Thanks ... just caught your edit now.  I had d/l'd the first version, not the "test" version, so maybe that's why I'm having problems.  Everything else checks out, so now this will give me something else to try.  I appreciate it.  EA's game "out of the box" lacks so much ... it's really awful.  I sure hope I can get AM working so I can enjoy the game again.

At this point, I'm willing to consider anything.  I do have the resource.cfg file in the "Files" directory, so I'll update it, as well.  I probably have the Files/Resource.cfg in both the Sims 3 and the WA directories, and I'll try updating both of them.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'll try that now.

EDIT: OK, tried it.  Unfortunately I still get the unknown command error when I try to show the configuration. It simply refuses to acknowledge that I have AM.  I think tomorrow I might try starting fresh on one of my other computers. Maybe I can figure something out.  Thanks.

I edited the resource file according to coconnor's instructions, although I'm not sure if that needed to be done or not.  In the Sims 3 directory, my package directory has different sub-directories/folders (although they're empty).  The WA package directory has no sub-directories.

Here's how my resource.cfg file looks:

Priority 500
DirectoryFiles  Mods/Files/... autoupdate
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package

I've previously used Awesome Mod, love it, no problems.  Then, I quit playing Sims 3.  Now, someone gave me World Adventures, so I'm trying to play again.  I deleted all my mods before installing WA, and the game is loading and playing -- finally.  It's patched and updated, so it's now Version 2.3.33.003001.

I downloaded the latest AM and a new config file, but so far, I haven't been able to get it to work.  After a lot of crashes on loading, I started reading messages here and have been working my way through the problems.  I printed out and followed the steps from coconnor (very helpful) and now the game loads, and all appears well ... except "showconfig" results in "unknown command showconfig".  The game apparently will not recognize AM, so I'm obviously doing something wrong.

I have AM and the config file installed in WA/Mods/Packages.  I have the resource.cfg file in WA (not in Mods).  The .dll file is in both Game/Bin folders.  I also re-installed the framework files before doing anything else.

At this point, I've tried everything little old un-awesome me knows to try.  I came back, searched the boards a little more, but I haven't yet found a solution.  I'm hoping maybe some awesome player out there can help me get my game to recognize this Awesome Mod!  I really don't want to play without it.

Purely coincidence, I think. If you want to see my wrath, type "Trogdorstrikesagain".

Uh, OK if I pass on that one?  Undecided

I have one fine, upstanding police officer sim whom I noticed spending a little too much time chatting with the teen babysitter (after his wife went upstairs to bed.)  I thought it might make an interesting storyline to give him the Pedophile trait.

So today I wanted to play around with the traits to see what would happen.  I created a flirty little teen and gave her the Pedobait trait, and then made a creepy adult Pedophile for a roomie.

They were flirting around -- while she was attempting to cook dinner.  Flames erupted everywhere!  The fire spread through the house while these hysterical sims danced around.  I had them call for firefighters ... over and over and over.  Neighbors showed up, and one even brought a fire extinguisher, and eventually my dancing sims followed my commands and put out the fire.

But, I'm wondering.  Was this purely a coincidence that the fire department never showed up?  Or is this the wrath of Pescado for enabling pedophilia in my game!

You perhaps (hopefully) already found it, but this thread is a good place to start.

Or you could wait for the Awesomemod update with Awesome Story Mode due out very soon.

An Awesomemod update with Awesome Story Mode?  Now, that sounds truly Awesome!

So far, nothing I tried from the thread worked, but I found one family who still had a friendship with the homeless family.  I invited the father over, had him move in with his whole family, and seriously borked my game  LOL.  When I tried to move the "new" family into a house, they took all the old family's furniture and money, and for a while, it was a mess.

After a restart everything seems fine except that I have one very poor family.  I'm blaming it on their poor investment strategies, and in time, they'll recover.  But I'm not going to make any further attempts at bringing back any homeless families.

You didn't search properly. Took me 5secs to find the information.

Don't do half arsed work and expect someone here to do it for you.

The wolves will eat you next time.

Thanks for the assistance.  It's appreciated.  Obviously I didn't search correctly.  Not that I was expecting anyone to do my work for me.  I just thought some knowledgeable simmer might be willing to help me out.  My bad, eh?

Thanks again.

Did you try searching this topic before starting a new thread? There's plenty of information on this, if you'd bother to look for it.

Yes, thanks, I did.  I wasn't finding what I was looking for.  Can you guide me?

A family I'd like to play is listed in the homeless population.  Is there a way to get them into a house where I can control them?  I'm using the newest AM with the IS mod, and I do have the latest EA update installed.
