TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Getting engaged to/marrying foreign sims.

I've been unable to ask one of the France shop-keepers to go steady / move in / anything, even though he's been romantic with my sim for ages and she has no other relationships and he's listed as having no partner. She has the ability to ask others to go steady (the option is there, though I have no used it), but not this guy. Are the shopkeepers unavailable for marriage?

My maids do this as well. I always have a front door set and it will persist even when fired / re-hired days later. It is always fine after moving to a new house, but eventually goes wonky again. Sometimes they'll follow my sim in and clean up normally if my sim is coming home from a community lot or work, but that's really hit-or-miss.

I'm having the same thing.. sim freezes in mid-motion usually when going to carpool or her own car, or the kid going to the bus.
Don't want to confuse the issue, but - at the same time as I noticed this, the maids have also started acting weirdly. They will just stand around outside the front door, ALL FREAKING DAY. Even if I move stinky dishes right next to them, they will generally do nothing except complain about the stench. Eventually, the pop-up will come up that they're done for the day, and the puddles on floor / dirty dishes will vanish (but beds not made). But it's not consistent. Some days they work normally, and others they just stand around. It's almost like a route failure.

Er.. seriously? I guess no awesome for me then. My game was completely unplayable after 1.3 patch. I will not put it back on till all the stupid standing around is cleared up one way or another - it took hours just to make a meal or do a little gardening. Does anyone have an old copy of awesomemod from just before the 1.3 patch?

I'm having the exact same issue. Crashes to the desktop as soon as I choose a neighborhood with Awesomemod installed. Without it, all works fine. I've tried numerous times, and it is absolutely consistent. Thought I might have a corrupted file and I've tried re-downloading. Crash is always the same. Crashes both with and without my custom config file. I always clear out my caches between taking out / putting in awesome too. I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game, because I wanted to go back to my game before the horrible 1.3 patch. So I'm patched up to 1.2 or whatever it was. I was plenty happy with my game before that patch so I'm trying to get back there. I really do not want to play without awesome.

Well I've had no problems installing the patch, but after playing an hour or so this evening, I'm WISHING I hadn't installed My sim has become extremely ... slow? In between every single action she does, she stops and stands still for several sim minutes. Poor thing was starving by the time she got dinner made. Go to fridge .. stand still for a few minutes.. open fridge .. stand still for a few minutes.. get ingredients .. stand still for a few minutes .. walk to food processor .. stand still.. And it's not that the game is lagging, the minutes on the clock are moving along normally and animations like the stereo and water spouting out of the broken shower are perfectly smooth.

Natural cooks can also learn recipes without buying them through socialization with other sims. I also read (I think it was on here somewhere) that they can learn the recipe from eating the meal.
My regular sim has been able to learn recipies from talking about cooking with Natural Cook sims, even though she was not one herself. I like Good Sense of Humour. Unless you're socializing with someone grumpy / No sense of humour, all of those funny interactions seem to build up the relationship faster than plain ol chatting, telling stories, etc.

doorbell needs more than handyness skill. It seems to require creativity as well or something. I have 10 handyness with only default doorbell option on the menu, but another sim with a 6 or 7 handyness and about that in creativity as well had 4 different options.
Were you trying on your front door? I *think* if you have set a front door, that's the only door with the doorbell upgrade option. But I could be wrong :p

I have encountered a Red Square Of Doom co-worker acquaintance today. I guess I'm vaguely comforted that I'm not the only one :p though I wish there was some solution. I was able to click on the Red Square and invite him/her/it over . Someone named Shelby said they would be over soon, but no one came over. And now my sim cannot use her phone! Every time I queue a phone action (anything at all), it resets my sim and wipes out the rest of the queue after it. I might set the lifespan thing to short and hope Red Square dies soon.

You can drag items to the trash can too. Another one I discovered by accident :p You can also drag items to another household member if they're nearby, rather than portrait.
If someone's making a recipe needing fruit, I move all their Life Fruit to another sim so they don't stupidly waste it (or the fridge, since they seem to prefer to cook from inventory items). Now that I think of it, I should probably do the same with Deathfish if they're making a fish recipe too..
Another new inventory-related discovery I made just yesterday - if you have two bookshelves, they contain separate inventories (just like in real life! haha!). So I have one bookshelf full of books my sim has yet to read, and another with books she has already read.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Glowing objects from performing experiments
|
on: 2009 June 27, 14:36:09
|
Hi all, So my Mad Scientist sim has been performing experiments on damn near everything in his house. Some very nice bonuses there (new car smell in the bathroom? Awesome!) however the stupid glowing effects on everything are really too much. With all of the chairs, tables, electronics, appliances glowing like this, the house looks positively radioactive.
Is there any way to make the glowing stop, other than undoing the experiments? Something I can download maybe? It seems to randomly go away after a while, and then randomly come back again. Or it may not be random at all. :p
Thanks!
