I have this same problem. I figured it was a phonehack conflict, but I have non-awesome mods (bad me, I know) and didn't know what side it was from. I will try the linked mod and see if it helps any.

I wish I had something to add. You guys are making me laugh my ass off and I thought you should know. It's the comments as much as the pictures, really. Keep em coming.  Grin

I have all the EPs and stuff packs, though when I posted that I didn't have K&B S. I'm guessing that wouldn't make a huge difference.
What I was thinking was that either she was unqualified for all 5 jobs, or she wasn't qualified for the first so it rejected her from the rest of the search, but like I said, I'm not a modder. Smiley

No, it's not that. I wasn't using custom objects at all. Playing without any hacks installed the game was fine. Same for FFS hacks. I'm adding stuff back in slowly (anyone else's game take 30 mins. to load?). I'm pretty sure this hack wasn't the cause, though, so sorry for bothering you and thanks anyway.
5  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Kitchen & Bath Stuff Objects Fix - Missing Seasons/FT Functions Enabled on: 2008 April 28, 22:26:36
Looks like KBS shower isn't present in this lot. If this error is indeed related to the KBS shower, the object name should be Shower - Stylish, not Shower - Cheap, which means base game cheap shower (or custom showers cloned from it).   Do you still get this error in the hack-free game except this mod? In all lots, or only in some lots?

I see. Sorry. That was one of 10 or more error logs from that lot I randomly picked. I was using K&B kitchen stuff, but it seems to be the tinker interaction locking up the game. When I hover over anything that sims can theoretically tinker with, the sim errors. I suppose since it's not strictly K&B related, it's not this mod. I will have to strip the game of hacks to find out.
On a side note, when my male sim was in the shower and errored, he appeared naked beside the shower, look down at himself, nodded approvingly, then got dressed again. A highly amusing action, which makes me wonder what exactly Eaxis was programing in there.
6  Darcyland / Lord Darcy Investigates / Re: Kitchen & Bath Stuff Objects Fix - Missing Seasons/FT Functions Enabled on: 2008 April 28, 06:15:47
Okay, my Sims keep throwing errors at me, but I have no clue what action is causing them, as they seem to be just standing there, or even just greeting someone, or various other seemingly-unrelated actions. The first thing the error logs say on most of them is 'Interaction - Tinker - TEST' and related to a kbs object. (I attached one). Is it possible this mod is doing this? Is there somewhere I can get a crash course on reading an error log to at least narrow down the cause? Sorry if I'm completely off-base. I just can't find a common denominator to these errors. Even trying to repeat the aborted action doen't replicate the problem reliably.

Has anyone done any of this for the exchange Eaxis items? I know they're kind of boring, but they seem to be in the same vein.
8  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What are the differences between zombies and normal sims? on: 2008 April 22, 18:52:00
*shrugs* Like I said, I'm bad at probability math. I'm really good at algebra, but I could not follow that proof you did at all. For some reason, calculating odds wars with my intuition, just confusing me. Anyway, I stand by my conclusion: you're better off using a hack or cheat if you want aliens.
9  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: What are the differences between zombies and normal sims? on: 2008 April 22, 07:24:57
Yep.  Cumulative chance of achieving at least one abduction with 28 nights of 7PM to 4AM stargazing under the same assumptions is 74.1%.

Isn't this "gambler's fallacy"? The way I understand it, the odds do not increase the more you stargaze:
Quote
Alien abduction occurs with a straight 0.05% (NOT 5%) chance per cycle of stargazing.
According to this, each cycle independently has a .05% chance, not a cumulative effect that increases the odds over time. No matter how many times you flip a coin, the odds are still 50% either way and do not change depending on the past results. Even if you randomly flip 10 heads in a row, the next flip has the same chances of being heads as the last 10 trials.
I'm not very good with probability math, so I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the chances of abduction over 28 days are quite a bit lower than 74.1%. In fact, I'd say they're .05%.
Looking at it this way, you probably do need a hack or cheat if you ever want aliens in the neighborhood.

(Note: I'll reiterate that this statement is based on non-cumulative odds. If it increases over time, it's obviously going to be greater the more you try.)
10  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: FT Patch Error? on: 2008 April 21, 22:40:58
A little to the side of topic, but this seemed an okay place to ask: are these installation problems I keep hearing about (the patch worked fine for me) why EAxis took down the patch? I didn't know, but i saw a comment that the FT patch was withdrawn, and sure enough, it's not on the main site. It was never on the launcher-thingy either. I'm a bit worried, as I did install the patch. Is it going to bork my game?
If there's already a thread for this, please link me. I tried a search, but my search terms turned out nothing and I couldn't think of better ones.
11  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: College Campus Child Woes on: 2008 April 21, 05:27:43
Actually, even with Inteen still installed, you would still have the toddler stuck on campus issue. Others, who do the Uni parent thing, use summoner objects to get everyone back into the main hoods, as was suggested by Zazazu.

