Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: Awesomemod Request Thread

Given that Twallen has decided to leave the community I ask here once more for risky woohoo.
According to the NRaas site, all of Twallan's stuff has been updated to 1.66. He left all his source code and a whole team tackled the few mods that needed updating for the patch. In case Pescado doesn't want to add this to AM, you should still be able to use the NRaas suite to do it.

It was created to deter braindead dipshits from coming in and asking the same questions over and over even though the instructions are readily available on a thousand sites, and in simple enough language to make them easy to follow for anyone with more than four firing neurons. Retract your finger from your ear to at least the second knuckle, and perhaps the reduction in pressure will keep all that drool from slopping all over your keyboard. It seems to be interfering with your ability to SEARCH MOAR, or even to type up a polite request for help (which is likely to be ignored anyway, given the aforementioned ubiquitousness of the instructions). It all looks like demands from here.

Nonamena posted a list of the altered resources at Simlogical (as she often does). There aren't many and even with my extensive mod collection, I don't think anything but the core stuff needed updating. The game is running fine.

I'm really enjoying the weather. I didn't realize how much I missed it. Wish there was a bit more of a gradual change; ponds freezing the first day of fall seems a bit on the fast side.
I haven't actually played with the value to see its in-game effect, but there's a transition value that you could tweak. It's set to two days by default and I imagine that increasing the value would make the weather transitions more gradual. I don't know what XML it's in off-hand but it's the same one edited by the longer seasons mod at MTS.

Maybe this sort of judgment is tied to a person's cultural and social upbringing rather than a universal truth, but to me, there's a certain level of creepiness inherent in becoming romantically involved with your step-sibling. Sure, it's not the same sort of direct taboo as it would be if you were related by blood, but it's inching perilously close. They are still your sibling.
On a related note, the manual doesn't seem to make any mention of tiger attacks. Does anyone know if AM has them? I've been on the edge of my seat waiting for one to happen, all this time.

FYI, I can find a LOT of things. But I did not find it by using the search on this site. Or by using Google. It's one of those secrets you lot keep to keep the unwanted ones out.
And how cute, to make what appears to be an open invitation which is actually only a summons to the faithful cultists.
You know what? You're right! I totally forgot about being inducted into that secret society, and learning about the hidden side door where they scan members' genetically altered retinas before granting entrance. Basic security measures, really. It's all spelled out if you use your decoder ring to decipher that odd tattoo you got during initiation. No, wait. I actually meant that I'm hardly qualified as a #grah "cultist," given that I've only been there once, and just to test the directions I found on google (the first result in my search). Perhaps the keywords you're using are too simple or unnecessarily complicated.

TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Facts & Strategery / Re: Converting Late Night apartments to regular houses

If you use the cheat I provided, you can do all the building you want while it's still an apartment. You don't need it to be a house for that.
You have to set NPC doors using ctrl-shift-click "Make NPC Door" (with testingcheats on). I've never converted an apartment (for the reasons KT listed, among others), but I assume that you'd have to unset them in a similar manner if you no longer wanted them to function as neighbor doors.
There are a million tutorials for building apartments out there, so you can google them rather than having me rewrite them for you. Most of the details probably work the same way in reverse.

Use "restrictbuildbuyinbuildings false" to build outside of your apartment unit. You might need to have testingcheats on, but I don't recall if it's actually necessary because I usually have it enabled anyway.
I assume you already tried changing the lot type to community and back after you swapped out all the apartment objects? If that doesn't work, I'd bet you still have a stray room marker or NPC door somewhere.

Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: TS2-style aging problem

This might get the proper attention if you put it in the AM bug report thread instead of starting a new thread for it. You might also want to clarify what you mean by "broken" and "won't work" (ie are your Sims aging as per TS3 rules or not at all?); offering vague bug reports is a good way to get vague help.

CC is not to blame. Neither Mac.
Except in the cases of the Mac-users (in the thread I linked to) who solved the issue by removing CC, and the hundreds of thousands of PC users who don't have the issue at all, you mean? Regardless of whether the fault lies with EA or with Apple, the simple fact is that Macs tend not to run TS3 as well, all other factors being approximately equal. Likewise, I never intended to imply that the things I mentioned were the *only* possible causes and solutions, only that according to other users who have experienced the same problem, they are *valid* causes and solutions. If that wasn't clear, my apologies to anyone who was confused. Sure there are ways to make the game run *acceptably* on a Mac (although it tends to still be inherently less stable than on a PC), but the OP has a history of Mac-specific issues, both on this account and on her old one before she forgot her password. Honestly, the easiest solution would be to accept that her computer is not equipped for the game and save up for a PC. Since her tech knowledge is somewhat lacking, it would simply be to her benefit to run the game on the standard platform. That's not an insult to her *or* to Mac users.
