1  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: pets but no kids: nanny won't house sit for vacation on: 2008 July 03, 02:50:34
This happens to me too (the nanny saying that there are no kids in the household and leaving when I call for pet-sitting).  When she leaves, I just call her again and it's not a problem.

I guess I will have to detonate the entire thing then as I reinstalled Seasons, H&M and BV with still the same results.  But I also tested my Strangetown and there was no problem with that neighborhood.  All the lots loaded as normal.  Can it still be a base (or baser) game data problem if it's just isolated to one neighborhood?
3  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Goodbye, my love: My Neighoborhood is FUBARed on: 2007 October 27, 03:53:22
Corrupted downloads: no, tested all those already.  Corrupted registry: cleared registry of BV between reinstalls.  Corrupted baser-game packages: hmm, which files would these be exactly?  In the Program Files/EA Games folder or My Documents/EA Games folder?  And by detonating the entire mess, do you mean reinstall, because I've tried that twice already (having not checked to make sure that BV was completely gone from my registry so I reinstalled again).
4  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Goodbye, my love: My Neighoborhood is FUBARed on: 2007 October 27, 01:13:09
Well, I tried that and it didn't work, which isn't surprising as I had already reinstalled my game twice and so I would imagine it would have been rebuilt the thumbnails each time I installed.

Any other suggestions?  I can't figure out what the problem is.  It's not a neighborhood problem because every one of my backups crashes.
5  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Goodbye, my love: My Neighoborhood is FUBARed on: 2007 October 23, 23:51:26
I always delete my groups.cache before playing and I already tried deleting my accessory.cache files as well.  Still crashes.  Are their other cache files that need to be obliterated that I'm not aware of?  Which thumbnail files should I try deleting?  The Thumbnails user data folder?

I'm so effing despondent right now I could eat a whole cake.   Cry

I rue the day I ever purchased Bon Voyage.  It has been endless problems ever since I first installed with only brief bouts of effortless gameplay.  And now this.  After a normal gaming session (of roughly 5-6 hours), my game crashed as my newly aged twins (my favorite family) were headed to a community lot.  As it was reaching 3am, I figured the crash was a good time to call it a night.  The next day, I went to play again and every single one of my lots crashed while loading.  Okay, not every single one as I haven't tried each and every one but out of 10 that I've tried, all but one has crashed.  Why that one that doesn't crash didn't crash is beyond me but I don't know what to do.  I spent all of Sunday and most of today checking, testing everything I could think of.  I've reinstalled twice (making sure to clear all mention of BV from my registry).  I've tested all my cc.  I've tested all my User Data files.  I was even desperate enough to install the patch.  Nothing.  I have backup hood files from almost every day I've played and all of them are with the same results.  I can't for the life of me figure out what happened and why my entire hood is crashing.

I figured I'd post here to see if anyone has had the misfortune of similar events.  I'm already resigning myself to one of two options.  Move every single affected family out of the lots (assuming this is a lot problem and not a Sim problem), bulldoze about half my neighborhood and download new lots, refurnishing them all.  Or just call it day and abandon the neighborhood I've played since spring of '05 and start anew.  Or (option 3) give up on The Sims 2 altogether and become obsessed with some other game or go outside and read or something.  Option 3 is kind of a joke born out of depression.  I probably won't be doing that.

V.4 is much faster so I'm happy.  Cheesy

Here's what I've done so far, I'll probably get through the rest over the weekend.  I'm culling as I'm converting so every file I load has to go through that 10 second internal debate of whether I should keep it or not.

I think I managed to avoid not including any of the files that gwill did but assuming that they are still both named the same, it should just overwrite.

Thanks!  I plan to get around to fiddling around with beta 4 hopefully on Friday and making a dent in my former "Glasses and Accessories" subfolder making them BV compatible and will hopefully have the whole lot by the weekend.  I'll post here if anyone is interested (and has similar taste in jewelry).  Smiley
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: DJSims' Wardrobe Wrangler on: 2007 October 10, 21:56:49
Well, considering I'm not looking for help on this site, that's not really applicable but yes I did post my issue on his forum.  He's actually very prompt with getting back to each person and so far most of my problems have either been addressed and/or solved.  My main issue is mostly with how slow it is but that is something he's already addressing but it's good to know that beta 4 is a lot faster.  That will help deal with the aggravation until he can release an option feature to choose whether we want automatic thumbnail images of the files.

By "care to share", sorry maybe I wasn't clear originally, I mean, does anyone have any converted BV jewelry that they would care to share.  Not information or help on the actual program.
10  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / DJSims' Wardrobe Wrangler on: 2007 October 10, 19:22:20
I've been waiting for this patiently and was so excited when it was finally released, only to be extremely disappointed to discover that it was even slower than SimPE (and I didn't think that was possible).  Waiting for every image to load was just too frustrating, combined with having to save each file after a change, not to mention the game-crashing, so for now I've begged off it and am waiting for a more stable version to be released.  I just download beta 4, which I plan to test out with some bracelets from Street Chichers that I want to move into the jewelry category.

Anyone having any luck with it, particularly with the conversion of accessories to the BV jewelry section?  That's what I'm most interested in as I see this as salvation from the blue flashing syndrome that got so annoying that I removed all accessories in my game.  And if so, care to share?  Grin
11  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / BV: Adjusting Picture Size and Type on: 2007 September 13, 07:29:50
So I just had one of my Sim's mom take a portrait-oriented film grain picture of him and his girlfriend and have no clue how I did it.  I thought we could only use the "take picture/take my picture" option to take normal landscape-oriented photos (which annoyed me).

