1  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: AwesomeSpec building in TS4? on: 2014 November 09, 14:41:23
I also leave some mood crystals by the front door to have Sims go to work energised.

Is there some benefit to always going to work energized? I know some jobs have that as the ideal mood and that there's a requirement for going to school while energized to raise grades. Am I missing some other perk?

I would imagine that, unlike previous games where you wanted maximum traffic flow, and thus tended to put doors on all sides of rooms, in TS4, you would want to limit your houses to a tree topology, with mood rooms connected exclusively by neutral, non-mood-affecting corridors and halls to prevent sims from flipflopping as Motoki describes, so that no room exhibits any through-traffic.

To me flip-flopping isn't as big of a deal, because the little wants don't provide enough points to make it worth filling them. Since most of the good rewards cost more than 1000 points, the little 25 point wants aren't worth keeping around when I could be fulfilling a 250 point LTW. Reducing through-traffic is definitely important, because my Sims have an obsession with walking in on each other in the bathroom and embarrassing each other at least twice a day. Ideally I suppose all the bathrooms would only be accessible via one door leading to a neutral corridor, to reduce the chances of intrusion and preserve skilling moods. The entryway should probably also be neutral so the Sims can go to work/school in the appropriate mood.

Obviously we won't have actual AwesomeSpec until the FOJ gets the game and curbstomps all the inefficiencies, but I wanted to amass some building tips to maximize skill-gaining and reduce whining. The only thing I've found so far is making 'mood rooms' with items that build the corresponding skill or enhance the mood of the room. The downside of this is that I've had to put a computer in every mood room so writers/programmers/comedians can take advantage of the surrounding mood boost when training those skills. Does anyone have a better way that they organize their houses, or any other optimization tips?

-my sims won't wash the dishes when I select clean up. They pick up a plate, walk somewhere and set it back down. Half the time when the clean out the spoiled food from the fridge they just set it on the counter. Where are our dishwashers?
Seems like it's one magical plate placement that causes this. If I choose another plate to clean up first, it's fine.

I agree. And as much as I love the multitasking ability, it means there are cups and plates all over the house, some of which aren't picked up to be cleaned when I direct someone to wash dishes. Sometimes the only way I realize that they missed some is when they get the 'Dirty Surroundings' moodlet.

Are you sure that you are downloading the entire crack? You have to exclude the folder where you download it (and the program folder where you paste it) from your antivirus software, because many of them will see the crack as a virus and delete it accordingly. I also read that you shouldn't put it in Program Files because it can cause some issues. I put all my games on a separate drive anyways so I can't help with that. If those don't work, then you're on your own.
Thank you, I checked and found out that my antivirus doesn't let the application run, but other than that, it's crackV5 which is the main problem, because it makes Origin pop up and say authentication required. As far as I found out, it's about the 3dmgame.dll file which is missing in crackV5.
I re-extracted the files and used crackV2, but when I run the launcher, it gives me this error:
"Unable to start:
Initialization error at startup.
[135dec40:984c6a38:00000077]"
consider that I've already installed vc2013 in the installer folder.
could you please give me the link where you got a working crack from?
I have no clue which website I got it from, I literally just googled sims 4 crack v5 and downloaded a torrent. I don't know why that isn't working for you, but if you can't make it go I would just wait until the noOrigin crack comes out.

Anyone else kind of annoyed at how long it takes to save up money in the game? It's kind of a double edged sword because in the previous games it was way too easy to rack up cash, but I think replacing broken items takes up way too much of a family's income, especially as items get nicer. I had kind of hoped that my test family would have enough money to move out of their starter by now, since the two adults are at least level 7 in their respective careers. Maybe I'm just playing it wrong, but I also take almost a week to get promoted even though I try to do the daily tasks and send my sims to work in the correct mood.

Could anybody help please?
I copied TS4 contents in Program Files(x86)/Origin Games/The Sims 4, and also copied crack v5 to all related folders. switched Origin to offline and disabled Origin in game. But when I run the launcher it says ACTIVATION REQUIRED, to play, displayname field missing from registry.
Does anyone know what's going wrong in here??

Anyone else having an issue with time speed? I'm not sure if this is a bug or if it's something I'm doing wrong but sometimes the time speed doesn't go to the fastest setting (where the minutes blur) when there are no sims on my lot. It's annoying because I have to sit and look at an empty house for five minutes until my sim returns from work, and hitting the 'ultra speed' button doesn't do anything to fix it.

I've just acquired the game and I hope I'm not tarding here but where the hell are the customizable colors from Sims 3?

EAxis didn't carry the Create-A-Style tool forward from TS3 in the name of 'game performance', and according to them it's gone forever because the game engine won't work with a color wheel. As a result we're back to TS2 style recolors and mods that you can never find in the exact shade that you need.
10  TS4: The Pee-ening / Insert Amusing Name Here / Re: L&P: TS4 CAS Demo | Full TS4 Game Leaked on: 2014 September 06, 12:34:13
So do we know how genetics work in this game yet? One of the things I really missed in TS3 was the genetics, and being able to see specific traits passed down through generations like you could in TS2.

I've been testing this out a bit in game and it seems like it's using the TS3 style coin flip method when it comes to inheritance of hair and eye colour. Black hair and blonde hair have the same chance to be passed down for example, so there's no dominance system in place. I haven't had enough time to mess about with sims that are several generations in to see if an individual can pass on genes belonging to a parent or grandparent that they themselves do not display.

Boo! I thought that was one of the few benefits of removing Create A Style, since there would be distinct colors the game could identify. I should know better than to believe any of the L&P from EAxis but the genetics are part of what drew me to TS2 originally.