That's what I thought. I was having problems with birth control/abortions with inteen at that time (actually, up until I got rid of it). Anyway, my biggest worry is that having a toddler (or other non-teen or YA) in the bin of the university would crash the game while trying to load the university or lot it was on. I suppose there's only one way to find out. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
12  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants to see the ghost of penguin?! on: 2008 April 15, 23:30:29
...and I have 2 different werewolves, glowing eyes, show up nightly on lots. There shouldn't be 2 werewolves in one neighborhood, but Lucky and Rascal are both werewolves that constantly nag at the backyard locked gate.

There's a mod by Squinge called "summonwolf" that does this. When I had it installed the pace leaders used to show up every other night or so, one earlier than the other by about an hour, but they'd both be there at the same time. It was kinda funny 'cause they didn't really like each other, either. I had never had a werewolf before when I installed that, but now I have and I'm over it. I didn't even realize I wasn't being harassed by Stinky and Sweets nightly until I read you post and thought "Hmm, that sounds familiar". Maybe you should check to see if you have a hack like this?
13  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: College Campus Child Woes on: 2008 April 14, 03:45:12
I suppose it's kind of an inteen issue, except if I were using inteen I wouldn't have an issue. Actually, I thought of here first because people here are smarter than on most sites. It's actually more like a SimPE issue, because I can't get it to work. I'll eventually figure it out, but I thought I might get some worthwile advice if I asked here. I'll assume your advice was "check the inteen support". I'll additionally check the SimPE forums. Otherwise, if no one has  anything they want to add, just let the thread die of old age.
14  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Wants to see the ghost of penguin?! on: 2008 April 14, 03:40:20
I had the penguin show up in my game in fall recently.  Huh Well, at least he's not peeing in my yard (or stuck standing on the exit spot).  Smiley
15  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / College Campus Child Woes on: 2008 April 14, 02:54:07
I have a problem, of quite my own making, from when I previously had the inteen installed. I didn't realize it was killing kittens, or had the option for pregnancy on college campuses installed, until it was far to late and my sorority house romance sim was experiencing morning sickness. I laughed at her, told her that was what she got for having unprotected woohoo, and then did the responsible thing and got her an abortion via the insim. Unfortunately, it failed (which annoyed me quite a bit; even in 3rd trimester the pregnancy checks showed she wasn't pregnant).
Now I have a toddler in my university. The mother graduated, so I moved her to the sims bin, but now I don't know what to do. I no longer have inteen (though I'm not sure that would help). When she graduates, she'll leave the kid. That's, of course, if the game doesn't crash due to the unacceptable presence of a child on the college campus. I've tried time and again to move him off the campus with Sim{PE, but it won't stick. So, any advice? Also, will the game crash if I attempt to load the campus? Why do I fail at SimPE?

After installing this mod, I tried to search for a job using a non-uni educated sim, but she was unable to obtain one at all. The "Find a Job" option did not work at all on the newspaper or computer. She started the actions and then ended them without any dialog box opening. I obtained two error logs, one for each object, attached. I don't know anything about modding, but I'm guessing the education checks saw she was without education (Pleasure sims don't need Uni) and rejected her completely. It could be because the jobs it was going to offer that day (or just the first) were beyond her. Also, if some of the 3/5 are beyond the sim, will it replace them with others or merely offer her less jobs?
I hope this helps the issue get fixed. The idea of this mod is very cool.
17  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Pirate Ghost on: 2008 April 11, 21:04:30
I haven't had ghost in a long time because I had a huge problem with my ghost scaring sims to death. I lost at least three that way. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I'd love to play around with ghosts again.
18  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CAS Problem on: 2008 April 10, 21:36:34
Thanks. The new Sims 2 folder works fine. Now I've just gotta re-add everything piecewise and hope it doesn't bork again. Though if it does, I'll be able to figure out why and fix it this time. It may have just gotten corrupted, but if there was a specific reason, I'll post it here for future reference.  Cheesy
19  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CAS Problem on: 2008 April 10, 19:54:10
That tutorial seems to be for people who can't figure out why something doesn't work the first time. Mine did work perfectly last month, several times after installing FT and BV.
Now, I've removed everything I can think of from the game except for CAS custom content. There are only two things I can think of short of saying "fuck it all" and doing a complete reinstall:
1: Assume the Documentswhater/EA Games/The Sims 2 folder is corrupted somehow and delete and replace everything possible/make a new one --> How much of that can I delete? I mean, I know to back up the neighborhoods and stuff, but if I delete the entire thing, does the game replace it or bork?)
2: I put in a catalog modifying mod that borked everything and don't know where to look to fix it. Any suggestions?

