No matter how energized my kid is when he goes to school, he never manages to meet the attend school while energized requirement for a higher grade. This might be a bug you're experiencing, but just in case you misunderstood the objective, "energized" in this context doesn't refer to the energy motive. The sim needs to be in the "energized" mood when they attend school.

With the latest test version, I had the alarm sound get stuck on. Whenever I'm at the firefighter lot, the alarm sound is playing, but the alarm is not active(no animation) and there's no emergency. I haven't noticed any of the other things you mentioned. The only other mod I have apart from the ones you listed is an only important memories mod. EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, I believe I may have also experienced the incorrect cursors thing. But I wouldn't swear to it.

The current release of awesomemod is for 1.29 afaik, you likely either have the latest 1.32 patch or you haven't updated your game since who knows when. You will get an error when you start up until awesomemod is updated for your patch level, which could be days or weeks. As a general rule, it's usually advisable to wait until mods are updated before patching, or at least read the documentation to determine which patch level the mod is for. Or, you could search more(I suggest site:moreawesomethanyou.com on google) and figure out where to find what you need. People on this forum aren't going to hold your hand, as you've noticed the general culture is that of a bunch of assholes. Or this might not be your problem at all, but since you didn't provide any useful information about what error you received in the body of your post I can't really help you there.

What kind of Achievements could you have in The Sims? Especially when you can cheat your ass off.
I purchased the base game, so I have a profile on their site and you can actually see the "badges" that it's possible to earn(not sure if any are hidden or not). There's bronze, silver, gold, platinum and some special ones at the end. They're all for stupid shit. Bronze is like "have a sim visit the bookstore" "have your sim sing 5 karaoke duets", etc. Silver is stuff like "have a sim make 15 enemies" or "have an insane sim talk to themselves 15 times". Gold is "have a sim get the natural born performer moodlet 45 times". Platinum is "have your sim ride the mechanical bull on the hardest setting 100 times". So, basicly, it's just stupid repetitive things and the numbers keep getting bigger as the badges get "harder".

Yesterday when playing I received an extremely large flagrant system error that I couldn't read, using the 10/26 version. I didn't know I could get it from the user directory until just now. I wasn't doing anything in particular when it happened, I believe it was at night. I'm not sure how useful it is to you, since you updated to a new version today, but here it is just in case. The opportunities one should not be a problem. I had a teen who got the "work a Doo Pea's corporate tower for extra credit" opportunity. There obviously is no Doo Pea's Tower in Bridgeport but the opportunity icon showed up at Steves Business Complex and she was able to do it there. It appears for me, it's just the name of the building in the text box is incorrect, which is annoying, but not game breaking. Not true. I had an opportunity for Doo Pea's, but when I went to the business complex and navigated to the proper menu(where I could join the career and stuff), the opportunity was not there. The new wishes and ltws don't have the little counter on them. You know, how it would count up like 1/10 for things like job level? I haven't found that on any of the new ones that were introduced with the expansion.

Have you tried letting the launcher patch for you, been doing that since the first patch and haven't had any problems... Patching...
Yeah, no thanks. Don't want/need to let EA do their funny business on my computer. My launcher isn't allowed to contact the interwebs, and in fact is never even opened(I run straight from the ts3ep02.exe, or whatever it's called).

I just did the same thing when updating to ambitions that I did when updating to world adventures and high end loft stuff. Install a new framework in the new directory, copy all mods over to the newest expansion's directory, then delete old files(leaving the framework in place). Worked like a charm...no need to fix what isn't broken, imo. Plus, I don't trust EA's motives. Why would they do something to make it "easier" for us, and not get anything for themselves in return?

