Just an FYI for those of you trying to use older versions of AM:

If you aren't willing to patch your Sims 3 copy, and instead try to use it unpatched with an older version of AwesomeMod, don't bother posting with any problems in the meantime on these forums.  Nothing Pescado hates more than bug reports and requests for help from people using outdated versions.  The latest copy of AM seems to work fine with all my savegames, both AM enabled ones and not.  Perhaps you should clean your old savegame of any AM elements first (with the new patch installed), and then install the new AM.

Or, you could try and help Pes find out where problems in AM are coming from (which is the whole point of him time-bombing copies).  AM is actually still a beta, and as such we're unofficially expected to help when we find problems by reporting bugs.

Many people, myself included, are simply waiting and researching the patch before we install it. This is not an uncommon approach.

Is the new version of Awesomemod backwards compatible for not-yet-patched games?  Or is it even useful for people who haven't updated to use the new one?
Well, doing so makes you running the Unholy Hybrid, but in THEORY, it shouldn't blow up.

I was actually going to ask the same question. I just installed the newest version of AM, and I get through the initial loading screen fine, but get an immediate soft crash when going to load the saved game. I have NOT installed the latest sims3 patch yet.

I am having the EXACT same issue. I am guessing that the new Awesome blows up un-patched games, as J. M. said.  Shocked

Does anyone have a previous version of Awesome that they would be willing to upload to us peasants?

I backed up the previous release I was running from 7-23, I can email it if you like

I encountered the same problem... and didn't back up the old version of awesomemod. Can you email me a copy, too? I am going to send you an email now. Thanks!

I'll try it again on my machine. Perhaps it's only when I have eight Sims living in the house. The game I sent was after the Sim I wanted moved out was moved (I played again after I moved her out and saved). I moved her out via the split household from the neighborhood as someone suggested earlier.

I haven't updated AM yet... was actually on my way over here to check for an update. I've been having hanging issues with moving out sims even with households of 8 or less members total.

Marhis, thanks for that, that's one code I wasn't aware of!

Although I too tend to be a legacy player and free money hater Tongue ...but free real estate in a pinch is good to have.

Damsel, yeah I only use the phones for relationship maintenance. They do build the relationship, but slowly.
Also, removing mods, moving out, replacing mods, that's not a BAD solution; I could see not wanting to do that all the time, though. You'll have to PM me what mods you use. I'm just curious, it sounds like we play similar games  Cool

Sweet, I've done my good deed for the day, now I can revert to being evil  Cool

Yeah, not a game-stopping issue, just annoying. Since they can't be kicked out via splitting, make sure there's enough household funds for the ones you split to buy a house, assuming you intend to place them elsewhere in the neighborhood for your legacy storyline.

Yes, this was an issue for me yesterday a few times, and I just added Indie on Sunday.
They can still be moved by splitting from the map view, though.

Oh, and yes my AM is also set to work with Indie, that is enabled by default. I also have the correct Indie mod file, and both mods are working in my game. The only 2 issues I've had thus far are this move-out save hanging and another error already posted about in another thread.

I just got this, too. nbd, was able to save and keep playing. No books in inventory, no plates, no one was reading. They just had fish caught from the pond in their inventory, and some harvested fruits. Most of the sims on the lot were fishing from the pond. One was playing guitar. One was interacting with a toddler.

Thanks for the quick response Smiley

I can't get 'droptrait Technophobe' to work... tried it with lowercase, tried some possible incorrect spellings...
12  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: "Old Car Syndrome" crash FIX!!!! on: 2009 July 16, 23:02:49
my game stopped the loadup crashes recently - I saw someone else say something about defragmentation, and I did recently defrag, around the time that I noticed I was no longer getting crashes.
but, sometime around that same time, i also downloaded and installed a config file tailoring awesomemod (didn't update the awesomemod file itself).
either way, I'm happy. no more loading crashes. at least, not in several days.

::goes away to see if teens can sleep in the same bed yet::

I'm not sure if this has happen to anyone else but
I tried to save my game last night and it would spun for about a minute or two and give me an
error telling me to read the readme file and tried to save it again and the game crashed.
I then loaded up sims 3 again a saw that my saved file had now become corrupted.
What the hell happen?

I have exactly the same problem!

was it error code 12?
the deductive powers on another site have concluded that gremlins are the cause.

I updated video drivers and bios and cleaned dust from my case and heatsink, and am no longer experiencing that.

I have my own question. Well, questions. When updating awesomemod, do I simply need to let it overwrite the previous version? Also, do I need to do anything with the separate config file?

btw, since installing the config file a couple days ago... no more loading crashes. yay.
