TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Processor Differences
|
on: 2009 February 01, 16:20:54
|
I'm looking to buy a shiny new laptop. I know a desktop would be the smarter option, but I live with my brother, and I don't want him getting within three feet of my new computer. I'm looking for something that will reach or exceed the minimum specs that are out for TS3.
What exactly is the difference between a P4 and a Core 2 Duo? The specs call for a P4 2.4 GHz or greater if you're running Vista, which is what shiny new computers come with these days. Am I going to need a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, or could I get the same performance out of something lower, say 2.0 GHz? I understood this processor crap until they started doubling, quadrupling, and hyper threading 'em.

Thanks abelle, I thought it might have been the work of the non-awesome. I guess I'll have to live without my Risky WooHoo in cars.
FYI, I had to sit the invisible man down on a sofa and delete it. What a pain.

TS2: Burnination / Oops! You Broke It! / My Sim is Invisible

Long story short, I tried to get Don Lothario to WooHoo with Dina Goth in Don's car in his driveway. They didn't WooHoo, and they both got out of the car invisible. Dina's just a disembodied voice, and Don's a green plumb bob when he's the active character. I haven't played Dina at her lot to see if she's still invisible, but Don just dissapeared. It was interesting at first, but now it's really annoying. I'm not sure how to go about fixing him/them.
I've got all the expansions installed and patched, along with FFS, H&M, and K&B stuff packs. My car WooHoo was working fine before installing BV, FT, K&B, and H&M. I'm thinking BV or FT borked the car stuff. I've had another sim get stuck in the car since installing those. I'm not sure which game did it, because I installed BV and FT right at the same time.
Tell me it's something easy to fix, like deleting the sim or changing his clothes. Please?

It's not your video card. Somewhere, somehow, your textures corrupted themselves. I had it happen to the darkest Maxis skintone for babies, toddlers, and kids. I re-installed the game and everything went back to normal again. You could also try copying just the files you need from the CD to your folder. It would be quicker than re-installing, but I don't know if it will work.

I must say these are absolutely amazing. Add me to the list of future downloaders. My one complaint is the male nose for template 15. It's not at all pointy like the original. From what I can tell, you kept the female's slightly pointy, but the male is totally different. And, I like pointy nose guys.

Toddlers can socialize on the rabbit thing too. Only one can get charisma points from it, but the 2nd gets the fun points for it. It also works with kids, teens, and adults. I've had Townies come home from work with my Sims, only to spend the night playing and making friends with the toddler. They usually pass out on the sidewalk at 2 am. Stupid Townies.

I installed the original on my ancient server a month or two ago, because my Sims 2 computer had blown up. The server's so antique that it will only play the original, once you install Livin' Large, it ceases to load. I was amused for all of 30 seconds, then I realized how badly it sucked. No cool downloads, no love bed, no growing up, I don't know how I was ever amused by that game.
