TS3/TSM: The Pudding / The World Of Pudding / Re: Ambitions Torrent

Downloaded the .rar, extracted it like I should. I go to install the game, and it tells me I need to update before I can proceed with the install. After a few seconds of trying to update, the installer tells me that "Update of The Sims 3(tm) failed, Setup is unable to continue".
I have all EPs and SPs, pirated, and the original game legally.
Anyone know what the issue is?
(Also, my friend is having the exact same issue as I am.)
Nevermind, I didn't realize that the original game needed to be patched AGAIN.

Yes, I'd figured as much. This type of thing is quite foreign to me. Is there any chance you could tell me how to do it correctly, or, since negativity is always more fun, what exactly it may have been that I was doing wrong?Clearly, I'm retarded. I was making it way more complicated than it was. Forgive me, good sir.

After decrapping, I put the files in the launcher or whatever to install, but they just freeze when I try to install them. Help? Edit: Lovely, I got it to stop freezing, but now it's back to the original "I'mma say I've installed this but actually not, kay?" Thing.

Ok so I feel really stupid asking this but do I need to install all of my .sims3pack files of the store content that I have first through the launcher? Then when that is complete, replace the .dbc with the ones from the torrent?
I just did a clean install so I have the DDCache folder but no .dbc files to replace..
You don't need any content installed, as it is all in the .dbc files. The content of the .sims3pack files will be replaced anyway, so just put the files into your DCCache folder.

I think this is what happens when you lack the .dll in the WA tree. Excuse me for sounding entirely stupid, but what does that mean? sorrysorrysorrysorryLook, stop bloody cringing! Baarogue means you need the d3dx9_31.dll file in two places. C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Game\Bin C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin Hey, I don't have it in two places... I'm guessing it was something missing from the torrent. Would I be able to copy the file from my TS3 Bin to the WA one, or are they different?

Your resource.cfg file should look like this.
Priority 500 DirectoryFiles Mods/Packages/... autoupdate PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.package PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.dbc
The resource file lives in the C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 as that is where you have your framework.
OR
Pescado has come up with a better way. Put this line in your resource.cfg instead:
PackedFile ../../../Users/YourName/DOCUME~1/ELECTR~1/THESIM~1/DCCache/*.dbc
You don't need to keep the .dbc files in two places, just in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\DCCache
I tried all of that, and still only ended up with: No loading, no sound. Nothing. I don't know how I'm messing this up as badly as I am... Edit: Still no fix, but I've discovered that the game only loads after I remove resource.cfg. Without any content mind you, but it seems to be the only time the game will load...

Well, I am officially stupid. No matter what I do, I cannot get this to work.
With the base WA, I tried to put the .dbc files into the stated folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\DCCache), but it didn't exist. So I created a new folder called DCCache and put them in there.
I also put them in C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Mods\Packages\DCCache, as that is where I have AM and AMConf installed to. Resource.cfg is in there as well. I would have put them all in my WA Files, but the game would not start when I did so.
The game wouldn't run after all of these changes, stating that the Base and Expansion were not of compatible versions, so I updated to 2.3 and the game opened, but there are none of the wonderful store items inside.
I can't figure out what I've done wrong. I'm running an Arr'ed WA and a legal copy of TS3, if that makes any difference.

Is this patch causing anyone else huge pathfinding difficulties? Ever since I installed it, my Sims haven't been able to access anything outside of the room that they are currently in, unless they walk into the room of whatever they were going to access before the queue comes up.
