Has it been mentioned here that Maxis doesn't have anything to do with TS3? If so, why do you keep calling them EAxis?

The Sims was created by Maxis and swallowed up Borg style by EA. Also, EA is the axis of evil.

1. Yes, The Sims was created by Maxis, but The Sims 3 is a whole 'nother thing as I'm sure many avid TS1 and 2 players can attest to.

2. You do know that you need two points to clearly define a line (that's what an axis is), so EA being only a singular entity can hardly be "the axis of evil".

I have something to add about ghost sims I haven't thought of trying before (silly me): they cannot die. Maybe this is self-evident, but I found it notable.

Ok, I can confirm that ghost babies are just the same as revived (i. e. made playable) ghosts. Give them ambrosia and they take meat form. You can trust my info, just look at my spelling. ;-)

In any case, to make a ghost eat ambrosia to make it healthy again, it has to be playable.

Ok, then I guess there is a profound difference between ghost babies and real ghosts. Can you please reiterate clearly what you are trying to do?

My ghost baby (grown up now) ate ambrosia and just got her day counter reset to the beginning of the current phase.

Correction: I thought I had given my whole family ambrosia, but apparently I didn't. Giving the ghost baby ambrosia does actually make her into a meat sack again. Sorry for the confusion.

Oh, good point. I never called the repair man so far, because sims should be able to repair all their stuff themselves of course. ;-)

I think once a sim is a ghost, it stays a ghost. You can make them playable via that science opportunity but that's it, it will always fail and never produce a healthy sim out of a tombstone. Sorry.

Somewhere someone quoted from the prima guide for TS3 that you can get sims with special traits when breeding with service sims (maid, fireman, burglar, although I hardly recognize that last one as a service, unless you think of Monty Python).

Here is what I found:

- first off, you don't need to breed with a sim, if you want a sim with those special qualities you can just have them move in
- sims with the hidden firemen trait get twice the mood from a comfy fire, plus they don't get -200 when on fire but +75, although they can still burn to death
- sims with the hidden maid trait never make something dirty, i. e. say goodbye to dirty toilets, sinks and so forth
- sims with the hidden burglar trait have the option to sneak somewhere instead of normal walking, other than that I've found no advantage

Technically the sims that deliver mail and the newspaper are also service sims, I think. But on the one hand the paper boy/girl is always a child and on the other hand I can't imagine what the advantage of the mail man could be.

I also tried breeding with a ghost. This is made much easier if you revive a ghost (via science opportunity) into your household. Of course you can also breed with free roaming ghosts but since they only get 5 hours every night (if they even appear) it is quite diffcult. If you get a ghost baby they don't have anything special except from being transparent and having the ghost music played when they move through your view (and of course they carry their own tombstone in their inventory, because in the end, you can't have a ghost without a tombstone ;-) ), that's it, a bit disappointing.

Hi,

I hope I'm not restating to many things that have been posted elsewhere already, and when I do, please take them as corroboration of said info, so here goes.

Some things about gardening:

- money trees never die, sometimes a seed spawns next to them (I'm not sure if this can happen multiple times for the same tree)
- a perfect fruit of life nets 100$ when sold, and resets your sims lifetime by one day
- plant of death can only be harvested once and then dies (which is unfortunate because then you can never get more than one) unless you have the green thumb (don't know if thats the correct name, I have the german version) trait, then you can revive it (which only works once on the same plant, as far as I experienced) and harvest again

Some things about fishing:

- the deathfish (lure: angelfish) can be fished from the pond at the cemetery between 0.00 and 04.00
- deathfishs can net 600+$
- if you want a very heavy fish, go to the pond behind the science lab and fish robofish (I don't remember the lure, but there are books about it in the library) they can be 600+ kg (I'm not sure how the sims manage to pul those out of the water or carry them around :-) )

Something about cooking:

- ambrosia (recipe at the book store for 12k$) is cooked from deathfish and fruit of live - when eaten the complete life span of the current aging phase of your sims is reset and you get a moodlet with +75 for 7 days

Thats all I can think of at the top of my hat.

[edit]
I forgot something most important of course:
- plant of death is automatically used from your inventory and your sim is brought back to life if your sim dies from an accident, does not work for death from old age (but you know to work around that)
[/edit]

[edit2]
I think proper perks from careers should stay with the sim even when they quit, like career rewards from TS2. From what I've seen so far the only permanent perks are the one from top tier science (perform experiment) and top tier musician (some kind of awesome sound system). Can anyone confirm anything else?
