Is there a mod for the Sims 3 that prevents CTDs? It's getting to the point where I just can't play the Sims anymore.

Yes, it's called "finding whichever mod you have installed that crashes your game."  It works by removing it.
I'm not playing with mods at the moment.

That's my issue. I really don't get it because my computer meets all the required specs but the Sims is insistent on crashing.

I'm looking for a mod that forces the game to keep running rather than wimping out and CTDing.

So, I'm having a lot of trouble with random CTDs. They seem to occur at odd times and are usually not repeatable, but I can't seem to go 20 minutes without a CTD.

I had the same issue with Fallout: NV and managed to find an extremely convenient mod that prevented 99% of random CTDs.

My Sim seems to be really bad luck around the dorm because another of his dorm mates just died. He got electrocuted outside during a storm. I guess he must have been struck by lightning.

My Sim was asleep in bed.

There's no graveyard in the University town to send these headstones to, so the ghosts keep haunting the dorm. They're a bit annoying.

I don't even know what's going on in my game.

Somehow a Sim ended up hovering in empty space in midair on the second floor about two floor tiles outside of one of the dorm bathrooms. She spontaneously caught on fire there and because the fireman and no other Sim could reach her she died. I got it on video, but I'm sort of a technocretin and don't know where the video files caught ingame go so I can't upload it to YouTube. Then the butler I hired to keep the dorm clean somehow got stuck in the fireplace and I didn't notice until she starved to death. I should have noticed that the place was getting a bit dirty, but I guess I'm not that observant.

Sims just keep seeming to end up in places where they should not seem to be able to route to. But I have no idea why that one Sim caught on fire when she routed outside upstairs. Thankfully nothing has happened to the Sim I've been playing.

WCIF a mod that will let me add a deer and a racoon to my family as pets?

Yeah, I hate to sound really ignorant, but I've never heard of either of those.

...

And why would anyone want periods, of all things, in the sims?

Looking for/requesting:

A cancer mod. I don't know precisely how it would work, as I'm not in any way a programmer, modder or anything of the sort, but I figured it would go something like the following.

1. Your sim has a random chance of suddenly developing a nausea moodlet with "an unknown cause." They aren't a female of child-bearing age, or if they are, they haven't been trying for a child. If you don't send them to the hospital within 7 sim days of the first occurence of nausea, they die. After the first day they get a moodlet reading "Under the Weather" possibly with the nauseous graphic, that gets worse by -10 points every 24 hours. So:

- Day 1: Nauseous moodlet with unknown causes, -10
- Day 2: Under the Weather moodlet with nauseous icon and unknown causes, -20
- Day 3: Under the Weather moodlet, -30
- Et cetera
- Day 7, final day: Under the Weather moodlet, -70

2. Alternatively, you send them to the hospital to get a check-up, they stay there for 3 hrs or something, and then you get a pop-up telling you that such-and-such has cancer. You can choose not to treat it. They die seven days after the first occurence of nausea. If they have a Neurotic, Coward or Loser trait they get a creeped out moodlet or something similar for -50 for "knowing they are going to die." If they have an Ambitious, Good, Brave or Daredevil trait, they get some sort of positive moodlet, possibly with the beautiful lot image, for +20 for "savouring every day." All sims will get a moodlet that has the nauseous icon, but reads: "Has Cancer." The Has Cancer moodlet will have however many days/hours/minutes they have left to live beneath it. The Has Cancer moodlet will work in much the same way as the "Under the Weather" moodlet, getting worse with each day.

3. They go to chemo every day at the hospital, which takes 6 hours, costs $150 and leaves them with a nauseous moodlet (-30, perhaps) from chemotherapy and also exhausted as the tiredness bar deteriorates rapidly while in hospital. Each day they go to chemo the Has Cancer moodlet has -10 points deducted. If it was already at -10, then it stays the same. For each day missed, -10 points is added. Chemo takes seven days. If they miss a day, they will have to do it later. After they have had seven days culminative days of chemo there is a 50/50 chance of them being cured. If they are not cured they will retain the Has Cancer moodlet. They will die when it reaches -70, going down -10 per day.

