So, here's my entry for the month. I'm not too happy with my landscaping and the whole outdoor look of the house; but, I worked pretty hard for the interior. I've actually changed the structure around 4 times. Some pictures contained my test family, the Rothsteins. I have all EPs up to Freetime and no SPs. This house costs about $205 000 (yup, it's a costly bastard) Front of house Backyard First floor: This floor contains the entrance, kitchen, living room, dining room, hobby room, bathroom and music room. Entrance Kitchen Living Music Room/Tea Room Hobby Room/Art Studio 2nd floor This floors contains the nursery, master bed & bath, guest bedroom, child bedroom, bathroom and outdoor balcony. Nursery Girl's bedroom Master Bedroom Basement Layout: Basement includes a bar, pool table, poker area, dance area, bathroom and private gym Basement Rec1 Basement Rec2 Slide show Download it here: http://www.4shared.com/file/65161160/6e952884/105MainRoad.html

Lana_B: I'm with ElfPuddle, I love how elegant, yet simple your house feels. The colors are very cozy. Jwaas: I'm amused that your first house contained urinals. But, aside from that, yay for being the first person this month without spiral stairs! Cimaronna: I love the outside path to the basement. I must learn to make basements like that instead of the usual way. Aside from that, lol for disco gym! Emma: Fantastic landscaping and outdoor arrangement. Also, I like colors you used for the exterior. It actually looks like a house from my old neighborhood leaths: I absolutely love the whole look and feel of the medieval house. What really sealed the deal on the authenticity is the stone fireplace in the kitchen. SalixTree: What an original and colourful house! I've never imagined using so much hot pink in one house! Batelle: I love the exterior, especially the roof look. Does that roof come with AL? Also, I love all the free space you left for expansion.

@Jim: I really like the modern theme of the house and love the windows you chose for the stairwell (is that from AL? Ugh... must wait a little longer). Anyhow, the thing that made me giggle is the fact that you put huge cabin bear into a kids' bedroom. Don't know why, it just seems funny to me.

I downloaded the link and the Installer states that I'm missing an expansion pack. Anyhow, I manage to install using Clean Installer, but each time I try to go into the house, my game will crash.
I have all EPs up to Free Time and no SPs. I'm guessing the lack of AL that's the problem?

Go for it. Any clues? Grin
Pleasantview. Smiley Umm... my guess for that would be the wooden shack. Msalwaysright: Thanks for the compliment. Unfortunately, my community lot logistically sound for townies/NPC. Stupid sims kept on eating at the bars, which forced my host and waiter to go to the first floor and basement. This in turn, blocked the elevator and made sims do a long detour through the stairs. I guess I was trying to design a "realistic" bar/restaurant/club and didn't think about gameplay. I'm still pretty happy about how it looks, but seeing townies and NPC's doing unnecessary detours piss me off. One thing I noticed about elevators is that the pinging noise when the door opens gets old very fast. So, maybe that's a reason why ppl don't use it as much in their construction.

@jim: It seems like quite the luxurious house, perfect for entertaining guests and making a profit.
I'm going to enter a second house for August. This time, I'm making a restaurant/nightclub for downtown. I'm just wondering what people considered to be a reasonable amount of NPCs. NPC's require memory when generated, right? So, if I have 3 for the restaurant, 2 for the bars + 1 dj and 1 fire dancer, will that be too much?

Would anybody fancy doing a community lot competition sometime? I could certainly do with more interesting community lots to spice up my neighbourhood, and I'm lazy enough to hope to swipe some from others.
I second this request. I also need more community lots. Another suggestion for a future challenge would be one of those cramped Veronaville houses or that yellow Victorian house in the sim bin.

twooflower: I like the outdoor western feel of your house. Annan I just love your house in general. It looks modern, but simple and not too cluttered. Anyway, this month, I decided to keep it simple and cheap. When I initially saw this house, I got serial killer vibes. So, I modified the house so that an evil genius/serial killer can maintain his pastime while giving the illusion of Joe Normal. For more pictures, check out the slideshow: Unfortunately, this house was built before the flat-edged version was introduced therefore, be careful when placing in the neighborhood. The house costs a grand total of $70 276. I have all EPs up to Vacation and no SPs. This house boasts 3.5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, dining/living, kitchen and entrance. Oh, yeah, it does not include the aspiration and career rewards that were pictured in the basement. Oh yeah, it doesn't include the rat nor the secret passage bookcase since I didn't make it.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement as well as the tips to find Retardoland Ick, that's going to be quite a challenge to transform that Strangetown house into something livable. Oh well, can't wait to see how well everyone does.

Here I am delurking to present my entry for EAxis House of Fail, July Edition. Based on the contest description, I didn't really think of expanding the house and building another story. I basically did some landscaping, redecorated and added interior walls and divisions. In my head, I see this as a chalet for a wealthy family of 4. I mean, it has all the amenities to be played in a normal neighborhood. However, I was a bit overzealous with the pine trees in the front and back yard, so it looks out of place in a suburban neighborhood unless it is in a wooded area (like it is in the pictures). Note there are no pool lights because it causes my game to crash for some odd reason. This bug is not related to the lot, but my game. For more pictures (actually, a slide show): Download links: Furnished version ($144 438) http://rapidshare.com/files/133232025/Harmonius_Furnished.zip.htmlUnfurnished version ($34 933, I guess I have expensive tastes ) http://rapidshare.com/files/133232026/Harmonius_Unfurnished.zip.htmlOh, btw, how come I can't see RetardoLand anymore?

Hello,
long time lurker here. Anyhow, I`m having trouble with the AutoYakYak hack ever since I got Pets. I downloaded the November 5th version of it and the new Phone Hack, but I still don't have the option to Call Friends, Call Enemies, Call Family, etc.
I believe the phone hack works since I have the possibility of programming how many rings before stopping, but I don't have these very essential features. Can anyone help?
All hacks I have come from Pescado, TwoJeffs or Inge (abduction pie, college telephone book, no baby harassment, noemptypotty, etc.) except for hacked objects like Toddler mirror, Merola Multi-Paint
Thanks

TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Dog house appeal and ghosts keeping my dog up
|
on: 2006 October 27, 01:24:11

My 5th generation legacy family adopted Moody the dog and I' m mystified as to why he constantly sleeps on the floor when I bought him a $1500 dog house.
So, I was wondering if all dogs are like this or this is related to their personality or learned behaviour. I've noticed in other houses too that the dog will barely ever go inside the dog house. They mostly sleep on the floor, sometimes lie in the dog bed, but they rarely go inside the dog house.
Also, has anyone else notice that pets can hear ghost complaints? Poor Moody sleeps outside and is always kept awake at night by dead legacy ancestors.
Unfortunately, I can't move him indoors because the legacy family's single wide trailer doesn't have enough space for a pet bed.