I do remember in one of the video previews earlier on, one of the designers mentioning that you could customize the shape of your photos and then it was never mentioned again.

Does anyone know how to change the orientation and type of the picture frame?

A thousand thank you's, Amber.  It worked like a charm.  Grin

Okay, I'm not-awesome but I didn't need the hackdiff tool to tell me that.   Smiley

I can't figure out how to run a batch scan.  I can scan indiv files by running hackdiff -i SEAp2-BVdiff.txt -f whateverhack.package  but whenever I try to put in the directory for my hacks folder, I get an error message.

Life preserver, someone?
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Earring weirdness on: 2007 June 13, 02:00:11
I'm fully patched for Pets and, as of right now as my game is loading, Seasons.

I've tried looking for patterns and isolating which meshes were affected but it seems totally random.  Just general bonkery all around with accessories though I've only had this problem with earrings and necklaces, never with glasses, veils, hats or the etc. other accessories I have downloaded.  I really should delete those halos.  I never use them and I'm not even sure why I got them in the first place... Huh
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Earring weirdness on: 2007 June 12, 18:57:30
Hmm, okay, I did a search and found a relatively long thread on it with no results.  I have Seasons and the problem hasn't not gotten any worse or better and I've pretty much done everything that everyone else on that thread did.

I guess I'll just go through my downloads and delete the offending parties.
16  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Earring weirdness on: 2007 June 12, 18:43:49
Ever since Pets, whenever I go back into a previously played household, all the earrings and necklaces flash blue.  If I send them to the mirror to change appearance, it goes back to normal but as soon as I exit the lot and come back again or sometimes go to a community lot and return, it flashes blue again.  It doesn't happen with all jewelry and hats don't seem to be affected (I only have the club hat from MTS2 and Peggys from her site).  I thought it was Dr. Pixel's alpha (as most earrings I have use it) that was causing the problem at first so I checked to see if there were any updates or problems with it, redownloaded it, still the same issues.

Anyone else have similar problems or know what I'm talking about?
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 03, 11:13:44
I think it might depend on relationship.  Pre-Seasons, I've only had one pet die and his master was at work.  The other dog in the household howled for hours, which is how I realized that he had died because the master's wife who only had a 20/20 relationship with the dog was just doing her own thing and didn't even notice/care that the pet had died.  Had it not been for Jade the dog's incessant howling, I wouldn't have noticed until much later.  When I had Meadow Thayer (the wife) mourn the grave, she just shrugged.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wardrobe error and leftovers vanishing. on: 2007 March 03, 09:13:33
You can put leftovers in any fridge but can only get them out of Maxis fridges because they are updated for the option while custom fridges (all made before Seasons) aren't.  All your custom fridges will be this way so for now, I'm still using my inventory which is annoying because they put all serving platters in one category so my waffles, steaks, omelets and fish are all one thumbnail.

Hopefully, DJ Sims will come out with a new updater for Seasons soon.  I just finished updating all my aquariums, couches and tvs for Pets.

Do you have Squinge's updated PRegnant Sims Wear Everyday hack, JenW?  If so, that is what is causing the problem?
20  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Odd things I noticed about Seasons on: 2007 March 02, 23:37:45
The only oddities I've noticed so far are the excessing bathing/showering and the excessing water-balloon pranking.  I'm playing autumn but I thought water-balloons were supposed to be a summer thing.  I also don't have the "Try On" option in community lot clothing racks and no "Outerwear" option but I'm going through my hacks right now to see which one could be the cause of that particular problem.  Oh, and the autonomous changing into outerwear when it's not cold outside.

The excessive water balloon prank is annoying but I think it is a feature.  The bathing/showering is due to heat (I think).  Is their thermometer in the red?  Mine were all red all the time and I finally traced it to the InTeenimaor.  I removed that and everything is fine now as far as the bathing goes anyway.  I've noticed in a dorm I'm playing a couple of the girls (non-playable dormies) keep fighting each other and the cafeteria worker, slapping, shoving and actually fighting constantly.  I've never had that happen before.

Yeah, it is the InTeenimator.  I thought I had removed it but it was still in there.  The excessive bathing/showering and water ballooning stopped too.  I think it's because they shower to raise their temp and throw water balloons to lower so the inTeen screwing with their temp caused the excessive weird behavior.  I don't know about the fighting though.  Seasonal affective disorder?  Huh

This happened to me a while back for no reason.  I ended up reinstalling my game (for other reasons) and haven't had a problem since.  If while your Sim is taking a picture, you look to the very edge of your lot, you will see the actual photo object there.
23  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Is there any harm in waiting before moving a tombstone to another lot? on: 2007 January 14, 07:10:00
Interesting.  I don't use the AutoYak.  So I put the cellphonerst in my downloads folder.  Load the game, load the lot, save and quit and then remove the .package file from Downloads?

24  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Is there any harm in waiting before moving a tombstone to another lot? on: 2007 January 14, 06:53:11
I've noticed a pattern (ok, it's only happened on two lots so far) where the lot becomes corrupted and crashes upon entry and the only link is that someone died on the lot and then I kept their tombstone/urn for a day or so before moving it to my community lot grave.  I can't think of any other reason as to why they became corrupted save for the usual, "shit happens" theory.

Anyone with any insight?  Huh

You still need an education though.  No publication worth its weight would hire someone who did not graduate from college and most require that you majored in either Journalism, English or a related field.  If we're talking blogs, then you probably don't need an education for that, but if it's going to be anything like the Journalism career in TS1, then you would definitely need a degree by the time you get to Level 5.