Are the setfitness and setfatness commands still in awesomemod? They used to work, but I can't get them to work anymore. If they were taken out, what is the current accepted method of permanently changing my sim's body type?
EDIT 6/30: In case anyone else wonders, twallan's supercomputer contains the option.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this one, but didn't EA move the "ask if single" interaction from the Romantic menu to the Friendly menu? I'm pretty sure I've seen it there.
I romanced some sims last night and I found "ask if single" under the romantic menu, and I deleted all my mods except for awesomemod when I patched my game, so it's not a mod conflict.

Triplets are useful for completing the raise 5 children to teenager ltw with minimum impact on the mother's career. Of course, they're nearly impossible to handle unless one of the parents is self-employed. I managed to teach the set I had all toddler skills, read all toddler books and complete the music and blocks toys, all on normal lifespan. One parent had an involved career track(athletics), and the other was a stay at home parent. Wasn't bad.

The space shuttle looks totally out of place on such a dinky little island, if you want to have the rabbit hole I suggest you bury it and design a much smaller building that will blend in better.
Or use those nifty rabbit hole signs from modthesims2. In my custom neighborhood I'm currently playing, I've rebuilt and themed all my rabbitholes(ie, the military has a barracks, shower area, and gym in addition to the main office(where the actual rabbithole is located). I think it helps immersion, and if you're going to make a custom world, why not go all the way? As for what kinds of lots to include pre-built, I would build a few residential lots, but leave the majority blank for people to populate on their own. It's nice to have the option to just toss a family in a house if you're too lazy to build your own, but at the same time you need lots of space to put down your own favorite lots, or build your own. I would definitely build all community lots, though.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Long initial load time since most recent patch
|
on: 2010 January 19, 19:46:04
|
I recently updated my game to the latest patch(1.8/2.3, I believe), and kept my arr'd content by pointing to the .dbc files in my resource.cfg. I did both of these actions at the same time, then ran the game again, and it takes ages to load the game. I open the .exe(not the launcher), my screen goes blank, and then it takes several minutes for the intro video to begin to play. Before I patched and converted to .dbc, it took under 30 seconds to get that far. All other loading times seem normal. Is this a known problem, either due to loading from .dbc or the recent patch, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

So let me see if I understand this. Even if you turn off the internet before you open the launcher, it still does a check somehow and you can't install arr'd store objects? What about the objects you've already installed, if you go straight from the .exe, again without internet? I guess what I'm trying to ask is, is this a phone home issue or something that they somehow plant on my harddrive? I want to know what I'm getting into before I patch.

The documentation is non-existent, and many of the quests in the vacation hoods are very unhelpful as they point you to a lot and then you spend an hour looking for a hole hidden under a bush you can inspect which lets you finally enter the tomb/dungeon. I do not have this problem. In fact, I have the opposite problem. I spent about 20 rl minutes stuck at the bottom of a dungeon that I'd found under a bush, trying to find the quest item I needed, when in fact what I was supposed to do was to go down the Extremely Obvious Stairs leading into the opposite side of the hill. I fail to see how you can possibly miss the dungeons, they stand out a lot.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: So is World Adventures worth it?
|

It's 100% worth it for piracy. There's nothing much that particularly sucks about it, and it's free, so go for it. To buy, well, that depends on what you like to play. The exploration aspect is interesting, if a bit simplistic, but there's no replay value for it. If there's a way to create your own tombs to explore(and share with other players, like downloadable vacation destinations) I'd say it would be completely worth the cost. Maybe we can get that with the (rumored) neighborhood editor to be released in december. But without it...I dunno, it's your $$, but I would have felt a bit ripped off if I put up all my cash for something where the puzzles would never change. There's also three new skills, though I haven't leveled any of them up past level 5 or so yet to see what they do.
I haven't experienced any major lag issues with my game, and I only have 2 gigs of ram and a low end video card, as well as loads of maxis cc(though I haven't added any non-maxis content back in yet). The only thing is if I've been on vacation for a while, and come back to my neighborhood, sometimes there's a slowdown...but by that point I've been playing for 2 or so hours anyway, so it's likely just a ts3 memory leak.