4. They could, however, opt for another round of chemo. They have to attend a further 7 days of it to have the possibility of being cured. If they miss enough days that their Has Cancer moodlet reaches -70, then they die. After seven days, if they have not missed any chemotherapy, they have another 50/50 chance of being cured. And so it continues.

- I figured that for each sim day that passes, a child sim would have a 1/300 chance of getting cancer. A teenage sim would have a 1/150 chance of getting cancer. A young adult would also have a 1/150 chance of getting cancer. An adult would have a 1/100 chance of getting cancer. An elder would have a 1/15 chance of getting cancer. A sim that had already had cancer and been cured would get an additional trait called "Cancer Survivor" that would just add on underneath any other traits, but not really do anything. However, a sim with the Cancer Survivor trait would, regardless of age, have a 1/15 chance of developing cancer again each sim day that passes. Lucky sims would have half the change of their normal-lucked counterparts of developing cancer each day. Unlucky sims would have twice the risk of cancer each day.

Anyone think they could make something like this? I think it's possible, but I can't really be sure because, like I said, I'm practically computer-illiterate so I don't know these things.

Maybe I'm being dense, and it's been staring me right in the face for the last hour or so, but is there an up-to-date teen pregnancy mod compatible with the awesomemod and TS3Ambitions out there? Google hasn't provided me with much. Ta.
To my knowledge Twallan's woohooer still works for this patch.
Never heard of it.

Man, I feel thick for not knowing about that. I'll go see if I can find it.

At least he says what he thinks and sticks around, a lot more that can be said about other wussies.

I do say women do give A LOT of conflicting issues, its not hard to see women saying "dont treat us like a object" and then they expect men to treat them EXACTLY like that ... any men that is brave enough to venture the world of female literature can fix plenty of examples of that, after all Twillight success must means something (and not that people are stupid, I already knew that).

Of course I know enough to not argue that point in a estrogen filled forum, another misconception is that women are meek ... bullshit, they are far more aggressive that any men and if women were in power back in WW II we would not have to worry about things today because we would be dead, by nuclear fire.

I AM a woman and I don't understand us. I think it has something to do with hormones though.

I never understood why so many people want their teen sims to be whores. Being a pregnant teen should not be so glorified, someone should make a moodlet for teen mothers that make passers by point and laugh at them so they feel the shame they should. Better yet someone should add a back alley and dumpster to the school rabbit hole, that way they have somewhere to toss their little accident after the prom. Smiley

Actually, I want my MALE teen Sim to be a whore, but whatever. It'd be neat to have the option of getting a female teen preggers in the future, but really it's the boys I want. Just so we're clear, he's meant to be an hermaphrodite alien, but I didn't want him to have tits so I made him "male."

I guess they could go hand-in-hand, I guess, but I find alcohol tedious. Not illegal enough. Both coould be facets of a greater addiction or crime-based mod, possibly. Actually, I'd also like to see Sims being arrested by police-Sims if they interact with them with controlled substances in their inventories, kind of like how with the AM your Pedos get sent to jail if they're witnessed.

I've googled it and can't find anything, so I assume it doesn't yet exist but... I'm looking for a drugs mod.

You know, your Sim sits down and smokes some weed or meth, snorts some coke, gets a positive moodlet and the munchies maybe. Use it once, they crash afterwards unless they take more. Use it maybe five times, they get an addicted moodlet, which means that unless they're high, they're craving it. If they want to break the addiction, they have to detox, which takes a few days, and results in increasingly negative moodlets until they're over the addiction, which makes the player want to keep them high. Maybe you could go to the place of the Criminal Career to buy the stuff, and depending on the drug the Sim will act weird -- like Sims with neurotic or insane traits.

I know squat about computers and even less about modding and programming, so I can't do it myself, unfortunately.
12  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Trouble with Grim Reaper on: 2009 December 27, 22:47:03
So, right.

I got the Grim Reaper to move into my family and then killed off a different family member. Only no new Grim Reaper came to send her on her way so the Sim just hangs there as a ghost. I can't move out or travel or anything because the game still thinks a Sim is in the process of dying.

How do I fix it?
