1  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Late Night bugs & annoyances on: 2010 October 30, 15:13:12
Ok, I doubt this is a bug, but it is an annoyance.  It seems that the game now has issues with .dlls in sims3packs and will not load if there is one installed.  No such issues with .package files.  What I find curious is that it seems to be the paysite stuff that freezes the game up.  It is actually the cause behind my previous issues.  An easy enough fix, but really annoying.

Since installing LN it is taking an insane amount of time to start up - even with all and I repeat all CC removed.  Once it gets to the start up screen with the plumbob it is hanging.  I have tried just about everything and still no go.   (Anything that still isn't loading at a start up screen after 5 minutes is just ridiculous).  Any ideas guys, so far the only thing I haven't tried is doing a complete reinstall. I've searched around and tried stuff that has worked for other versions of Sims 3, but no change.  This is getting to be extremely disappointing.

/edit.  Never mind.  Figured it out.  (tricked it into thinking it was a a clean install by deleting the entire Electronic Arts game files from the Documents folder. Saved my old games and stuff first of course). The game created a new lot of folders and is now working perfectly.

Ah, brilliant!  Thank you, Silent Dreamer.  I'll try that suggestion.  (er, not the EADM one.)

To avoid starting up yet another daft thread concerning installing Sims3Packs, I'll post this question here:  When I go into Launcher (I'm on a Mac, so No Monkey For Me) to install a sims3pack, and choose the files I want to install, I am currently getting this message -> Unable to start game Service initialization failed (0x065d0274).  The rest of the game runs fine.  A little slow on loading up perhaps, and I tend to get the occasional cursed Baldy Sim as is symptomatic of the Mac version.  Its just when I try to install sims3packs.  It doesn't seem to be a patch issue, as I had installed other stuff since the last patch I installed. I had a theory that it was a corrupt file within the Electronic Arts -> Downloads folder, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.  Any ideas?

Well, the good news is the game is now running properly.  Took a bit of stuffing around, as even when I sorted out the speed issue I  had problems with hair for the first time since installing WA.  I think the next patch I'll delay installing. And the new stuff pack?  Meh! Complete waste of money! Send it to the Haitians instead.

Well, Pes. Perhaps the reason for you not having lag on your game is because you have a PC.  So you suck for not having a Mac Tongue

Perhaps it is a build issue.  And something quite possibly caused by the CC.  I have over 360 package items in my game, and I did notice during earlier testing that when I started introducing CC into the game that it did seem be less laggy at some point.  It still is a patch issue, because again, things worked fine prior to the patch.
7  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.9/2.4 Issues on: 2010 February 03, 02:16:29
Right.  I've  managed to get the the game to run with the .package files.  And note well the wording their folks.  It was incredibly slow to load up.  I timed it, 15 minutes in total to get to my actual neighbourhood.  And once there, the game play was incredibly slow and laggy.  And quitting takes forever.  After 6 minutes I grew fed up and did a force quit.

Fuck this shit, I'm going back to Sims 2.  Who wants to play a game that slow and laggy.  Wake me up when they manage to figure out how to make it run properly again.  With CC.  And no kids it aint the processor.  I have a pretty good processor and graphics chip in this machine, above and beyond what the game requires, so that should not factor into it.

EA, the very thought of your odious existence makes me nauseous.

I've been having issues with the new patch as well.  It doesn't seem to want to load up with the framework required to have .package files and mods.  The game hung on loading, and when I removed the mods file from the base game, everything was all hunky dory again.  Just wouldn't run .package files anymore. (note to self: stop downloading EA patches, they fuck things up instead of fixing)

Trying to quit all processes in general is also a fairly dangerous suggestion to make, as some moron will try to quit operating processes as well.  Don't laugh, I've known people who've tried to do that, and got all upset when they couldn't.  But I'll try that, the 2 am lag I get from Awesomemod I am currently finding to be extremely unawesome.
10  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: deconstructing the 1am freeze on: 2009 October 24, 14:04:10
I've just started getting the 2am game freeze myself.  Ever since I installed the Awesomemod, so I can only conclude that this is an Awesomemod associated prob.  Its been doing this with all my neighbourhoods, and it is really quite annoying.  But still I'd rather endure this than the alternative, which is sadly, no game at all.  Although if there is a fix for this . . . .
11  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 'Disc Authorisation Failure' on: 2009 October 24, 13:53:21
Well, that does seem the case, as I am not able to remove Securom in the typical manner.  (Delete the Securom Folder from System Preferences.)  It doesn't even seem to be listed as Securom on the HD. (A scan for securom reveals no such files named such.)  I've been trying to think of another name it might go by.  I doubt Sony.  I suspect the troublesome little file is likely to be something a little less conspicuous than its file name in Spore or Sims 2 EPs, as the nature of it was a little different.

And thank you Saraswati, it was very kind of you to help me out. You see, I didn't even know that Securom could be removed from a Mac.  To me, it was just another problem PC's have, so I paid it very little heed.  Didn't EA say that they weren't going to put Securom in the Sims 3?  Just the regular disc detection software?

Yes.  Yes I am.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 'Disc Authorisation Failure' on: 2009 October 23, 02:00:50
Well, the Awesomemod is clearly full of Awesomeness as the game now actually works again.  Still no idea why the game won't look at disc anymore.  That's just bizarre.

15  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: 'Disc Authorisation Failure' on: 2009 October 23, 01:20:43
Am playing off the disc.  I've got the legit store bought one.  And no Awesomemod.
16  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / 'Disc Authorisation Failure' on: 2009 October 23, 00:28:43
I've just started getting an Authorisation Failure for what seems no apparent reason.  I have added nothing to the game for well over three days.  The game has been working fine until now.  I have tried everything.  Removing ALL cc (both packages and Sims2Packs).  Deleting the four caches in the Document > Electronic Arts > Sims 3 Folder.  Deleting Options (yeah wierd, but you never know).  I'm buggered if I can figure out why its suddenly doing this.  I'm now starting to get serious withdrawal symptoms.

Still having too much fun with 2 to want to waste my precious money on 3.  I've played it.  Mildly amusing.  Might upgrade one day.  But not right now.

But we much all remember that the word shit was most likely introduced into todays vernacular by the lowest common denominator, who do not know jack shit about grammar, and nor would they give a shit anyway.