I got a new laptop, Windows 7, 6 gigs of RAM, i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce 610M. I installed the game and all EPs and SPs to my D drive, used the MTS2 Framework Installer to put in the appropriate framework, then put in awesomemod, 3booter, fps limiter, and the awesomemod updater. The game is patched to 1.66 to match awesomemod, and when I click the updater it runs great up until it tries to start the game using the TS3W.exe, when it gives an error message and crashes to the desktop. Here's the details on the error message:
Problem signature:

I was worried it had to do with where I installed the game, so I uninstalled it from my D drive and reinstalled the whole thing to my C/Program Files. When I try to run the game from the actual exe, it opens sucessfully but during the loading screen I get a warning that there's a core mismatch between awesomemod and the game. I already searched here for a solution and the only one I found involved options in the BIOS that aren't available on my computer. As far as I know my drivers are all up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: I think I have solved the problem, I did some more poking around and apparently my NVIDIA card doesn't play nicely with 3booter and fps limiter, so I just have to boot from the TS3W.exe. I also changed my settings on the card via its control panel to force the program to run through the graphics card only, and limited the FPS by setting the Vertical Sync option to ON.

If you installed Awesomemod correctly, open the console using CTL+Shift+C, then type what KrazeyZombie indicated in the box, and follow their instructions from there. If it's not installed correctly, there's dozens of threads on here about that, so go lurk moar.
14  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / Pudding Factory / Re: GOOD worlds that incorporate ALL EPs. on: 2013 January 16, 17:30:54
Has anyone tried Legacy Island? I don't have an exchange account so I can't download it, but it claims to have areas incorporating all EPs, as well as all spawners, a tomb, and multiple legacy-sized lots.
15  Awesomeware / AwesomeMod! / Re: AwesomeMod Bug Report Thread on: 2012 September 07, 12:18:07
I have the latest mod, and I noticed that I wasn't able to Bless my sims. I am able to bless other households entirely with the control-click, but not my playable fambly. Also, when I try the Bless <simname> command in the console, it doesn't recognize the command.
16  TS2: Burnination / The Podium / Re: Penis Mods Cause game crash on: 2010 March 01, 01:02:25
If others have used the two together, have you thought it might be other mods conflicting? Otherwise, you're out of luck. That's the risk you take with using unsupported, outdated mods.
17  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Is there a way to temporarily select a service npc? on: 2010 February 06, 21:43:46
Be careful if you follow Anonym's advice, especially if the NPC is a babysitter. The ones that I have made selectable in the past aged up to young adults and left, causing the children to be home alone without supervision.
18  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Has anyone else broken their game as badly as this? on: 2010 January 30, 02:45:44
You know what? I just won't use riverview.

Holy run on sentence, batman! You can use Riverview, if you're willing to undo the steps advised in the "Insane Fix to Make Riverview Work" Thread. After I undid the fix in that thread, I was somehow able to install Riverview. Have you tried any of the posts above? If not, you might seriously consider READING BEFORE YOU ASK FOR HELP. Also, lurk moar.

20  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Getting engaged to/marrying foreign sims. on: 2009 December 31, 14:22:42
You could always use the friendly "Ask to Move In" option while on vacation, then either take the foreign sim home to marry, or see if they can marry once the foreign sim is part of the household. I've only ever had a sim involved with a foreign character once, and I knew he was already dating another sim, but once I asked him to move in, the girl had the option to ask him to leave his girfriend there.
21  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Family Photograph on: 2009 December 30, 14:31:52
Yeah, the problem with the Chaos Mod is that at the moment it's not compatible with the latest patches for basegame or World Adventures.
22  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Has anyone else broken their game as badly as this? on: 2009 December 26, 05:32:48
This exact thing happened to me, and the problem was with Riverview after the patch update. This is different from Blue Lot Syndrome, as far as I'm aware. I fixed it in my game, but I don't know which step exactly fixed the problem. I know that I moved the Riverview.world package from Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\GameData\Shared\NonPackaged\Worlds\ to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\InstalledWorlds, placed Riverview_objects.package and Riverview_sims.package in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\WorldCaches\, which I had put in the recycle bin, and I deleted the .package files I had extracted from Riverview.

I don't know if you did any of those things, Gwill, but basically I did the things in this thread, but backwards. Then I installed Riverview using the launcher, and my game was fine. Hope this helps you.

Are you using the 3booter? IF not, you might give it a try, it kept mine from spontaneously crashing to desktop.
24  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Patch 1.8/2.3 made my neighborhood float? on: 2009 December 24, 05:38:19
So, I managed to fix the floating thing, by deleting the .package files I extracted from the Riverview.sims3pack, and by basically reversing the steps in that thread about getting Riverview to work, then I used the installer to install Riverview, and my town was back to normal. Strange thing is, though, it gave my sims floating-head syndrome again. Any chance anyone knows a way of fixing that? I've already tried updating my graphics drivers, but like I said, it worked when my Riverview .packages were in my Mods folder, and my RIverview.world file was in the  Gamedata/Shared/Unpackaged/Worlds folder.
25  TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Patch 1.8/2.3 made my neighborhood float? on: 2009 December 20, 23:11:55
After patching up to 2.3, for some reason my neighborhood has separated into two layers. There's an upper layer that has nothing on it, and a lower layer where the sims, trees, water, roads, and lots are. Sims sometimes go to the upper layer when they're walking somewhere, but drop down to street level to go onto a lot. This occurs in multiple games, both on vacation and in the main towns, as well as on a new save in the custom town Zazazu made.

This is what the upper layer looks like:

And the lower layer:

Does anyone know what this is, or a way to fix it? Or is it the result of having a graphics card made of fail? Also, I don't know if this is relevant, but in the past my sims have appeared disjointed, but after patching the fat/muscle sliders don't separate their heads from their bodies.