I really, really, really don't want to reinstall every effing game. Do you, if necessary, just reinstalling FT might fix it?
20  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: CAS Problem on: 2008 April 10, 07:33:03
No, still capitalized (it would've driven me nuts otherwise). I did put some new subfolders in my Downloads subfolders, but not for all the CAS stuff. I think that's what baffles me the most: it's all CAS content being hidden, not just the clothes, hairs, or genetics.
21  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / CAS Problem on: 2008 April 10, 04:40:38
The last two times I ran the game I had a problem with CAS: no custom content was showing up in the choosing sections. It's still there. A random sim may pick a custom hair, and the sims already in game still show up the same, but as for choosing, I got nothin. Nary a pre-made sim. My thumbnails also seem to have been reset to the Eaxis ones, rather than the default replacement showing ones I had before. I don't think I've installed any hack/mods since the game last worked for me. I disabled my newer CAS catalog-effecting mods, but that didn't do it. It's not effecting the build and buy mode catalog. I have all the EPs and SPs. So, any suggestions? As most hacks effect gameplay and behavior, not CAS, I don't even know where to start.
22  TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / Re: Should I be able to walk to community lots? on: 2008 March 10, 05:29:19
I have this walking problem, too, but I don't have inteen, and I don't think I have a visitor controller of any make. I don't remember downloading/having one and none of the hacks I do have say/imply they're visitor controllers. I do have the phone hack (if that's a visitor controller, then I have it. It doesn't seem to be, though). Does the current phone hack cause this or is there something else that can cause this problem?
23  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: My new BV/FT problem - vacations and walking on: 2008 March 10, 05:21:08
You said you checked the hacks for compatibility, but did you actually install the UPDATED ones?

Yes, of course. I may be blond, but I include "current" as part of my definition of compatibility. I may have accidentally kept an old version, but I did check every one for new versions.

Thank you, aubreylaraine. I will check out that post, though I don't think it answers my question yet, but I think that thread may be a better place to ask. I'll see.
24  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / My new BV/FT problem - vacations and walking on: 2008 March 06, 02:53:59
I recently got BV and FT, so now I have all expansions. I took all my previous hacks and mods out to test the gameplay this weekend, and everything worked great. But I wanted my hacks and mods back. So I came here to see the compatibility with FT and was happy to find the list in the hacks directory. I did not install everything, but the only thing not on the FT list I had running was the bvchildanimfix. I also have mods to replace default genetics and clothes, as well as a few catalog changing hacks (like "no stupid gorilla suit in CAS" and the like), the CEP, and globals for sectional sofas. I don't think those affect gameplay too much, but I thought I'm giving background here.
When I went back into playing, I had a problem with "Walk to lot" where the sims I sent go to where they are supposed to leave the lot, stand their, and then blank their queue. It was a child and an adult, and not the entire family, and I drove instead. Then, I went on a vacation. I've only sent sims on one vacation before, so I'm basing my experiences on that. After I booked it, it didn't ask e to assign/hire a housesitter (I have a baby and a dog), which it had done the first time I went on vacation. So the next morning, they were supposed to leave, but they wouldn't because the baby would be alone. It gave me a choice "Cancel" or "assign a babysitter", which didn't seem to do anything. It asked me twice, and afterwards canceled the vacation action on both sims that asked. So I had them call a nanny for "right now", and she came just as the shuttle left, without at least two of my sims. I don't remember any of them getting luggage and leaving. I thought it had cancelled my vacation, but then the vacation neighborhood loaded and all the correct sims were there. I thought it was odd, for sure, but at least they went.
Then, I wanted the sims to walk somewhere else. They all walked to the walking sign, then got the "arriving" action on their queue without leaving the lot. I tried to have them leave twice, but couldn't get them to walk anywhere (the group was and elder, two adults, and a child).
Then, after the vacation was over, and the house loaded, the sims were exactly where they were when they didn't get in the shuttle. They had the appropriate motives and memories, but never left a shuttle or "arrived", and again, no luggage. They didn't get vacation rewards; it didn't even ask me to chose any. They did get the hobby rewards pop-ups for after vacations.
The kid got in trouble for arriving to school late and the one adult for the same at work. I don't think this is a new problem, because the first vacation I went to they guy got in trouble for not going to work that day. Is the carpool/bus supposed to come for them on days they leave for vacation? I shudder to think what happens if they go to work and don't get in the shuttle.
I don't know if this is an EAxis problem, or it was a hack conflict problem. As I've said, I've only done two vacations, so maybe the vacations work inconsistantly. If their is a conflict, I think y'all are better equipted to figuere it out. All I have to look over their workings is common sense; i.e. if the hack is supposed to change the skilling on community lots, it shouldn't affect walking to other lots unless the game is accessing skill at that time. If you need more info, I'll be around. I'd like to have this resolved.
As you can tell, I'm pretty new to posting here, so I hope I'm in the right place.
Maybe the "I broke it" would be better, but I've seen this type of question here, too.
Thanks for everything,
Avi
25  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Stupid Question - be gentle on: 2008 March 06, 02:09:21
Any non-awesome hacks (mods by other creators) may be incompatible and should not be considered safe for FT until their creator/maintainer declares them safe or updated. (You may, of course, hackdiff them yourself if you wish).
Oh, I know. I have all non-awesome hacks off until I'm sure they're alright. I intend to use the least of those as possible. I was only asking about awesome stuff. (BTW, what's hackdiff?)
