and there appears to be no fixing it at this point. At MTS3 help they are comparing the issue to what happens to Mac users when they delete cache files. I even uninstalled your town (as it was the newest) and replaced it to no avail. Prolly not the right place for this discussion, but since we're on about it anyway, may as well warn about what I reckon to be the 'WorldsCache' files being the one not to mess with in the future...
19  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Kids won't go to school, many a sad panda... on: 2009 October 16, 03:27:03
I had this in the "Hatchet Falls" thread, but receiving no reply I wandered over here to give my problem a whirl...

*cut and paste*

I have a question that perhaps you can help me with, perhaps not...

I've been running Hatchet for a couple of weeks, all is well, then I went a bit "delete the cache" crazy and some of the community lots disappeared. I get them back in order, all except for the school. They can take art classes, so it's not bad placement, but none of the kids will attend class. The bus shows up and they just default back to their old spots, so now my entire town is full of derelict stupid children. I added a second school just in case it was the lot that was buggered, but no luck there either. Any idea what I did wrong or how I can fix it? Thanks....

Since we're on the topic, what is the best method to have a family stay put rather than be moved around (and not make sacred)? Having the same amount of cash as the house is worth? More, less...?
